The Prince of Wales Hotel Berkeley, A38 M5

We stayed at this hotel because we were attending the opening of their new restaurant The Ashville. Firstly we were greated by the receptionist who had a lovely smile. The hotel has just had a refurbishment and it was very pleasant. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and there was plenty of water and tea/coffee facilities in the room. 1 constructive criticism is the floor in the bathroom exceptionally slippery when dry. The Ashville restaurant what can I say excellent. Sandor has brought his sensational Steakhouse to The Prince Of Wales. Looking forward to the future of this establishment.

This was a last minute booking as was left stranded in the area due to work. The hotel has recently been fully renovated and looks very contemporary and comfortable. Rooms are clean and well appointed with comfortable bed and nice pillows. As I was an unexpected guest I had no plugs to charge my phones though the receptionist was very helpful. Very good value bar and comfortable lounging area adjacent to it. Big grand opening in a few days. Only complaint I have is that all hotels these days including this one should have at least one double socket with a usbc and usb socket. Travellers take leads as they can be used in cars we don’t take the plugs as well. All-in-all a very pleasant and relaxing experience. The very nice receptionist also mentioned that it’s being used by visitors to a certain famous farm shop and pub near Chipping Norton due to its proximity. Will definitely keep that in mind for my next visit.

The staff and the new owner who has taken over the insolvent hotel are only keen on siphoning money from innocent occupants as their service is so substandard and below par .The reception and the hotel are not manned at all most of the time as they prefer to work from home despite their staff falsely claiming that it gets manned every day till 10pm . I had the misfortune of staying in one of their rooms that had a 10 year old mattress where the top layer fillings had become worn out due to age and had also started to expose those sharp coil springs.The exposure is within the cover of the mattress so you can feel it . These out of shape coil springs were causing so much discomfiture to the body when lying over them . Soon after that ordeal I did raise a complaint the very next morning on their whats app group chat asking them to refund me a partial amount for the inconvenience I had experienced . But they were so keen to gloss over their failures with some plausible specious reasonings so that they don't have to entertain any refunds . This clearly shows their acquisitive greed to make money at all costs .But Mathew Rich doesn't know without our custom he won't be able to make any money at all . The lady called Sofia who was handling my complaint came up with these fallacious reasonings to justify their conduct . If Mathew Rich thinks that there is no case to answer why not publicly display the mattresses and confirm they are not worn out at all . I am happy to go there with a cameraman and expose their gross negligence if they agree to allow the cameras inside . I .don't think he would have ever used those 10 year old mattresses in the hotels in Qatar when plying his trade in hospitality. . . I hope people would read .my review and avoid them as plague. . In addition to my saga there was also a lady who had locked herself out of her room last Sunday (the 6th July ) waiting at the reception for 45 minutes trying to speak to someone to secure some help . It shows thst they would not compromise their trademark service style "money at all costs".. What a maxim to follow for making money .

Avoid - this has been used as an asylum hotel for some years and it shows. Still with discarded vehicles in the car park. The place has clearly had a cosmetic once over but needs a proper refurbishment. So many better hotels within a decent distance!!

My brother aged 90 booked bed and breakfast ,when he arrived he asked to put some special eye drops in their fridge vital they are kept cold .He was told no and despite having paid for his and friends stay ,they would not let him stay (very rude) and refuse to refund him.what a way to treat an elderly person.

This hotel is in a great location between Dursley/Berkeley/Gloucester/Bristol It is nice & quiet The price is wonderful as it feels like I've been in 4/5 * hotel feeling The owners are friendly They have a bar which is open until 10pm There is attractions to visit Plenty of restaurants within 5miles of the hotel I have really has been a fantastic stay, I will be back again!
