The sea view room has a great view and a small loft. The price/performance ratio is really high, you can walk right to the beach, and the nearby restaurants and sightseeing spots are all good! My boyfriend said it was the first time in the UK that I could live in such a big room at such a cheap price. The room is relatively old, but to be honest, all buildings in the UK are like this, they are hundreds of years old.

Old-fashioned hotel, the lobby is small and a little outdated. You can see the sea in the breakfast room. This time, the sea view room is super large and relatively clean. You can fall asleep to the sound of the waves every day. It is about a 20-minute walk along the seaside boulevard from the center of the old city of Hasting.

I left my electric toothbrush in the bathroom by mistake when I checked out, and when I rang later to ask about it they claimed not to have found it, and despite a week of chasing what might have happened to it, I have ended up buying another, with no contribution from the hotel. So either their protocols for property left behind sucks, or worse! Breakfast was luke warm too, btw, and the whole place is a bit tired, with rattly sash windows keeping me awake until I wedged them shut.

Please do not stay here, the rooms are from the 70s, smell, the bathroom was full of mold. This hotel is dated and makes you feel dirty. How you can call this a hotel I have no idea. Please do not stay here. Is not in a great area and quite scary when out and about. As soon as you come back into the room you can feel the mold.

First class comfortable hotel with super friendly professional welcoming staff .The hotel has been traditionally and stylishly refurbished and I can wholeheartedly recommend it . The bar restaurant and most importantly the friendly staff really are excellent . For a hotel of this quality the price represents really good value and it won’t be long before I’m back !

great find. lovely old period hotel. Afternoon tea is amazing value for money , huge room and even had a bath . Staff really good .overlooking the sea , the suites are well worth the extra cost. can’t really fault it . Buffet breakfast was great . can’t really fault the place

The staff were nice but the hotel was just ok. It was probably very grand in it’s day but is looking a bit shabby now. The room was very big and was clean and comfortable and had a lovely view of the sea but it really needs updating. You could see repairs had been made but not been ‘made good’ afterwards. Again, the bathroom was clean but there was some mould on the ceiling. For some reason the pull cord for the bathroom light was so high up I couldn’t reach it … much to my husband and teenage son’s amusement! (For reference, I am 5 foot). The food on the other hand was not great, it’s not worth paying for breakfast. You’d be better off going for a walk along the prom to one of the cafes. There is very limited parking but there is a large car park just across the road.

Don't be deceived by the website, this hotel is in near of serious investment both on the infrastructure and staff. Hastings as a town suffers from a lack of good quality hotel accommodation and the Royal Victoria is a typical example of that. The furniture is dated and scruffy, the bathrooms need an upgrade notably the showers. The Piano bar does not have a piano, just a collection of tables and there are very few staff, for example only one staff member coordinating breakfast so service was slow with no ability to order a latte "until the bar opens at 11.00" I would say avoid but finding good quality hotel accommodation in Hastings is not easy.

We checked in at 3 pm. The receptionist was very helpful. 4pm our friends arrived checked into the superior mezzanine room they had booked online directly with the hotel. To be told that is not the room you have. You are in a suite, It’s still £180. We paid £139 for the same room. The receptionist Lauren was very unhelpful, she could not contact a manager. No managers available. No contact details. We just felt that it would be fair for them to pay the same as us. She said no. We said what happens if you have an emergency?she said ‘they don’t really have any?’ It’s a nice period hotel. Feels like going back in time. So disappointing that we feel ripped off and their response was so dismissive.

Been here a few times. Love the faded grandeur and original early victoriam mahogany everywhere. Plus the staff are always great.

We woke up to find bed bugs in our bed and on us. Informed front desk, who rang the owner when we asked for a refund. We didn't feel comfortable taking another room knowing bed bugs could be in there as well. When front desk told the owner that cleaning staff had also found bedbugs, we heard him say 'tell them I'm not here' before the call ended. It was fairly awkward and I felt really sorry for the person on front desk who was trying to help us. I've been trying to secure a refund ever since but despite a helpful conversation a fortnight ago, have heard nothing. I've been told the owner was at a conference when he said he wasn't there, but I heard what I heard and it felt like somebody trying to avoid responsibility. In any case, the fact I've still not heard from him despite calls and emails is the same issue. I regret having to post this as the hotel has such potential. We loved the older decor, but I'm not sure this is deliberate. It felt like a place without much care, for the building, it's staff or it's guests.
