We got a really good rate through the Trip website. Kelsey on reception changed our room because there was no bath in the first room. The staff at the hotel were very smartly dressed. The food at breakfast was excellent. We are two nights in Macleod. Again the food was excellent. We would recommend this hotel. The only negative was if you hadn’t booked a spa break you had to pay £30 each to use the pool.

Disappointed. So looking forward to the visit as a gift for my partners retirement. Receptionist were kind and helpful, staff too. Diner was lovely and atmosphere relaxed. The claypigeon shoot was brilliant and the guide so welcoming. What let's the hotel down, shabby room, paint peeling, uncomfortable bed, dirty bathroom wit .mildew and inspite of telling staff, nothing was done. Then the spa, what a let down, firstly no access via hotel you have to walk in your dressing gown. No staff in attendance, no welcoming drink, water all over the floor, no water cups. If you wanted a drink you had to go out into the very small restaurant where a sullen girl served you. Felt like a local swimming pool not luxury spa. Inspite of complaining, I was brushed off with oh dear and presented with the bill. Needless to say I felt very let down as I'd saved up to give my partner a retirement treat. I could see how Disappointed he was.

Did the twilight spa and overnight stay, twilight spa is a nice setting but the constant noise of the extractor fan from the building doesn't give a relaxing setting, our room had holes in the walls and bath seals were full of mould. Sent an email to the hotel but had no response.

We’ve often drove pass on our way up to Settle and said how we would love to stay - you can imagine are delight when we was given a voucher as a Xmas present. Booking in was easy and the receptionist Eve was a breath of fresh air with her big smile and providing all the information we required. The room was very spacious with plenty of storage / iron and board/water/tea & coffee / large double bed and a walk in shower - saying all that the room was a little tired and could of done with some tlc see photos. We did eat in the view restaurant which is set out lovely -we didn’t manage to get a table by the window instead we sat near the open fire which was lovely. I didn’t think the food was to a AA rosette standard in fact we thought it was over priced and very average. Breakfast was totally different lots of selections - the eggs Benedict was the best I’d ever had and the staff were very warm and welcoming. I cannot comment on the spa as we didn’t take advantage of the facilities but wish we had as some of the guest who had used the facility said it was fabulous. Next time we drive passed we can say “ we’ve stayed there”

I’ll start at the beginning but I will warn you now I don’t have a single good word to say about this place. We pre-booked the view restaurant for our 10 year anniversary and stated on the booking that this was for our anniversary. We booked this place based on the reviews and somewhere we wouldn’t normally go. We are not local to area either so it was a special treat. Upon entering we were greeted by a friendly receptionist and continued to make our way to the restaurant where we saw two staff members, one male with his back to us and one female who saw us but continued to chat with her colleague. I do not know what they were discussing but I do know we had to wait until they were finished before we were acknowledged. A simple ‘hello we’ll be right with you’ would have been perfect in this scenario. Once acknowledged we were greeted with ‘hi’ and no warm welcome or smiles. We said we had prebooked and were then escorted to a table that was so close to others we said we may as well join the tables together. The restaurant was mainly empty so I don’t understand why we were placed here but we did then witness other couples arriving and being seated apart round the edge of the room. We were not happy as we felt like we were eating with the two tables next to us, felt we had to be quiet about our discussions as they were so close and couldn’t understand why we weren’t seated round the edge of the room with plenty of surrounding space. We were asked if we were staying at the hotel and we said no. From that point we waited over 20minutes before we had to ask someone to take our drinks orders as we watched guests that had arrived after us all enjoying drinks and ordering food. We couldn’t understand why we were being ignored. The drinks order and delivery of drinks were by two different staff members. We then waited another 10 minutes, after seeing other people getting their food that had arrived after us, before having to ask someone different again to take our food order. My partner ordered the steak and I ordered the steak sandwich. My steak was so blue and fatty it was no edible at all. I left the entire dish. My partner on the other hand said his meal was lovely and had no complaints about that. We then waited with our finished plates in front of us for another 10/15minutes before we had to ask yet another member of staff for the bill as we’d had enough at this point. No one checked in on us during our email. Even when the bill was delivered no one cleared our plates or asked why my whole dish hadn’t been touched or if it was ok. Witnessing how other guests were treated during this service was entirely different to our experience. Our 10 year anniversary was ruined and this establishment couldn’t care less about our experience. My partner waited a further 10minutes from receiving the bill to still have no one come back and had to go to the bar to pay whilst we watched other guests have card machines brought to their table. I have never in my

Excellent place and tailored service from all staff. Particular mentions to Simran, Jen, Anna Catherine and lovely girl on reception. Great food and pastry chef. Great for couple's. Spa was great as drinks are brought to you. Great location and will definitely be returning.

Overall, 3.5* for our dinner/bed/breakfast/ spa visit, which had been bought as a birthday present for £400. Negatives: The room makes up over half the value of the voucher. It is spacious, clean and functional but feels very "budget". The bed was made up of 2 single beds pushed together. The electric heater on the wall and tea/coffee facilities also had a cheap feel. We spent over £500on a 1 night stay including spa treatment so was hoping for a room facing the lake+dales rather than a car park. I've seen comments from others that they would move you to a lake view room if you pay extra! Positives: The spa was extremely nice and we both enjoyed the facilities, especially the outdoor jacuzzi when the sun was going down and the stars were coming out on a cold Jan evening. The evening meal was really tasty. I had fish of the day (sea bream) and chocolate brownie which was excellent. The staff were good, but after asking for our bill it took them 30minutes to sort which was annoying ("dinner" in the deal means £35allowance per person, you have to pay the difference). Breakfast was ok. We had a table by the window which did provide a good view. The bean portion was tiny;the tomato was undercooked. I declined mushrooms and black pudding but the other bits were ok. 2 sausage would be nice. We went for a walk around the grounds before we left, which is highly recommended. Overall I would recommend the spa+restaurant - they were excellent, but I think the room+breakfast at the premier inn down the road would be better for a fraction of the price.
