The lodge was in a lovely location, however the lodge itself was dangerous and dirty. The bed is excessively high, and the wood floor is slippery, this caused my partner to fall and break his leg on our first evening there, resulting in an ambulance to Newcastle RVI and an 11 day stay in hospital. I have fed this back to the Calvert trust, however i have yet to receive a reply !

We stayed in the Bradbury Lodge after staying in the McCardle a few years prior to this. Cannot fault the cleanliness or luxuriousness of the lodge itslef however the main issue is the hot tub. Both times we stayed here we went to use the hot tub in the first night and it was absolutely freezing. After ringing reception we were told due to them being emptied after each stay and refilled they may not be at the desired temperature on arrival. However it took until late morning if the next day for the hot tub to be hot enough to use. Considering you pay a premium for a lodge with a hot tub and we were unable to use it 1 out of the 3 nights we had booked I don't not find that acceptable. We have booked numerous lodges through Hoseasons over the past 12 years and never have we had an issue with the hot tub not being hot on any other site other than Calvert Trust. We also had an issue with the TV. Advertised as a Smart TV but infact it wasn't and when we rang reception for help about this we were told maintenance finish at 10:30 on a Saturday. The lady in reception tried her best to help but without success. Due to the issues we had we decided to leave a day early in the Sunday afternoon

A delightful visit to a tranquil location. Beautiful scenery, wildlife on your doorstep & exciting activities to enjoy. Staff welcoming & professional, and with special mentions for Danielle & Kieran for their advice, encouragement & friendliness during the much recommended activities on offer, including hair-raising zip-wires & majestic canoeing on Kielder water.

Peace, tranquility, isolation, in extreme comfort. Get away from it all. This is the place. Be aware you are a long drive from supermarkets and towns. Not suitable for children as very limited amenities to cater for them. Fair wifi, with limited mobile coverage. Loved it, will come again.

We were staying nearby at Kielder Waterside (about 1 mile away), and we visited Calvert Kielder to have an archery lesson as the archery range at Kielder was closed that week. We had a fantastic experience. Our instructor Vincent was really helpful and knowledgeable. It got quite addictive and we definitely plan on returning (after I've had some practice as my wife beat me hands down !).

Many of the bookings on line fail to mention, parking outside the lodge for at least two to three cars, disabled facilities including sink and hob adjustment for disabled in wheel chairs, disabled bathrooms, it is best to contact them direct and book to ensure if you have disabilities you get the right lodge for your needs tel: 01434 250232. One thing which is often overlooked on booking sites is the swimming pool a small pool allowing up to 10 guests to book, you book an hour slot for your family or group. The beds are comfortable the double we had was two singles slide together it did need a topper, we take our own. Also take your own frying pan, the ones in the lodes are well used and not a lot of non-stick left on them, this is due to only steel utensils available other than a wooden spoon. One person mentioned the toilet seat yes they are cheap however they still do the job. Like many self catering, B&Bs and hotels the curtains need to be blackout lined. Overall would we go again yes as we had a great time, will we go again yes. It was a quiet and restful break with our family.

The advantages were the food was delicious it felt like a five star kitchen the chefs were very friendly and would take any requests you wanted. They made me poached eggs on the last day, they had a bar and we got a kettle, tea tray and a TV in our room. The disadvantages were the friendliness of staff, it felt like they were overworked especially the care staff. For example on the last day my support worker looked up to talk and there Wa a carer and an instructor didn't even say hi, another disadvantage was that it wasn't really organised we didn't have a welcome meeting on the first day so instead of choosing our activities we had to go with what was on the timetable, the shower wasn't working it was freezing the first time we asked to get it sorted the woman just looked at my support worker as if we haven't switched it on properly. However we asked Margo she was lovely about it and she managed to get it sorted for us and the last disadvantage would be the bar and shop was so expensive for a can of Diet Coke it cost £1.30 and for a shandy it was £4.25

Beautiful place to stay! Just come back from 5 days with my partner and two children we stayed in the mcArdle lodge and the lodge was beautiful, really clean and some fantastic activities and walks on site! The kids loved the fact we would get baby rabbits on the patio at the back. If I was to be really picky the only thing I was slightly disappointed with was the tv signal we could only get like 2 channels, the main tv is a smart tv so you have access to Netflix but even that wouldn’t load most films I’m guessing because of the Wi-Fi strength. Aside from that a perfect stay with really friendly staff! Thank you all at Calvert kielder
