We arrived late but one of the staff helped us for check in and assisted us with our luggage. Room was spacious and overlooking the canal. The view from our room was stunning. The breakfast was good and we enjoyed sitting at the Bistro. Staff was helpful and helpful.

This was another fabulous visit to the Moorings hotel. We stayed in a superior room with a Canal view and very spacious. Good clean room and other areas. Enjoyed breakfast great spread. We especially the Egg Royale. Everyone in the hotel was helpful. We recommend this hotel and will be back again.

Stayed 2 nights at the Moorings as we stayed there 14 years ago & loved it, not this time. Nobody at reception, ring bell, waited ages. Hazzard tape welcomes you upon arrival as the floor is wrecked. Old fashioned room but quite comfortable, went to make a cup of tea but the spoon wasn't clean (all hungry) so decided not to use the kettle etc but had the complimentary chocolate and shortbread. No sleep for creaky floorboards (ceiling and corridor) and you can hear other guests conversations plus outside as the walls are so thin. No shampoo/conditioner so had to buy some from the shop plus mould in bathroom & around window in bedroom. Went to the bar but soulless so didn't stay long. The room was cold but had a heater so that was comforting. All in all I wouldn't stay here again.

I would have rated this 2.5 stars if that option were available. When I first attempted to book for 7:30pm, I received a message stating the table was only available for one hour. Unable to book for 8:00pm, I opted for the last available sitting at 8:30pm. At no point was there any mention of a time limit on the table or that the kitchen would be closing shortly after our arrival. Naturally, we assumed we would have enough time to order and enjoy our meal. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Upon arrival at 8:30pm, we were told the kitchen would close in 15 minutes, and we needed to order immediately. This is not the experience one expects when booking a dinner reservation. We anticipated a restaurant-style evening, yet what we received was more of a café service. The food was acceptable, albeit overpriced, and felt like it may not have been freshly prepared. The most disappointing aspect, however, was the atmosphere: staff began packing up around us, resetting tables for breakfast, and clearly waiting for us to finish so they could leave. Instead of a relaxed dinner, we were left feeling like an inconvenience. This was not the dining experience we were expecting, and it left us feeling disappointed and unwelcome. Not recommended if you want a nice night out for dinner in the Scottish Highlands.

We visited The Moorings Hotel on Saturday 19th July for an afternoon refreshment, it was a warm afternoon so we sat outside to watch the view, boats coming down the canal. There was only one other person sitting outside, we eventually found the only table which was not cluttered with dirty plates, glasses, scraps of food it was appalling for a restaurant seating area. I purchased two drinks which cost £12.90 and sat at our table to relax and take-in the beautiful surrounds. Five minutes later to our horror two members of staff came out with an electric hedge cutter and starting cutting the hedge we were totally gobsmacked, we could not even hear ourselves speaking above the noise - no apologies for the noise. Could this chore have been done @ 9 am in the morning rather a than busy Saturday afternoon @ 2.30!!!!!!!!!!. Needless to say we left.

Missed potential. You can tell where there's been attempts to update some things, but they chose aesthetics over function. The pictures must be from 15 years ago online and that's being generous. The furniture is ratty, torn, and dirty in the restaurant. The rooms have the appearance of being updated in the en suite bath, but the rest is best described as Granny's old things. As I checked in someone was complaining the carpet at the entrance of their room was wet. Everything is in need of a serious deep clean. There is no AC nor fans for the summer temperatures and with climate change, it's going to be miserable here. This is a two star property at best and definitely not worth the amount I paid for one night.

Absoloutly brilliant stay from arrrival to leaving...after an 8 hour drive we were very warmly welcomed by Raashi who was amazing and as all the team there so hard working, making the three day New Years Package work perfectly :) We had a fantastic room, comfy bed, nice and warm with a balcony and amazing views of Neptunes Staircase (you could jump in it from our balcony haha) and Ben Nevis. The food is great, the service is fantastic, the atmosphere was ace...people on holiday and locals. The New Year Gala was amazing...Raashi and her team really went out to make it special, live music and fantastic food :) All the guys were great and I couldn't get all their names, but a special shout out to Carolann who was run ragged but made sure the night went smoothly. A massive thanks to everyone at The Moorings for a memorable time (also celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary!) We will be back in the summer all going well :) xxx
