Hotels in Shazhou Market, Dunhuang

The service was excellent, and the waiter was very proactive in giving compliments. The room was new, but not renovated, which was quite nice. The parking lot behind the hotel was very convenient. Remember to park in front of the hotel, then enter your license plate and you can enter and exit as you please. The room has a washing machine, and Dunhuang's weather is dry, so clothes dried in just a few hours. The wontons for breakfast were also good.

It's very clean, and the bed is surprisingly comfortable! The service staff is very friendly, and the answers to the questions are very clear. There is also a business cat in the hotel 🐱, which is super cute! The hotel is not far from the attractions, but you need to walk a short distance to eat nearby. The only downside is that the smell in the lobby and corridor is not very good, and there is occasionally a strong smell of smoke, which I am more sensitive to. As for the room, I booked a non-smoking room, but sometimes there is a little smell. I don't know if it is too close to the smoking room. I hope the hotel can pay attention to this.

This is my second review of Silk Road YiJun Hotel—and I can confidently say it’s one of the best places to stay in Dunhuang. I initially booked a desert campsite for my last night but canceled upon arrival as it didn’t meet expectations. Needing a reliable solution, I returned to Silk Road YiJun, where the incredible **Xiaxia (小夏)** once again went above and beyond. Without hesitation, she researched alternatives and presented thoughtful options tailored to my needs. However, after my earlier booking disappointment, I chose to spend another night at the hotel—a decision I’m so glad I made! It was a wonderful hotel experience. I stayed here for two days and felt very comfortable! First, the location is very convenient. The Shazhou Night Market is just a few minutes' walk away, and there are many delicious restaurants and convenience stores downstairs. It was also quick to visit the Mogao Grottoes and Mingsha Mountain. After visiting Mingsha Mountain, we took the free shuttle bus, which stopped near the night market. The walk back to the hotel was also short, about 10 minutes. Second, the breakfast was very good and delicious. The main dishes, such as the steamed buns, were very fragrant, and the environment was clean. However, the smart features in the room, especially the toilet, are difficult for those who have never used it before. The light in the toilet would suddenly turn off, which was a bit funny. There is a drying area upstairs in the hotel, so if we washed clothes at night, they would be almost dry by the morning. Finally, I have to give a huge thumbs up to the hotel staff! !!!!!! Seeing that we had a lot of luggage, the cleaning lady upstairs was very helpful, starting with helping us. She also helped us in the lobby. Every time she saw us, she smiled, which was very heartwarming. When they see you coming back from outside, they will give us a cup of red date ginger tea, which warms our stomachs. I really recommend this place!!!

Hotel is very nice. The location is close to the Shanzhou Night Market and it takes roughly 5-10 Minutes by walking there. In one of the side alleys are hidden gems, namely restaurants that do not appear on Google Maps or Apple Maps. I recommend to explore the surrounding area. Also the hotel is very clean in general, however my room has stains of previous travelers in the rug. I recommend to thoroughly clean it professionally. The staff were excellent and super friendly. Check In was very easy as foreigner and the overall service was very good.

It was a completely unexpected state guesthouse-level experience. Since its construction in 1979, the hotel has received many dignitaries and VIPs as a state guesthouse. The murals in the lobby of the north building and the flying fairy in the lobby of the south building are definitely national treasures, and can be called the first cave of Mogao Grottoes. Although the rooms of the old four-star hotel are small and the equipment and facilities are a bit old, the hygiene is very good and the service is very considerate. The breakfast alone is 40 per person, which is a little expensive, but the quality is beyond reproach, especially the fried dough sticks, which are absolutely state banquet-level, and the beef noodles are the standard answer to Lanzhou beef noodles. In the off-season, you can enjoy the state guesthouse at a relatively low price, which is great value!

This is the best hotel for me. I have been travelling in China for 20 days now. I passed through Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Huangshan, Xi’an and Dunhuang. I felt happy to be at this hotel that I could recommend everyone who comes to Dunhuang could stay here. Staffs and managers were so caring and try very best to solve any problem, any request. When I said goodbye I got a goody bag full of water, juice and souvenirs for my journey. I’m so touched and glad that I stopped here. Location is great, 10-15 minutes to night market and easy to access. Laundry machines are great help. I enjoyed best hospitality, best facilities and best location.

The hotel has a nice style, very Dunhuang characteristics, a good location, convenient transportation, good room facilities, very clean and tidy rooms, a lot of breakfast items, good taste, good front desk service, the lobby manager Zhang Le is very attentive and considerate, looking forward to staying next time!

I have travelled a lot in China the last 5 years. This is probably one of the best hotels I have been. Clean, comfortable, close to everything, very nice staff. Have everything you need in the room. They leave you presents in the room, have all the free drinking water you need, free apples, just excellent welcome feeling. They go as far as pointing the shower head to the side everytime they clean the room so you don't get wet when you turn on the shower. More expensive and luxurios hotels have a lot to learn from these guys. Just excellent.
