"Hotel located inside the Plaza Madeira Shopping Mall. Difficult to find as the entrance is through the shopping mall (?) or through the private garage below the shopping mall. Little information and difficult to understand how to get to reception via the garage. Even Waze struggled to find the hotel. We went up 2 elevators and entered a door with a bell, a narrow corridor and then an open terrace. Then there is a heavy glass door to access the event lounge. The floor is entirely made of gravel (stone) and it is difficult for suitcases with wheels to roll. Despite the marathon (escape game) the hotel is boutique with a beautiful view and a 5-star breakfast. If they improved the arrival to welcome customers as is customary in 5-star hotels, it would be pure luxury. Pool heating on the Terrace would be a plus. Clean rooms and minibar "on demand". We even liked the robot that collects the plates and utensils from the cafe."

"The location is excellent, with a nice pool, two types of pools with seawater and ocean access nearby. A little further, about a 25-minute walk from the hotel, there's a beautiful cave and a long sandy beach. Everyone at the hotel was very kind; they even gave my husband a bottle of champagne for his birthday. We had a panoramic view from the window, which is gorgeous, in room 1003. One downside: I bought breakfast, but my husband sleeps late, so I was the only one eating. I asked the staff to get a breakfast box for my husband since he'd already paid for it, but they wouldn't let me. As a result, we lost all the breakfasts we'd paid for. Breakfast is served until 10:00 a.m., and if you don't wake up early, you won't eat, so keep that in mind. Otherwise, everything was great, and they cleaned every day."

"Hehe, it seems that we were upgraded to a room type, which is very nice. The scenery is great. There are restaurants and supermarkets just up the hill from the hotel. It's just a little far from the city center. The bus station is right in front of the hotel. Don't have too much hope for breakfast, it's all white rice. I wanted to eat soup but there was none. The bath products are okay, at least they have a brand."

"This hotel was the perfect place for us to have some much needed R&R for 5 days. The Staff are so helpful and pleasant, the food is well presented and delicious in the restaurant. Breakfast has an excellent selection. It is about a 15 minute walk to the seafront and shops. It is downhill going but uphill on the return, which in the heat of the day can be hard work. There are plenty of taxis and tuk-tuks about to help get you from a to b if necessary. The Spa was easily accessible and had a nice selection of treatments. Beautiful rooms, very spacious and each has a balcony with table and chairs. A bottle of still and sparkling water is provided in the fridge, which is refilled FOC when empty. Large bathroom with all toiletries and towels Highly recommended"

The rooftop pool was very comfortable, with sunbeds available, so I could relax by swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying a drink from the bar. The staff were also very friendly and I was very satisfied. The location was also great, close to the cathedral. I would recommend it without hesitation."

"The hotel is located by the sea and the location is better. The sea view suite is first-class, but the hotel's equipment and facilities are really unacceptable. It is a five-star hotel. When the hotel bathtub faucet is broken, the air conditioner is not started, and the radiator sent is a model decades ago and there is a start sound. The mattress is a spring bed decades ago, and the hotel is a holiday place for many elderly members. Imagine how unsatisfactory his equipment and food are. Fortunately, Trip.com supported, but also wasted valuable vacation time."

"Cons We arrived late at night to a receptionist we could hardly hear talk due to a piano player playing in the next room. We fancied a cup of tea when we entered our room GUESS WHAT THE HOTEL DOES NOT SUPPLY Mini cartons of milk in the room. Now I have traveled a lot and when you get a kettle you get all the supplies to make yourself a cuppa. I was told the fridge is not cold enough to keep milk WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH. The hotel is not suitable for mobility issue's 2 steep slopes to front of hotel and from floor 10 steep slopes and many steps to reach the pool. The hot food selection both at breakfast and evening meal was barely hot and I never saw a member of staff checking the food with a food thermometer. SUPPLY A MICROWAVE. No supermarket nearby to purchase bottles of water etc Hotel situated to far from Funchal Pros Hotel clean and tidy Staff generally helpful Great Sea views Pool clean Plenty of sun beds Excess to Promenade good Pool bar ok Don’t order the Caesar Salad disgusting Local buses No 1 run every half hour to Funchal 1.98 euros pp Would I stay here again A differcult question as I would not return to Maderia too many hills unless you are a hiker. We did all the tourist stuff and that was great."
