"The Manor House is an oasis in the Fancourt Estate. It is a small boutique hotel, so has a very intimate atmosphere. The honesty bar is very characterful and the lounge with afternoon tea is a great touch. The rooms are large and well-equipped and have a complimentary mini-bar with decent wines and a selection of spirits. But what makes the place is the service. The staff are excellent and cannot be faulted; they are friendly and go the extra mile. Even if you are not into golf, it is a good base for the area and is somewhere I would highly recommend."

"The most wonderful hotel stay i have experienced in a long time. This place has excellent written all over it. I’ve been to George South Africa over 12 times and so glad I found this hidden gem. From our arrival we were greeted by Tamhi. An excellent and well mannered young man who gave us a full tour of the hotel and the facilities. Not to mention his help throughout our stay in organising a golfing trip at kingswood to being on hand if we needed anything in the room. To the bar staff in the evenings the two young gentlemen were absolutely first class and took care of all our needs. The staff were amazing and some of the best I’ve come across. Breakfast, what can I say wow, so tasty and prepared to perfection. I’ve stayed in many places across George South Africa and I can assure you this is the first place I would check out when returning again. Thank you for having us and I look forward to returning again soon. "

"During our recent stay in George, we visited Oubaai, located about a 20-minute drive from Fancourt, with our family as part of a group. ⸻ First Impressions & Setting The entrance to Oubaai is beautiful and distinctive, offering an elevated view overlooking the resort. The design carries a brick-style architecture that is somewhat unconventional – a feature some guests may find charming and unique. The brick pathways run throughout the property, and its location near a river adds a tranquil touch to the setting. ⸻ Dining Experience & Service We enjoyed a lovely meal at the hotel. The food was fresh and well-prepared, and the service stood out for its warmth and professionalism. The kitchen staff were attentive, and a lady supervisor in particular was extremely helpful and welcoming. As we were a large group, space in the main dining area was limited, so we ended up eating near the restaurant lobby. While unconventional, the staff accommodated us well and ensured we were comfortable. ⸻ Atmosphere & Facilities The outdoor space feels more limited compared to larger resorts, offering more of a small-village vibe, which suits its style well. The property is spotlessly clean and well-maintained. A nice highlight for families was the small but well-organised Kids Club area, which provided a pleasant activity space for children. ⸻ Overall Impression Oubaai offers a quiet, charming, and well-kept environment with good food, excellent service, and a unique architectural style. While space in the dining area can be limited for large groups, the staff’s hospitality and adaptability ensured an enjoyable experience. Its village-like character and warm atmosphere make it a pleasant stop for families visiting the George area"

The Tops

"The Tops really lives up to it's name with the best view in wilderness! The rooms are clean and beautiful, and the breakfast is great. Be prepared for a lot of stairs, but there is a luggage lift to make things easier. Within walking distance of the main street where most of the resturants are situated. My only (minor) complaint was that the parking is a little bit tricky. All in all a fantastic stay, I will definitely be back!"

"Lovely magical place. Little caravans converted into a bed / kitchenette / bathroom. Magical private outdoor space, outdoor bed and living room in a greenhouse. Fairy lights and decor to feast the eyes on. Perfect place to go and chill out. Lovely friendly owners, super helpful and love life. Off the beaten track for those adventure seekers with an open mind and a sense of humour. Small touches are well noted, awesome coffee and excellent linen with the most comfortable bed ever! Remember you cannot drive your car though to the establishment, you have to walk to it, so could be a problem in the rain..."
