This is a lovely place to stay. Fabulous bedroom (number3), great food and absolutely no ghosts! The bedroom and bathroom were both huge and the hotel is dog- friendly. The hotel has been carefully curated with interesting and quirky decor. The village has many dog walks right from the front door. Owners are very welcoming. We will definitely be back!

Visited for Sunday Lunch The roast lunch of beef was average at best… £17.50…very small portion of beef (ie two small thin slices), no traditional vegetables, tiny Yorkshire Puddings. Fish and Chips were ok. £17.50. Nice fish, chips were ok but not a large portion. No vegetables eg peas. Tomato sauce was those tiny little plastic things you have to tear - not great. Nice pudding of ginger cake was large but with a small scoop of ice cream. No gluten and dairy free options. So went without!! Service wasn’t great. We weren’t asked if our food was ok. Waiter was (presumably) new - which wasn’t an issue, but was very inexperienced from start to finish … but everyone has to start somewhere! Nice setting, sat outside in the sun. £££

I remembered this place so fondly from 10 or so years ago. We booked for Sunday lunch September '24 and it was truly terrible. Aunt Bessie Yorkshire Puddings, dried up Kleftico, small portions, over-priced (even without factoring in the standard of the food) I'm bewildered at the other reviews. The staff were unfriendly; Nobody bothered to ask how everything was with our meals. I think I know the reason why. Worst meal I've had in a while. We definitely won't be returning.

My wife and I stayed overnight ,with dinner and breakfast included. This was our first visit and we were not disappointed. What a fabulous place. We stayed in Bedroom 1 , which was amazing. So comfy, spacious and beautifully furnished. We both sunk into the large bed and slept soundly. The food at the evening meal and breakfast was first class. Fresh and of an excellent quality. A choice of Greek or English food. Reasonably priced too. The hotel is run by the owner and his wife, and they give the whole place a friendly and warm atmosphere. We cannot wait to visit again, but longer next time !

Super Sunday lunch. Very tasty and host was very welcoming. Quick service. Traditional pub that i exoect is verÿ cosy in winter. My only negative would be that the windows were dirty and lots of cobwebs, probably partly to due with being an old building

I booked due to its location to Rutland Water, and the fact that lots of reviews comment on the quality of the food. I wasn't disappointed, the room was large and well decorated and the food quality was excellent. The owner made us feel very welcome.

We booked for Sunday lunch and were made to feel really welcome. It’s the perfect place to catch up with friends in a lovely setting. The Sunday roast and fish and chips were all beautifully cooked and presented. Great choices on the menu, lovely puddings and all very reasonably priced. We’ll be back and thanks for a lovely lunch.

A perfect hotel for our first visit to Rutland Water. Our room for our two four legged companions was just ideal and we and the dogs were made to feel very welcome. We were most impressed with the walks from the door for the dogs and they were definitely an added bonus. Food was delicious.
