"Basic structure, the rooms are quite cold with only a small heated plate near the bed. There is also a heated blanket. The very large bathroom has no heating. Minimal breakfast, a little salty and little sweet. It is not possible to have an espresso or short coffee, only the cup of American coffee. The internal parking is useful and allows you to keep your car safe. The restaurant area is not far away but as it is dark at 6pm it is best not to venture out on foot."

"This is a huge two-story, three-bedroom apartment in a shopping center with shops downstairs—very convenient! It's literally 5 minutes to the waterfront, so the location is excellent! The room is nice, clean, and spacious, and for the price, it's fantastic! There's underground parking."

"Hotel is centrally situated amidst shopping and eating streets. It is also a 3 min walk to the water front and boardwalk. Staff are good. However, amenities are only soap, shampoo and lotion. No showercap, bedroom slippers, robes, etc. Breakfast is simple but good."

"We stayed at 1 Marine Drove for two nights and could not have been happier with our choice. The welcome was warm and informative - it is rare these days to be shown to your room and all of the amenities available but this was the welcome we received. Secure underground car park, and close to the town - the view is ridiculously beautiful. Breakfast choices were plentiful and the quality of ingredients and cooking superb. We felt very looked after throughout our stay. Everyone is super friendly. We stayed in room 17 which was spacious and clean and again with excellent facilities and complimentary sustainable products. We love the idea of collecting excess water in a bucket for re-use in the garden ! We had no issue with the kettle and coffee machine being outside of the room, it felt like an extension of our space The town and shops and restaurants are about a 10 minute walk away. The coastal path is easily accessible and provides a nice route to walk. We definitely recommend and will return."

The owner, Martin introduced us to the property and he and the staff were so nice for our stay . A good breakfast started every day well. It’s a very short walk into town and there’s lots of restaurants and bars to enjoy."

"Gorgeous hotel, well appointed in a quiet residential area of Hermanus, we stayed in the Villa part of the property, a reasonably new addition lovely, bright and modern big comfy beds and gorgeous bathrooms, and with solar power so no load shedding issues here. Breakfasts every day were cooked to order and delicious, plus the buffet pancakes were delicious. The pool area is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day. They also have an honesty bar, which is very handy, too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will for sure return. We must really thank Aspen, who's great customer service, made our stay magical and special. Thank you so much for having us and looking after us so well"

"Just had 2 days at the Birkenhead in Hermanus, what a privilege it has been to experience this incredible all inclusive boutique hotel. From the moment you pull up at the entrance your car and luggage are quickly ushered away and a cocktail will be in your hand within minutes and a fantastic cocktail it will be to. This is a boutique hotel with the service and ambience to match any luxury top hotel, it is truly like at home. Our rooms had a beautiful decor, outside seating for a private drink, a huge bed and a bathroom that was seen to be believed. There is no skimping on all inclusive, full minibar with bottles of whisky, brandy, gin, vodka and the African liqueur. Wine and beer plus beautiful chocolates and nibbles etc. Food and drink are in plentiful supply and are at the standard you would expect for such a hotel. Breakfast overlooking the sea and beach watching the surfers. Lunch in the shade by the middle pool, wonderful and dinner in the amazing lounge area to watch the sun go down and sit by the log fire. The staff outnumber the guest and they are predicting what you want before you have asked. The staff are warm and friendly huge thanks to Chris, Luca, Lila and Dexter to mention just a few for taking such good care of us. Birkenhead a unique and special experience not quite like anything else I have experienced. Loved our stay and the team made every effort to make us feel special."

She supported us with excellent restaurant recommendations and gave valuable tips for day trips in the area. The generous breakfast deserves special mention, offering a wide selection of fresh fruit and various freshly prepared egg dishes. Everything was beautifully presented and of high quality. The rooms are very spacious and thoughtfully decorated with great attention to detail. In the room, coffee, tea, and water are provided. The bathroom is perfectly equipped — nothing is missing. There are even candles to create a relaxing atmosphere in the bathtub, as well as tissues and many small extras that make a difference. Thank you, Celia, for hosting us so warmly at Selkirk House. "We have been coming to SA for the past 30 years and this is without a doubt the best hotel we’ve ever stayed. We came with my two young kids (and the grandparents), and it was truly a home away from home. The food is sublime, the facilities PERFECT for young kids and adults alike (small pool, tonnes of space to run, playground, tennis, the lake, kayaks etc), the rooms are the most spacious and beautiful I’ve come across, and the staff are gorgeous and warm and wonderful. What’s more, the kids video monitors would stretch from our bedroom, so we could put the kids to bed and have a delicious 3 course meal in peace overlooking the mountains or the water. We had the best time and I really couldn’t recommend The Thatched House enough. We will be back every single year forever more!"

"We had a little trouble accessing the property as the gate intercom was lacking credit. Once we checked in everything was good. There was space to sit outside in the sun and enjoy the fresh air. It was an easy walk in to town to choose a place for dinner or to walk along the seafront and enjoy the views. We had a comfortable room, bed and pillows and woke to the sound of birds chirping happily. Breakfast was plentiful and we left refreshed."
