"The pub part was full of character and interesting curios, it looked like it hadn’t changed much in 50yrs and that’s how it should be. I was concerned that the rooms would also be 50yrs old though. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Everything was so new and immaculate that it felt as though I had been the only person to be in the room since it was built! Little details like lots of plug sockets with USB ports at a sensible hight to charge everything. Not much in the way of draws to store things in but thats not important. The wifi was OK. The food was great and the staff were all very welcoming. The location was remote and quiet….Everything I like. I will be back next time I am working over that way. Quite surprised that this was once almost on the bank of the Thames many years ago as was the castle when it was originally built until the land reclamation started."

"All fine. They put up a banner and balloons for a birthday.  Only neg is if you’re staying in a room to the left of the hotel then you have to walk through reception to get to the wellness centre which isn’t very nice when in slippers and robes."

"Very disappointing and unprofessional experience at RBS Hotel, Strood I had an extremely unpleasant experience with Mr Basu while trying to check out of RBS Hotel in Strood. Throughout the checkout process, I found his manner to be rude, abrupt, passive and dismissive. Rather than addressing my concerns professionally, I felt that I was being treated disrespectfully and that my concerns were simply being brushed aside. When I challenged him about his conduct and made it clear that I felt his behaviour was inappropriate, the situation escalated further. I was subsequently told that I was banned from staying at the hotel. The way this was handled left me feeling unfairly targeted and, given the circumstances, I felt that the treatment I received was discriminatory. I believe customers should be treated with basic courtesy and respect, even when there is a disagreement or complaint. I would strongly encourage the management of RBS Hotel to review how this incident was handled and consider whether this is an appropriate way to treat a paying guest who is simply trying to check out and raise a legitimate concern. Very disappointing experience, particularly because the situation could have been resolved calmly and professionally."

The Lodge is a perfect base for exploring the eastern end of the Hoo Peninsula, the reason for our visit. The accommodation is simple, but exactly what we needed."
