The only reason for not giving a 5 star review is purely due the slightly dated decor of which anyone can turn a blind eye to. The staff were truly amazing, they went out of their way to help. The grounds and views are breath taking. An ideal location for hill walking or leaving the family to enjoy the pool facilities and relax in these wonderful surroundings. Will definately be returning : )

This was an awful hotel. The bar closed at 9pm, we were there for a celebration. The shower in our room switched on but we couldn’t switch it off for over an hour. Our friend’s door didn’t lock. There was a BBQ before a wedding which supplied dry baps, no atmosphere, and a refugee supply for food that night. I’ve stayed in much nicer hostels than this hotel and would never stay here again. This hotel could be amazing but with huge investment.

Really enjoyed our stay at Baskerville Hall. I visited with Group of Bikers and was very impressed. The staff are fantastic and couldn't do enough to ensure you had the best stay. I look forward to returning again later this year. If you are dining with them, we recommend the Steak Pie or Faggots.

Attended Baskerville last year as part of a biker group. They visit every year and after being married to one for so long and never experiencing one of their weekends i thought i would go along. I am so impressed with this place and all the amazing staff that go with it, they all went above and beyond to make our groups gathering special and it was. We weren't the only group staying that weekend, so it was lovely to see how versatile the hotel is with what they do, it would seem they put their hand to everything. The hotel itself is a little run down, but i think that adds charm and character to your whole experience. Don't stay here if you are expecting the Ritz, stay here if you want to have a lovely warm welcoming stay with good value for money food and drink.

Helpful staff, great food, lamb shank was huge, cfaggotsvdelicious. Beautiful stair case, perfect for a wedding photo, rooms downstairs to match for an event. Room was comfortable but very tired, needs an upgrade. Furniture was damaged but functional.

Camped in a tent so could have been better, the grass was long and rough. Feel the portacabin like toilets and showers should be more permanent but that's a personal view, they were adequate .The washing up facilities had cold water and were not covered. However the setting is amazing, the hall is wonderful, just could be bettered for the camping. They should also think about their recycling and rubbish areas.

I come to Baskerville about twice a year - for the Festival and then for a few days away with friends in the summer. From the moment I arrive at the beautiful drive up to the Hotel, I am reminded what a special place this is. Yes, it has it's quirks - what building of that age and with such fascinating history wouldn't have, but with breathtaking sunrises, delicious food with generous portions, lovely, friendly staff with a great sense of humour, a swim before breakfast and stunning surroundings etc... I love it! Hay is a gorgeous town to explore and the walks in the mountains are wonderful. Everytime I come I find something else I like about the place and it's usually a bit quirky! A big thank you to all the people who work there.

We stayed 2 nights in our motorhome celebrating our anniversary .it was a lovely sight great views we were able to use the hotel facilities, there was so much character about the building and grounds ,but it was the staff that made it so memorable they went out of there way to make us feel welcome, Paul and owner david do a fantastic job definately worth a second visit or more
