"Hehe, it seems that we were upgraded to a room type, which is very nice. The scenery is great. There are restaurants and supermarkets just up the hill from the hotel. It's just a little far from the city center. The bus station is right in front of the hotel. Don't have too much hope for breakfast, it's all white rice. I wanted to eat soup but there was none. The bath products are okay, at least they have a brand."

"What a fabulous hotel, city and island! Had the most wonderful week. Such a beautiful setting . Staff were wonderful, so friendly and professional. Food incredible and cocktails to die for ! Thatchers bar is a fantastic place to sit for a pre dinner drink. Can’t really fault it. Madeira offers so much to do and the amount of restaurants within a half hour walking distance is incredible! We loved it so much we became members of the Vacation Club and can’t wait to return next year!"

"Once again another superb stay. The food in Avista (half board here) was even better than usual and I told the chef! How superb are these rooms with their beautiful bathrooms? We had a suite on the first floor again with the huge balcony. We have also stayed in a duplex suite but prefer the suites on one level. Both suites are stunning. The staff are second to none and gave us the most wonderful time. Huge thanks to all the staff, particularly Katcha (spelling?!), Juan, Vitor, Sandra and Manuel….there are more but I have to stop somewhere! The only downside is ‘Mr Grumpy’ at the pool who seems to do a lot of nothing and needs to smile. I was surprised he’s still there! See you next year! :-D"

"We visited this hotel for the 14th, you’re running and we really like it It is not too big it’s a great location. The staff are excellent and there are great views over the harbour It’s a little bit old-fashioned and the rooms probably need an upgrade that we like it and we will return The only problem is that during the course of our recent stay, we noticed there’s a number of couples arriving every day, but found that the hotel was double booked and they were being shunted to another hotel in the group and many of them were not very pleased It is therefore very important if you are planning to visit this hotel that you make sure that you actually book with someone reputable to make sure that you get a room If you are organising the hotel of your own bus through the agency such as ***********, then be very careful"
