Ahana Resort El Nido

You should definitely avoid staying at the Ahana Resort! The hotel has a beautiful view of the sea, but that's the only positive thing about the location. There is a pick-up service from the airport to the hotel. The journey is quite long by El Nido standards. The road up to the hotel is adventurous, as it is only an unpaved sand road that is extremely uneven and full of large holes. The pick-up truck just about fits on the road. The advertised parking spaces are not available up there. If you want to go to El Nido Town, Lio Beach or Nacpan Beach, for example, you always have to rely on the pick-up truck to take you there, and that always costs extra. The prices are significantly higher than if you were to take a normal tricycle, which usually costs around 300 pesos. However, you can't get away from here without the pickup truck, as there are no tricycles nearby and even if there were, they couldn't drive up the road to the hotel. If you rent a scooter, the road up and down to the hotel is more than dangerous for your health, especially when it has rained, because it is very muddy. The WiFi is only relatively stable in the restaurant; in the rooms and bungalows, there is almost no reception, and when there is, it is super slow and keeps dropping out. The air conditioning in the rooms is too weak to cope with the temperatures. It is recommended to keep the curtains closed all day, but even that doesn't help much. Next to the entrance are floor-to-ceiling windows with no curtains, which means that anyone passing by can see you sleeping or doing other things... There is one bottle of water in the room, which is obviously not enough. It takes a long time to get more water from the restaurant, and there is no way to refill it yourself from a dispenser, as is the case in most other hotels. There are no light switches next to the bed, so you have to get up to turn the lights on or off. The bathroom is large but unfortunately very dirty, as is the room in general. There were small bugs everywhere. The pool, directly in front of the restaurant, is unfortunately filled with very cloudy water and is also dirty. After we contacted the reception about all these issues, we were unfortunately not offered any compensation, as the person could not decide or say anything. She first had to contact the manager via WhatsApp. However, the manager was in Manila and ignored the requests for over 24 hours. We then decided to leave, even though we had booked for 12 days! We were not offered any compensation. We had asked for a refund. We only wanted to get some of our money back, 50% would have been enough for us, but here they charge the full price without providing a good stay. Nowhere is it mentioned that you cannot leave the hotel without the daily additional costs for the truck transfer, nowhere is the unpaved, steep path mentioned, but they advertise the great WiFi. All in all, this hotel is a complete rip-off!

I’ve stayed in many places over the years and always check out trip advisor I don’t understand why this place rates so low Myself and my partner originally booked one night but ended up staying an extra two so three in total as it tells you in the details the place is out of town so don’t get surprised when you head out of town. It’s on a steep driveway and it states that so don’t get surprised when you see the road leading up to the villa it’s step But once you arrive it’s like wow it’s a place to come to chill and do nothing. Edit my amazing view. We hide a bike so no problems getting around so if you don’t ride bikes Yes it’s a far way out. We ate there a few nights at the restaurant, the food was delicious. We got one of the standard rooms with ocean. Views and views were amazing. The room was small but comfortable the only thing that we can complain about is it didn’t have a fridge but I asked the staff to place some items in their fridge and they were quite accommodating The pool is lovey with a tropical garden and you can enjoy it until midnight if you wish the staff are truly lovely everybody was willing to help us always greeted us and we got some wonderful information from Neil. He is truly an asset to this villa. He made us feel very welcome. Would I stay here again? It’s a big Yes and I would recommend it to anybody who is happy to chill and get away from the noise of the town. We had a great stay.

We had a lovely stay here. I must disagree with the bad reviews! Yes the location is a little further out from the town - but wouldn’t you know that if you googled it? It was further out but we wanted a couple of days here just to switch off and relax. There is a mountain hike and waterfalls to go and view just round the corner. The hotel itself is beautiful, the views are amazing, and the hotel is clean. The service from the receptionist and bar man is as fantastic. Loved it!

What a great place to stay with such beautiful and friendly staff. Absolutely loved staying at this accommodation and would absolutely recommend it.

👍 Friendly staff, quiet place, nice view. 👎 No access for transportation to town centre being off the road. Complimentary drop off and pick up to and from town centre for guests would be nice. Not much seafood on the menu.

DONT STAY HERE !! Worst place I have ever stayed at . No hot water for 4 days and then they finally moved me . To get drinking water took up to 30 mins and one day they ran out so I had to purchase their expensive water . They hardly answer the phone to get picked up and believe me it’s a long way up a steep dusty and hot hill . No curtain at front door so everyone can see u in bed . Air con is poor and it took them 2 days to get me a fan . Internet continues to drop out . I spoke to Marrianne the manager and for all that I had to put up with she offered me one free meal . If you think this is untrue read everyone’s reviews, they all sound the same cause it’s true
