Not much more to add really! A lovely hotel with old style charm and first class service. We really enjoyed visiting Colombo/(Colomba?) every day and strolling through the hotel's gardens. Our room was well provided for with bottled water, a fruit bowl and chocs each night which were a special treat! The free shuttle down to the centre was much appreciated though would have been great to have a couple of evening options for dinner trips. I love a hotel breakfast and felt that the options here lacked a certain something.. but that might just be me!

Superb hotel with great, friendly and attentive staff who were always willing to help, especially at reception where nothing seemed too much bother. Wonderful room, delicious grounds, lovely swimming pool, excellent food, and even a very friendly tortoise to talk to. Not cheap, but for us worth every euro. Will definitely return.

The garden is amazing, the staff couldn’t do enough for us, breakfast on the patio was brilliant and we had the most romantic Valentine's Day dinner. The weather was good (unlike a very cold and miserable England in February) so we could explore Funchal and the rest of the island in comfort.

Lovely hotel in the suburbs of Funchal. The hotel is colonial in style with lots of local wooden floors and paneling . Extensive and beautiful gardens surround the hotel which are located in a quiet area 10 minutes from the centre of town. The rooms are spacious and all face South with views of the garden.A slight criticism would be the rooms are a little dated. Only 2 electrical points and you needed to put the kettle on the floor when using it. The TVs are quite old models but functional. Breakfast is plentiful with an extensive menu and really good ingredients . The restaurant food is also excellent quality and value for money,with a chef and team who know how to cook and present food. This brings me to the staff. Whether it’s the reception, cleaning, garden, transport drivers or restaurant staff, all are professional and helpful. They help make this hotel what it is. We enjoyed our mid winter break and the hotel and staff helped us recharge our batteries.

we had a wonderful stay at the hotel and very much hope to return n the near future. The staff were exceptionally helpful, the food was good with a good variety of breakfast offerings. We also enjoyed the dinners. We stayed in a beautiful, spacious suite with very comfortable beds. The garden is very beautiful even in the winter . The hotel is located in a very peaceful area on a hillside with lovely views, only a 20 minute walk downhill to the centre of Funchal and provides a much welcome return shuttle bus for the uphill return journey! Thank you so much to everybody who made our stay such a happy one!

Simply the best hotel in Funchal/Madeira! We come here for about twenty years now and therefore feel really at home away from home! Location is great (it's better if you have a car, but otherwise there is a shuttle to the city-center and taxis are still affordable), the garden and the pool are stunning. Kitchen is also a delight and rooms are big and cosy (prefer the "Superior Garden View with Balcony"). And to top it all is the staff: everyone is friendly, helpful and competent! We are just looking forward to our next stay!

We think this is the best 5* hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff are wonderful without exception, and cannot do enough to help. The rooms are large and comfortable with the largest beds and views over the amazing gardens. The food at the hotel restaurant is as good as you are going to get anywhere. The Valentines dinner was in our top five meals. We have stayed twice in successive years and will probably return next year. As you can tell, we like the hotel.

Quinta les jardins do lago is the best hotel stayed in. Everything was perfect, room, food location, gardens, swimming pool. Most importantly it was the attitude of the staff. They were courteous, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. I suspect that they all enjoy working in such a wonderful environment. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to return.
