3-Star Hotels in Funchal

The hotel is located in a good area. Close to restaurants, beaches or boardwalk. Breakfast is decent, and the room was clean. A bit old mattress, and the furniture as well. Considering the paid price, I would say the hotel delivers the right services.

Located in the heart of Funchal. There is a very beautiful park nearby. From the window there is a view of the church. Breakfast buffet is standard, coffee is disgusting. There is a lot of audibility in the room. Everything else is great. I'm happy.

The location is great. But just in advance to provide a room with an ocean view, however, they gave a view of the courtyard. Breakfast is normal. At check-in, they did not give a complimentary glass of wine, as they gave to all guests. Even though I arrived late, I expected a glass - this is a sign of attention to the guest. The pool has a gorgeous view of the Grand Marina. Also, there was not even a bottle of drinking water in the room, this is also a mess.

We stayed at this hotel twice and have booked it again. It’s a budget-friendly place in the very centre of Funchal. It has everything we need really - the rooms are spacious, there’s always hot water in the shower, the rooms are cleaned every day. Faultless, fast WiFi (crucial if you are working remotely or travelling with a teen). Massive kudos to the amazing staff - they are very friendly and courteous. The location is perfect for sightseeing in Funchal or getting to other places in Madeira.

It wasn't the hotel I originally booked and I was very worried when I read the reviews. Luckily,as it turned out,there was no need to worry,the room was basic but comfortable,comfy bed,amazing views, friendly and helpful staff,satisfactory breakfast,nice dinner,the best location-5minutes from anything and everything. It was an amazing holiday,and I remembered again why I don't read reviews:)

I stayed for 2 weeks. Had been there before. Had room 516 with small balcony. Some rooms on one side of hotel are facing a new extension with no view. Just had breakfast only. Plenty of choice. Very bright dining room 6th floor with views over the city to the sea and up to the mountains. Has large sun area on roof above dining room. Friendly cheerful staff. Internet access and computer desk for guests. Very busy hotel. Hotel is uphill from city. No parking space, but lots of underground car parks nearby. I used Parque 5 de Outubro on street of same name €4 per day. Ony 4 or 5 minutes walk from hotel. You have a pass to go in and out any time of day or night. There are others nearby. There is a car park in Rua dos Netos €6 per day. Along the Rua dos Netos there is a small corner shop selling a bit of everything. Drinks, wine, fruit bread etc. Busses pass near hotel going to Monte etc. Get a GIRO card 50c and have journeys put on card €1.35 each €1.95 on bus. Bus to Monte Nos. 21 & 22.

The hotel is in Lido area with plenty of restaurants and small super markets near by. Only 3 mins walk to bus top where can bring you to City Center €1.95 single one way and airport. €5 single one way, €8 return. Walking to City center is about 20-30mins. Only 10mins walk to Forum Madeira shopping mall. Breakfast is good with many choices of fruit, salad, yogurt, ham, eggs, bread, cereals. Indoor, outdoor pool and gym are nice too. We stay in sea and swimming pool view studio with kitchenette. The balcony is wonderful. Staffs are polite and patient. Only one con, no air conditioning in 31 degrees. Only have a ceiling fan.

We spent a week at the Mimosa hotel at the beginning of August. The Tui coach dropped us off at the bottom of the steep hill up to the hotel. Checking in was efficient and both lifts were working up to the 6th floor, although there was only one lift working during the rest of the week. The balcony had a table and 2 chairs and the views of the pool and sea were amazing. The apartment was basic with 2 single beds, but no air con or fans and there was some traffic noise from the road. There was a shower in the clean bathroom, but we had to climb into the bath to use it. Although the kitchenette had a microwave and minimal amount of plates and cutlery, it did not have a kettle or toaster. The apartment, however, included a TV, fridge and hairdryer. Breakfast was included and offered ample selections of cereals, fruit, cheese, ham, nuts, cooked breakfast and bread and cakes, although the cooked food could have been warmer. There was also coffee, tea or fruit juices available, with inside and outside seating an option. There was an outside swimming pool (cool) and a toddler pool with plenty of sun beds surrounding them – also an inside pool. There are tennis courts, a Jacuzzi, sauna, spa and gym. The food at the pool side was very good and the bar staff were both friendly and helpful. The apartment was cleaned most days by cheerful staff. There was some entertainment at the pool bar, which everyone seemed to enjoy. The rooftop bar has fabulous views, but doesn't seem to be used to its full potential. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, as well as local buses to explore the island and visit Funchal. Altogether this was a pleasant summer holiday for our family.

We have just returned from a week in the Florasol. As per my title, had the room been more comfortable I would have easily given this a 5 star review. The hotel is clean and tidy, the staff work hard and the breakfast options are great. Unfortunately though every night of our holiday was ruined by the fact there was no air conditioning in the room. The daily temperatures outside were 29°-30° and very humid. The bedroom does have a ceiling fan which was nice and I'm sure this will be the reason why there aren't more complaints, but when the apartment is shared by a family of 4, 2 people end up in the lounge where we had a sofa bed and z bed. The temperature was incredible, absolutely no air flow made sleeping difficult. We had to keep the balcony door open overnight which resulted in being eaten alive by mosquitos every night!! I can understand the financial implications of an old hotel having to install air conditioning in every room but as an absolute minimum there should be fans or portable air con units in the room. I don't think I can return to this hotel on this issue alone, I can only describe my feelings toward this as disgust. Other than that, the hotel is ideally situated outside of Funchal centre in a tourist zone that has massive choice of restaurants and bars. We hired a car for 3 days, be aware the hotel does have a small car park at the rear but you need to really be returning to the hotel no later than 15. 00 if you want to secure a space or you will have to fine off street parking. With so many cars on the island this will be difficult. Madeira has seen a tenfold increase in hire cars over the last few years and it's apparent that it is causing issues. But, at least there is some provision for parking and it's free, something which alot of hotels don't provide at all which is good. Other points of note - there are only 2 small lifts for the building, quite often you will wait a while as they are in use regularly by other guests and also staff moving around the building, you may get a better view on a high floor but the view on the 5th and 6th floor is still great and it allows you to use the stairs to access the pool and restaurant on the 4th floor rather than spending time waiting for lifts that always seem to be busy and full. The pool attendant hoses down poolside every morning and works hard, however I did find the practice of hosing the sun lounger cushions bizarre, the older ones in particular just turn into a giant sponge, often at 2 or 3pm, they are still absolutely soaked and unusable. There aren't enough umbrellas on the poolside so you need to get one early, and you will see several ignorant people unnecessarily hoarding them, sometimes 2-3 umbrellas each for 2-3 beds. It's totall ridiculous, especially when they can see families with young children struggling to find shade.
