Englewood Lodge

We spent a weekend in englewood as we were on the island for a funeral.margaret made us most welcome and we had a very nice room spotlessly clean with some very nice touches like bottles of water and toiletries which were most welcome.breakfasts were lovely and lovely views from the dining room a real home from home.nothing was too much trouble for Margaret and I would thoroughly recommend a stay in this lodge.

Excellent stay at Englewood last week. Margaret was the perfect host. Ferry from Heysham docked early evening and we had requested a meal at the Lodge for our first night, it was beautifully prepared and delicious. Margaret does not have an alcohol licence which we knew and we had brought a bottle of wine with us, glasses provided. Our room was lovely, spacious, with a sea view, bottled water and tea and coffee facilities. Breakfasts were good and plentiful, choice of cereals, fruit & yoghurt and a good selection of cooked dishes, including Manx kippers which my husband really enjoyed. The tram up to Laxey trundles up past the house and from there you can change to a tram up to the top of Snafell. There is a tram stop right outside the lodge. A very relaxing stay in a beautiful home would thoroughly recommend.

Having stayed in the hotels along the promenade before, I was looking for something a bit more comfortable on my solo business trip to Douglas - the Engelwood and Margaret it's host, went above and beyond my expectations. The rooms are ultra clean and well appointed with teas, coffees and bottled water available in-room. A small fortune has been spent on the bathrooms which were modern with good water pressure. As a trained chef, I looked forward to Margaret's cooked to order breakfasts and freshly ground coffee, fruit juices, cereal, yoghurt, granola - pretty much anything you could ask for. She would never allow anyone to leave hungry. Margaret also offers well-priced dinners which suited me after a long day's work - delicious, home cooked and satisfying. I would absolutely recommend the Engelwood Lodge to anybody looking for a great stay in Douglas, whether it's on business or pleasure. We had been recommended the Isle of Man for a holiday this year and to also stay here. Margaret the owner even rejogged the bedrooms for us to make sure we had somewhere for our wholes stay as the larger family room wasn't available for the whole stay when we booked. Her breakfasts really are stunning and certainly set you up for the day. She also does evening meals om request and the three of us heartily recommend her Max Queenies with bacon, garlic and cream - so good we all had them twice during our stay! Added to this, she has a wealth of knowledge of the island and can recommend many days out, There is also a lovely conservatory downstairs with great views towards Douglas Bay and the port as well as lounge with a pool table which kept our son happy. Many thanks for a lovely stay.

As a car club visiting the I.O.M. we booked four of the rooms together, almost taking over this excellent B.& B. The owner Margaret is a real superwoman. She is a one woman production team with definite 5 star standards in every respect. There was nothing she wouldn't do for us and always had a cheerful word and smile. Everything that previous 5 star reviews have said about Englewood Lodge is true . Would we stay again? you bet we would. It is a large, beautiful, modern house that provides every facility you could think of. I even learnt how to play pool! If you are considering going to the I.O.M. you would not do better than this.

Visiting the Isle of Man for the first time for many years.Researched accommodation and chose Englewood Lodge in Onchan.Delighted with our decision and thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay.The rooms are very well equipped especially the bathrooms.Excellent breakfasts with an evening meal on request.Location is particularly impressive with wonderful views.Nothing is too much trouble for Margaret.Will return.
