Marni Village

This hotel exceeded our expectations in every single way. We had a really spacious one bedroom apartment overlooking the sea which had everything we needed, and the hotel grounds itself were beautifully presented and clean. The hotel is in close proximity to the village of Koutouloufari where we had some nice meals out but we ate in the hotel restaurant a lot. There was an extensive menu, beautiful views of both the sea and the mountains, and the most wonderful staff so we chose to spend our time there. It was also really quiet due to the time of year which suited us better. We really enjoyed the Greek night and the live music on a Sunday too. The hotel has several pools although we spent most of our days exploring the island. Whilst the hotel would get a 5 star review from me regardless, it is the staff that work here that bring energy, comfort, and joy to the place. A special mention to Angelos, Marina, and Chantal, however the rest of the restaurant and bar team were also wonderful. They went above and beyond, by giving us tips about where to go on the island, sharing stories with us, and laughing with us the entire time. They made us feel really special and it was very difficult to say goodbye. We have never been somewhere on holiday that we liked so much that we would return over going somewhere new, or would even return to the same hotel, yet we are looking to return to Marni Village this October, proving that this place is very special indeed.

Just spent 9 nights here can highly recommend it, we had a 4 bed villa with pool, staff were so friendly ,food was good 5 min walk to restaurants and bars about 25 min down hill walk to beach and more restaurants and bars the only 1 down side is its on a hill and steep in some parts but I'm waiting for knee operation and managed

We booked a studio apartment with private plunge pool. The resort is beautiful; we loved that it was in the traditional Cretan style; not overcrowded; the staff were all so friendly and efficient. The place itself is sited at the top of a hill in a Cretan village. It's about 25 minutes walk down the hill to the busier resort of Hersonissus where there are lots of shops/bars/restaurants. Our choice was to stay mostly in the village of Koutouloufari where the resort is. This is populated with around 40 traditional restaurants and tavernas and a few tourist shops and supermarkets. We loved the ambience of the village; the restaurant and shop staff were so friendly and remembered everyone who came in. The food and drinks were good quality and reasonably priced. We will definitely go back!

Spent 10 days here in mid October. As a family of 4, we stayed in a maisonette which was a good size for us. The maisonette was lovely, very clean, comfortable beds, lovely outdoor terrace to sit. The whole of the resort is beautiful. Very well kept. A couple of negative points.....the main pool was absolutely freezing! Really should be heated! It is a very hilly resort, so probably not ideal for anyone with mobility issues. The staff in the bar/restaurant area by the main pool were not particularly friendly. Everyone else we encountered,staff wise, were lovely.

After booking read reviews and realised these apartments were up more of a hill than thought. Emailed and asked for a room at the lower level as having a couple of lung issues hills are a problem. Got a room halfway up the hill apparently lowest available? Walking back from village definitely a challenge and impacted on enjoyment of holiday. No balcony room had terrace by entrance door and only small window inside so if door closed a bit dark and dingy not light and airy as appeared online. Staff at pool bar and reception very friendly. Would not return sadly too hilly and rooms not as bright and airy as pictures online,

Lovely resort/hotel just not a great room (102). We would visit again just would need a different room/style. Pros: Great staff, lovely pools and bars, good food, great ice cream at bottom pool bar, regular sheet and towel changes, room cleaned every day - lovely lady, comfy sun beds, short level walk to the villages, comfy big beds, lots of hot water, powerful shower Cons (for us): Room 102 studio with private pool - very dark room, small not enough drawer space. The shabby chic was more shabby - made it look/feel worn/grubby. Decor of bathroom - dark and dingy and felt half finished with just plastered walls (though we get this is the style). Smelly drain, no seal on shower door and lip of shower too low so bathroom floor got soaked. Couldn't use the private pool as was totally in the shade and cold - think because time of year - sun not high/strong enough- something visitors in October should consider before laying out extra money. We did enjoy the sun beds on our little bit of grass but these were only in sun until around 3.30.
