Ibis Budget Derby ★★

📍 B5008 Etwall Rd, Willington, South Derbyshire District

"Great place for one night stay. Room, tv, shower that’s all you need. Very clean and tidy. Great location just off the motorway. Pub within walking distance in the park / an area so you can get a pub meal if you don’t fancy the hotel food."

North Stafford Hotel

North Stafford Hotel ★★★

📍 Winton Square, Stoke-on-Trent

"Me and my boyfriend stayed here as everywhere was fully booked (bank holiday weekend) we needed somewhere to stay as we were visiting places nearby. On arrival check in was fine. We then came to the realisation the window doesn't open in the bedroom, we asked for a key to open it but they don't open, a lady (didn't get name) who was great offered us a fan and delivered it to the room for us, this did help but would have been great if the window opened. The bar was like a ghost town, absolutely no one in there, we got 2 drinks and it costed us £25😳beds are a bit uncomfy also. The whole place does stink of like fresh paint. But all in all it's great for a nights stay, can't really complain massively. All staff were really nice."

YHA Hartington Hall ★★

📍 Hall Bank, Hartington

"Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable, and the location is great for both cycling and walking. There were a lot of flies about, including in the kitchen, which was a bit irritating. The electric fly killer in the latter didn't seem to be very effective against them. However, this is intended as an observation not a criticism."

The Boars Head Hotel

The Boars Head Hotel ★★★

📍 Station Rd, Draycott in the Clay, Ashbourne, East Staffordshire District

"Good location for Alton Towers, but not much nearby. Service was mixed - duty managers were good and very helpful. Bar staff were average, breakfast staff were below average. They only have one member of staff for breakfast, which is not great if there are more than a few guests. They also charge extra for hash browns in the full English breakfast. The hotel room and restaurant were clean and tidy. Rooms do not have air con and the heating was on high, no way to turn down the radiators without assistance, but unfortunately the reception closes at around 10pm. Overall our stay was adequate but we probably won't be returning."

"We loved our time at Dove Meadow, completely out of the way and able to relax outside on a warm early summers day in the middle of nature. Breakfast was marvellous and the hosts are lovely they really do go the extra mile to make everything perfect. We will 100% return when next in the area."

North Stafford Hotel ★★★
"Stayed at the North Stafford Hotel for a business trip over the weekend. It was the cheapest hotel in the area, costing approx. £110 for a 2-night stay in a single room. Firstly, the positives: * The location of the hotel is quite central to most things in Stoke, and within walking distance. * The room was clean enough, the addition of an AC fan tower in the summer heat was welcomed. * The recently renovated bathrooms are quite nice. * Staff at the front desk were welcoming and courteous. * Plenty of sockets in the room for my work devices * Free WiFi is pretty fast; 135mbps down/95mbps upload with no time restrictions. Now, the negatives: * The doors to the rooms don't seal properly, so light and sound were creeping in from the hallway. * There are no "Please be quiet" signs in the hallways. I was shocked that guests were parading down the corridors late at night/early in the morning, talking loudly. * The breakfast was appalling. £9.95 for a single adult. Options available were small sausages, bacon, egg, mushrooms, beans, or two cereal options. The toast machine was turned off, so we had to rely on an archaic toaster which caused a queue. The juice machine wasn't working, so no juice in the morning. * Guests were also not courteous to others in the breakfast area, allowing children to run rampart and shout/scream. They'd also yell at each other across the hall. * In my shower, there was an opened/used bottle of shampoo - possibly indicating the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly before check-in. * The window in my room was literally propped open by a small piece of wood. * Walls between rooms feel thin, I could hear other residents talking quite clearly. The hotel shows promise, the architecture and interior design is lovely and reminiscent of traditional English style. But it needs modernisation badly. It's a shame, given the location of the hotel in relation to the University and the train station."

B&B Hotel Derby ★★★
"I was a bit disappointed in the room, the table wasn’t near the mirror so I couldn’t sit to put my makeup on and the light was not very good, the only place that was lit well was the bathroom but I can’t stand for very long due to my stroke. The room was very small, we kept hitting our toes on the bottom of the bed which was very painful at one stage I thought I’d broken my little toe, felt like getting a hammer to the bottom of the bed 😡😖 I thought it was just me then my friend did it I know how she felt 😖"
