The amenities are top-notch, the fridge contained still and sparkling water, the hotel had great heating options, the staff even filled our hot water bottles for us while we were away. The staff were very attentive, even going so far as to follow our habits and patterns to cater the room specifically to our needs. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in staying in hermanus."

"Spent 3 nights at Whale Rock lodge where we were upgraded to their top room 1 which was huge and very luxurious The staff are very knowledgeable about local attractions and eating venues which we took on board and enhanced our visit Delicious breakfast with huge selection Great local taxi service to town at 100 rand return Extensive grounds to enjoy with a good sized swimming pool Great cliff walk into town from their doorstep and very secure with local security until 5pm daily Hermanus has some great shops too and numerous restaurants our favourite being La Pentola Restaurant in Hermanus."

"We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is stunning and very peaceful. The staff especially Rory were all very helpful . We normally like to eat out in restaurants but the food here was so good we ate here twice during our three night stay. Drinks in the lounge before dinner were so relaxing and we were never rushed to sit down for dinner. Some of the rooms overlooked the lagoon but we had a mountain view which was picturesque with comfortable lounge chairs on the patio to take in the view . We have rebooked for next year but increased our stay to five nights ."

"Unfortunately my wife was ill and was unable to travel. I reached out to the hotel directly to explain that as my wife was having a major operation and having an unfit to travel document we would very much like to rebook at a later date . However the hotel showed no empathy or sympathy and refused our request . Money is there only consideration putting their own financial gain and profit before a woman undergoing cancer treatment! I will add the only hotel along the garden route that has shown such a shameful attitude. Way goes around comes around !"

"Stayed at their apt 9 waterfront apt. Great instructions for checking in and getting the keys. The photos made it very easy. The apartment is nicely decorated and has everything you need for your stay. The pool area upstairs was lovely and the central location was perfect. A little noisey on a weekend, but nothing horrendous and it's the price you pay for being right in the centre. View was good, more than a side sea view, that is advertised. Nice having milk and coffee when you arrive,dsaves you having to shop on the day you get there. Plenty of space in the apartment and good sized bathroom. Had a few issues with the lights but was sorted quickly. Also note had issues with the Netflix, but used our own account, so didn't cause any problem. Note.. There is only Netflix in the room, no standard sabc TV. Parking was no problem. All in all had a great stay and would recommend and stay again. Karien was very helpful as a host."

The owner, Martin introduced us to the property and he and the staff were so nice for our stay . A good breakfast started every day well. It’s a very short walk into town and there’s lots of restaurants and bars to enjoy."

"We spent two nights, in October, at this lovely guest house at the start of our trip along the Garden Route and we loved our time here. We were warmly welcomed by Marvin and quickly settled in. We liked that the car was safely parked at night and that we could easily walk to everywhere in Hermanus, which we really enjoyed...plenty of restaurants, shops and the gorgeous walk along the coast headland. Our room wasn't large, but was immaculate and very comfortable. The view from the breakfast room was stunning and breakfast was delicious. Natasha was very friendly and helpful and we would definitely stay at La Contains if we ever return to Hermanus."
