Galle Hotels with Bars

We visited during off-season, so there were very few other guests. The first morning we had an unusual ”set” breakfast, which was understandable as no buffet was offered when there were so few guests. Water pressure/temperature was unstable and there was a weird pulsating noise in the bathroom. On the positive side, the staff were very nice, friendly, and helpful. It's a lovely estate in absolute terms and stunning in relative terms. Very near the trendy fort area, which is worth a visit. Overall pleased.

The all-inclusive price is particularly refreshing. You can eat or drink whenever you want. However, the hotel is relatively old and the swimming pool closes early, only at 7 or 8 p.m.

Departed for Sri Lanka on September 28, 2023, and checked into the Amangalla Hotel in Galle Fort. It was the sixth Aman hotel to check in. It felt great. Amangalla was built in the 17th century. It was formerly a military command in the Netherlands. It later became the first hotel in Sri Lanka. It was acquired by the Aman Group in 1995. The hotel is not big, but it is well-equipped with swimming pools, massage pools, yoga rooms, etc. , you can experience local shaving services and foot massages. Amangalla is the smallest Aman I have ever stayed in. It is in the middle of the ancient city of Galle and a 10-minute walk from the lighthouse. The surrounding area is very convenient for eating, drinking and entertainment. There is the Tuna and the Crab restaurant, which is a brother restaurant of the one-Michelin-star restaurant in Colombo. If you have enough money, you can try it. Be sure to choose his tea plantation tour, which will also take you to see the sea turtle hatching base and stilt fishing. It was very interesting. Although I fell off and stepped on a rock while fishing on stilts and was injured, I gained interesting photos and a rare life experience. The ancient city of Galle is also worth visiting. Amangalla can arrange cars and tour guides. The hotel is right in the center of the ancient city. The location is good and it is very convenient to go everywhere. Although I fell into the sea while fishing on stilts and cut my feet. All in all, it was still a very interesting experience. The two Amans in Sri Lanka are different from the ones we stayed in before. They are far away from Colombo and do not provide free airport pick-up services. The airport pick-up fee for the five of us was about US$400 in a large amanganla. It should be noted that if two Aman activities are booked for consecutive days, they generally need to be booked from the official website, not Ctrip agents.

Really enjoyed my stay at fort bazaar. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Due to the rainy weather down south I changed my plans to go to Tangalle and stay a couple of extra days at Fort Bazaar and enjoyed the spa and walking around Galle. I was a solo traveler and felt safe and comfortable there. Definitely somewhere I would consider to stay again

A very comfortable trip, must go to the beach! The beachfront hotel is really the highlight of the trip. Because it is an environmentally friendly hotel, remember to ask for disposable utensils such as toothbrushes from the front desk in advance.

We were first given a room with a view on the bar and swimming pool, just next to the second floor open terrace which was awful in terms of privacy. Fortunately we were changed to a room on the far East of the old building and the view as fantastic.. the room was old but well maintained. The problem was the terrace door was not sound proof and we learnt at night how bothersome it would be. Because you see, our room was just above the restaurant that gives directly to the sea where waves crash on the rocks. Impossible to have a quiet night. Light sleepers better choose a room in the swimming pool area. Food was ok. Service as everywhere in SriLanka was slow and not very responsive. You had to ask twice for hot water or something. We expected more for a 5 stars. We tried the restaurant next to the spa on our last night and service was great there. The pizza at the pizza restaurant next to the pool was very good. Location of the hotel was great, a 5 min by tuktuk to the castle. Unfortunately, everything was almost perfect until the day we left. We realized the hotel has a monopoly on all the taxi and tuktuk that come and leave the hotel. As I couldn't book a car on Uber or kangaroo cab, we just asked a driver who just dropped a group of people if we could hire him and he was ok but the hotel staff interrupted us and sent him away because they asked us to choose from their drivers which was completely absurd. We insisted on using this driver so they entered in a negotiation with the driver to get a cut on the fees. Apparently these are common practices in 5 star hotels. A total mafia style management. Outrageous. And in the hotel room, you have a biography of the founder that highlight his ambition to highlight Sri Lankan hospitality. I encourage him to take a look in the mirror. For that I would not recommend this place, especially during winter vacation when prices are half a grand for 2 nights!

A very good hotel, designed by the famous Sri Lankan designer Bawa. This trip is a hotel series specially selected by the designer friends, and it lives up to expectations. Hope to stay here again in the future.

I was very satisfied with the Lunuganka Manor experience beyond my expectations! At the beginning of the booking, I was attracted by the design of Bava, after all, it was a decades-old building, and some rooms were converted from other spaces, so I had a little concern for its comfort as a hotel. However, after the stay, these concerns were found to be completely redundant. As an iconic attraction in southern Sri Lanka, Lunuganka Manor is not only the former residence of renowned architect Jeffrey Bawa, but also a private garden that combines unique architecture with natural beauty. I chose the glass house mainly because of my personal residence, hoping that the room size is moderate and not too spacious. However, after visiting the other rooms in the manor, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the glass house I chose was one of the most desirable residences in the whole manor. The glass house design cleverly uses natural light to create a bright and transparent sense of space. The walls of the room are almost entirely made of glass, which not only makes the interior and exterior landscapes perfectly connected, but also makes people feel close to nature. In the morning, when the first ray of sunlight gently shines into the room, it feels like awakening in the arms of nature. Although the room is mainly made of glass, there is no expected high temperature or poor sound insulation. Instead, the environment here is unusually quiet, providing me with an ideal place to rest. The design of the glass house is simple and stylish, focusing on practicality and comfort, which perfectly reflects the design concept of Bava - the building and the surrounding environment are harmoniously symbiotic, creating a peaceful and peaceful atmosphere. I was worried that natural light would affect sleep, but I experienced a very comfortable night in the glass house. The bed was extremely comfortable and I enjoyed a good quality of sleep. When I left, I deeply regretted not being able to stay here for a few more days. - - Hopefully this version will convey your love for Lunuganka more clearly.

I stayed at the Wild Coast Tented Lodge of the same group before, so I didn't have a serious injury without comparison. The scenery is good, the beach is beautiful, but the room is very ordinary It opened not long ago, but the room facilities are a bit old, the floor and sofa are not very good I had dinner, the sashimi was full of thorns longer than nails, and several of them were playing dumb The crab was empty and the meat was scattered The seafood platter said lobster, but it didn't show up The pork belly smelled of mutton The only thing that was okay was the mushroom pasta that tasted like a fast food restaurant

The hotel is still relatively beautiful, the service is very warm, the room is large, the bed is relatively high, the lady may be slightly troublesome, but the hotel as a whole is still very beautiful, it is recommended, the location is better, the location is good, the location is not in the ancient city, because the ancient city is not big
