Ein schönes Hotel in der Altstadt und unweit der Krämerbrücke, einem Highlight in Erfurt. Der Parkplatz befindet sich in der Tiefgarage, wie überall ist auch hier die Zufahrt eher beengt und die Parkmöglichkeiten mit größerer Fahrzeugen erfordert etwas Geschick. Direkt von dort gibt es eine Möglichkeit zur Lobby zu gelangen. Unser Zimmer war im 1. STOCK..Schön eingerichtet,sehr sauber, allerdings hatte die Stirnseite des Bettes schon bessere Zeiten gesehen, Kunstleder. Die Matratzen waren gut. Es gibt eine Klimaanlage im Zimmer, wir haben allerdings das geöffnete Fenster vorgezogen. Das Frühstück am nächsten Morgen war sehr lecker 😋. Hier auch sehr aufmerksamer Service. Das Zimmer war bis 12.00 verfügbar. Unser Auto durfte bis 14.00 in der Tiefgarage bleiben. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Erfurt is probably one of the most underrated medieval beauties among the German cities. Once a town of rich merchants, its core had largely been abandoned during the socialist post-war period and remained intact as a historical ensemble. Beautifully restored over the past two decades it is now a spectacular attraction, full of life, and with nice restaurants abound. Hotel Zumnorde is right in midst of this medieval center. Its front faces the main street ”Am Anger”, a pedestrian area (with some tram traffic though) within an easy 10 minutes walking disstance from the central station. Entrance is on a side street accessible by car, yet not easy to find -- watch out for the green signposts for the hotel route. Parking in the hotel underground is available at an extra fee, but I used free overnight parking in a public parking lot around the corner. The hotel building is a relatively new structure created within the ancient walls of a historical mansion, very well kept and -- most importantly -- streching out into an inner court that, despite its position in the center of the town, is very quiet. I enjoyed sleeping with open windows, not forced to use earplugs for the first time in a hotel since years. My single room was beautifully appointed, spacious, absolutely clean, comfortable bed. Bathroom with daylight window. A good restaurant offering ample German ”gemutlichkeit” belonging to the hotel is adjecent, but there are also many good alternatives in the close vicinity. Any negative point? I had difficulties to find one. I did not have breakfast in the hotel, nor did I use any of the facilities like fitness room etc. Hence cannot assess these points. Alternative hotels? The Pullman opposite to the new Erfurt Opera house is comparable in comfort, but more expensive and not as centrally located.

We stayed in this hotel on two separate nights bookending a trip to Frankfurt. This hotel is not - in our experience - typical of the Mercure brand. Far too often Mercure's are in good locations but somewhat rundown, tired and in need of attention. This is quite the opposite. It appears to have been wholly refurbished in the last five years, it is looked after. The hotel is conveniently situated near to both the old town and the main, new shopping area, both being no more than five minutes walk away. It is a ten to fifteen minute walk from the railway station or (for us) a €10 taxi ride. There is paid for car parking if required. This is a deceptively large hotel, the short frontage belies the fact that it has 141 rooms. The hotel stretches back from its frontage - we felt it was long and not very wide. It is spread over four floors and possibly an attic. We were on the fourth floor for our first visit and on the first floor for the second. Entry into the hotel from the street leads to a small reception area with ottoman seating. Screened from reception is a small bar and another soft seating area. The bar had elusive opening times - but seemed not to operate before 18:00 hours. Service was good. There is a restaurant that is not the breakfast room but that was not open during our stay with no sign of opening on the horizon. All public areas were clean, tidy and well maintained, albeit with a Alpine overtone! Access to the upper floors is via dedicated lifts or stairs depending upon the location of the room, with some rooms there is quite a walk to the lift. There is a small garden and paved area with seating. We saw no specific provision for disabled access but believe that the hotel is easy enough to negotiate. There is a separate breakfast room which works very well albeit it is not large. It is at the furthest end of the hotel from reception and bypasses some of the meeting rooms. Whilst these rooms were used during our stays we experienced no difficulties. We took breakfast early and the restaurant was never full or cramped. Breakfast is generous but prettty standard continental fare. Our first room (413) was a standard room and disappointing although it was clean and well cared for. Our second room however (136) was an upgrade and provided exceptional space and comfort for a reasonable price. Had we been able to satisfactorily understand the room descriptions and attributes on the website a room such as 136 would have been our preference. It had a large and comfortable double bed, a small seating area with table, a separate desk along with the usual accessories of a safe, TV, wifi etc. We didn't try the TV but everything else worked. There is no aircon but there is very effective radiator heating. We can imagine that opening the windows for some rooms would produce a great deal of street noise, but both our rooms were towards the rear of the hotel and quiet. There was no noise from the corridor or between roo

We stayed with 6 adults in 3 standard rooms. Rooms very neat and clean and good sound insulation. Breakfast was ample everything you would expect was there. Staff at reception and bar was friendly, staff at breakfast was rather stiff and came across as a bit cold. All in all a pleasant stay.

Staff were very pleasant but there was very little English spoken. As in many hotels we stayed in Germany, there was only one black tea bag in a double room meant for two people! Very strange. One thing to note for all guests is regards to the safe. I could not work out how to key-in my own personal code number to lock/unlock the safe, so I went to reception and they gave me a slip of paper with a four digit code on it. I said that I wanted to enter my own (secret) number and was told that this could not be done! I argued that it should be possible to key in my own code but they said that I could not. I was not happy but had to accept it. Later I remembered a safe in another hotel where you could change the code by pressing a reset button on the inside edge of the door toward the hinge. I tried this and it worked. When I Checked out I left them with a written instruction in German (using an online translator) on how to change the code.

Great location, literally 2 minutes on foot to the Erfurt Cathedral. Great breakfast, good variety, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff. The room itself is not what one will expect from a 4-stars-hotel. Absolutely uncomfortable, cold, old furniture which doesn't suit to such a hotel. Horribly noisy, basically you can hear your neighbours, awful! Not to mention the old noisy a/c! No coffee maker or at least a kettle in the room! Instead you're kindly asked to go to the reception and buy coffee or any drinks from the vending machine. And please, people, check the tissues package! If there are only several tissues left, then you'd better change the whole package instead of waiting till it's empty...or am I wrong?! During my next trip to Erfurt I will definitely try another hotel to compare it, this one gets from me the lowest possible mark!

The hotel from the 1990s is in good condition. The rooms are bright and friendly, with white rough fibre tape appears to be freshly renovated. Beds, dressing box, refrigerator and desk corner are recreated with a bright birkenholz furnier. In the bathroom a large mirror such as new, shower sheet and washing table clean and maintained, but traces of calcification in the douche doors. The bath airing works excellently and is very quiet. The large window to the street is well isolated, the street noises are almost completely disconnected. Breakfast buffet in the light dining room meets the requirements of this class, the service is good and breakfast is offered for a long time. Overall, the price-performance ratio was very good. We're happy to come back.

Modern design hotel near Erfurt main train station, and a short walk to old city center. Standard double room was simple but comfortable, very clean, with good beds and bathroom. Nice staff, but check-in process seemed a little slow - we had to queue up for some minutes despite there were not so many guests awaiting check-in. Breakfast was good (buffet) but a little crowded .

The hotel seemed to be booked. There were therefore no sufficient parking spaces but also not enough rooms for breakfast. Therefore, waiting times were created that were unnecessary. The staff was always friendly and tried to regulate the situation.
