After reading some of the reviews before staying at this hotel I have to say I'm not surprised. I totally agree with the comments that this is not a true 5 star hotel at all. The positives are the location, the pool area and the rooms (to an extent). From one way its only a short walk to the medina and from the other it's a short walk to the beach bars. The pool area is well maintained and very attracting. The rooms are a good size with comfy bed and powerful shower and they are very clean. However, we started off by having to change rooms as the room we were first given had a chipped bath - all the paint had come up off the bottom of the bath so it was unusable, the staff solved this pretty quickly by offering us a room of the same standard one floor above. Nevertheless, I find it shocking that a 5 star hotel would not maintain their rooms in the first place. We found the cleaning staff and concierges very friendly. Some of the breakfast staff and beach staff, less so. One day we sat on the beach beds and felt looked down on and were not treated as well as some of the other guests. This really put us off and prevented us using this area again. Not sure if this is because we are a younger/mixed couple? Overall, the hotel is lacking in a lot of areas and the Accor group need to look into this. I would definitely visit Essaouira again but would probably rent an apartment since the beach and medina have so many options anyway!

The hygiene of the room was good, but we booked a room with two beds. The distance between the two beds is so small that they feel like they are connected together. And because it is a resort hotel, there is no place to put the computer in the room, and there is no decent table. It seems like people over there don't use computers at all when they're on vacation. In addition, it took me a long time to find the charging socket. It was on the side. A small socket on the side of a tree-stump chair. The panel of the socket falls off as soon as it is plugged in. The shower room has no curtain or door.

It’s okay soon, the hotel in Morocco is basically the same, and there is a small episode in the middle. We waited for the kung fu waiter in the downstairs to think that we checked out and left the things in the room, but it’s all right. Looking back, everything else is ok

5 stars are not enough for this beautiful Riad, everything was perfect! I tried to find the tiniest imperfection but couldn’t Even before coming here the communication was easy & Hicham was very smart to understand what I wanted from the e-mails I sent. What we loved : - the check in was smooth and we were offered some tea -the turtle was so cute -my husband was happy with the big birthday cake and decoration of the room -the room was beautiful & cozy, I was hesitant to book cause of outside noise, but no we could hear nothing from outside it even rained on the last day and we didn’t know! - the bathtub is the star of the show, oriental decoration & candles I felt like I was in 1001 night fairytale. - there is a Jacuzzi at the terrasse, which is also perfect for sunbathing -the breakfast was nice. There was juice, fruits, msemen, eggs… -housekeeping service is done everyday with so much care -anything we needed we just asked them and they brought it to us with a big smile -all workers where very professional, helpful, with a perfect English, didn’t even ask for any name cause I felt they’ve been all on a 5 star level and very helpful Even the booking was so easy as on their website I could find a description for all their 7 rooms with pictures. We will surely come back here, it will be our go to when coming to Essaouira, we actually need to comeback as we still need to visite essaouira because we stayed mostly in our cute room and even added one more night.
GGuest UserWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riad Emotion, it was everything we had hoped, small, intimate and quiet. The owners Philippe and Gisele clearly love their home and rightly so, their attention to detail is everywhere. It's a charming place, in a wonderful central location, close to everything. Rooms, especially the Suites are large and well appointed, with huge comfortable beds and lovely little touches, including seating outside the room, which we loved, especially to hear the sea and watch the tuneful little birds fly in and out to feed their young. The staff are ever so friendly and attentive. Breakfast is one of the best we have had in a riad - the yogurt is divine. Thank you Philippe and Gisele for a lovely, relaxing 4 night stay.
GGuest UserStayed at Essaouira Lodge in August 2022 having booked it 2 years prior but postponed due to COVID. At the time of original booking we were impressed by the other reviews all saying how flexible the resort was, especially the shuttle service to and from Essaouira. Unfortunately this was not the experience we had - shuttle spots were limited and timetable was inflexible and we very much felt like times were engineered to keep you at the lodge for meal times, alternative being that you would be stuck in Essaouira for minimum of 4 hours. And that was if the shuttle ran on time which it did not. Local taxis are ”not allowed” to go to the resort so the only alternative are expensive tourist taxis. Food and drinks at Essaouira Lodge was nice but quite expensive, a family of 4 evening meal costing approx 80Euro not including alcohol. The staff were all really nice, but the service was less than ideal - Never enough loungers around the pool for the guests staying at the lodge, and the lodge would also take external guests making the situation worse. Pool towels were also rarely available. At breakfast every day there would not be enough coffee cups, you ALWAYS had to ask for something and as helpful as the staff were to provide what you needed, the next day would be the same situation again. We also had to change accommodation due to stray dogs in the resort waking us up at 6am.... the reception staff were less than helpful and actually became quite rude when we tried to arrange a change of room. Even after we changed rooms there were issues with ant infestations and the amenities not working - we tried to use the oven on 3 evenings to avoid the high restaurant prices but each time had to call for maintenance to come and fix the oven before we could use it. All in all we had a nice holiday, relaxing by the pool when we could secure loungers. But the Essaouira Lodge is not without its issues and despite the friendly staff, no improvements were made one day to the next. I would not recommend Essaouira Lodge and we will not return.
AantoineLovely riad inside the Medina but also very close to the bus station. Decoration could be a bit updated but we definitely have the charm of a riad. I would have prefer to be able to go in and out without knocking at main the door entrance each team but I guess it’s for safety reasons. Breakfast is not crazy but not bad and in winter the turn on the fireplace wich make a very nice vibe.
Staff is discret but friendly
GGuest UserWell... Where to Start ... I ve been taking group of 22 dancers to Morocco for more than 22 years ... This year we planned Essaouira ... As I worked in collaboration with Hotel des Iles before... I just expected the same welcome we used to get ... But it looks like they have a New Manager who seem to know all and nothing at all ... Our Food during the week was appalling and a mediocre Tasteless with tiny portions and Dry ( Hardly any sauces served) .. That s such a shame as we re in one the best countries of the world when it comes to Food and welcoming ... Plus we had consistent comments on the dancing elements.. why were people dancing ( even in our initial emails it states the purpose of the visit ?????? ( what this got to do with him .... ff..... knows) But I ll have to give credit to the Friendly staff who never fail to please the group.. I don t usually leave Reviews But I feel this needs to reach the main Boss of the Hotel ...
