As soon as I entered the room, I saw two whales spraying water on the beach on the balcony. It deserves to be called a whale watching town, with sea view + whale, the scenery is really good."

"The experience at Whale Rock was excellent from check in to check out. Pros (some not mentioned in description)... great breakfast and good options & Service 100%. We stayed in room 4, which was well furnished with a great view. The bed was super comfy. Pool area is great with areas of shade and sun at most times of the day. Staff are excellent and so accomodating, you could not ask for more. Cons If you drive to the hotel using Sat Nav, it can route you through a local "shanty" area, which can be a bit disconcerting, however be 100% assured this is not a problem, as with many places in many places around the world, just be sensible. Drive in and out, or use tuk-taxis after dark and you will be completely safe."

"Lovely stay for 3 nights in Hermanus and Guest House was ideal. Great safe location (security gates at front of drive although Hermanus seems very safe town anyway) Situated a bout 5 min drive on main road to the town. Spacious. clean room and access to outdoor patio and large, private bathroom. Special mention to Kirsten our host whose communication was first class and always there to help and give us some tips on things to do on our stay."

"Thank you !!!! The stay was magnificent from arrival to departure. A most thorough walk through of the room, tv controls, locking the doors - access to the Lodge etc.etc. was most welcome. A view of the beach which took our breath away - we enjoyed the view whenever posible. a walk path along the beach - make it!! See the whales from the Lodge - great fun. The breakfast: Never seen anything like it - espicially the yoghurt and fruits. Dinner? We found the "hopside down" - a very local restaurant - just 100-150 meters away. No large menu but good food and wine we thought. We stayed for 2 days at the Lodge and went to this restaurant both evenings."

Lots of noise, dust and materials all around so it was impossible to sit outside plus the pool was green from all the debris. There really should have been some notification about the work being done."

"Had 4 nights at west Coast Ocean Villa and apart from some building work going on next door it was faultless. Lovely room, beautiful host Aurelia was a joy every morning, overseeing the excellent breakfast service, and always offering conversation and local advice with a warm smile. A short stroll to the local beach and the Ocean Coastal path makes the location perfect albeit slightly out of Hermanus, a bonus for some. Contemplating a return visit soon!"
