Outstanding
NNoskovConsider it a happy little accident. I had missed my flight home because of the Pearl Harbor Memorial Day Parade and was stuck an extra day on Oahu. I looked to see what was the cheapest hotel room available and the Ka La’i popped up which surprised me. Booked the room quick because the Honolulu Marathon was the following day and almost every hotel was sold out. I got an ocean view suite with a King bed as my room and loved it. Bathroom was amazing, bed was super comfortable and overall the suite was spacious. Although it had a kitchen it didn’t have a dedicated dining table, even a small one. Only thing in the sitting area was a glass coffee table that was long enough for my needs of just a late night pizza dinner. Staff was helpful and even as I was checking out, I casually asked if I could tour the Penthouse suite because I had always wanted to book it. The 2 front desk workers escorted me to the Penthouse and gave me a little tour. It was impressive. Definitely would stay there again soon.

GGuest UserVery pleased with our stay! Excellent location beachfront. Beautiful views of Diamond Head Crater. Super excellent location to be in the middle of all shops, beaches and restaurants . Short walks to explore & enjoy up and down the streets and beaches! All staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Clean and well maintained. Great assistance with booking activities. My daughter took a surf lesson. Beachside conveniently had plenty of water activities to enjoy with an area to rent paddle boards , surf boards, floats, chairs & umbrellas. The restaurants inside the resort were excellent and convenient with outdoor seating and ocean views! ABC general store on lower level to shop for anything needed from drinks, snacks, beach towels, souvenirs, sunscreen etc…The resort also offers free activities that are on a schedule week by week, such as yoga, hula lessons, Lei & bracelet making, vow renewals & ukulele lessons! My 15yo daughter took a ukulele lesson, then shopped around and bought one to bring home!!! We have absolutely no complaints about our stay! Will absolutely be coming back in the future. Our flight home was a late evening flight & our check out time was 11:00am, so the bell hop service held our luggage for us so we could enjoy the rest of our last day on the beach. Then we decided to top off our last day to pamper ourselves with a spa treat, which is located on the top floor of the resort. I got a massage. My daughter got a facial. Afterwards we got to go to the outside roof top and enjoy the awesome view feeling refreshed & relaxed. I can go on and on about the positives of this vacation stay. There were no negative issues!

GGuest UserA must-stay hotel in Honolulu, with its own beach, a pool with a slide, and fireworks every Friday. The room is big, and the bed is big too. Breakfast is too expensive, but there is a supermarket and McDonald's nearby. There is a Starbucks downstairs.

JJordan NicholasOur recent stay at Hilton Vacation Club The Modern Honolulu was a blend of highs and lows, with its strengths balanced by a few notable drawbacks. Situated in a reasonably good location and boasting cleanliness throughout, the hotel offered convenience and comfort in many aspects with a great pool and bar area including a separate adults pool. However, certain factors detracted from the overall experience, leaving us with mixed feelings about our time there. Let's start with the positives. The hotel's location, while not directly in the heart of the city hub, offered a decent compromise between convenience and tranquility. Close proximity to Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon provided easy access to beach activities and waterfront relaxation, adding a touch of serenity to our stay. Additionally, we found the hotel to be impeccably clean, with well-maintained facilities and a commitment to hygiene that was commendable. Despite these strengths, there were some notable downsides to our experience. The most significant inconvenience was the walking distance to the main city hub, which required a 15-20 minute walk to reach popular attractions, dining establishments, and shopping venues. While not a dealbreaker, this added a layer of logistical planning to our daily activities and limited spontaneity. Another issue that significantly impacted our stay was the persistent noise from the elevator. Unfortunately, our room was located close to the elevator, resulting in constant disturbances throughout the day and night. The loud mechanical noises disrupted our sleep and detracted from the overall ambiance of relaxation that we had hoped for. In summary, Hilton Vacation Club The Modern Honolulu offered a mix of positives and negatives during our stay. While the hotel's cleanliness and proximity to Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon were definite highlights, the walking distance from the city hub, the disruptive elevator noise, and having to pay for hotel parking detracted from the overall experience.

VVincentWe had such a great time couple days the winds were high, but we didn’t let that spoil our vacation. The sun was out that’s the most important thing in the temperature was in the 70s and 80s and so perfect for people from Seattle Washington rainbows you know it’s a tropical area so the rainbows appear in the sky just so beautiful fireworks on Friday night was outstanding. Looks like all of Waikiki came to look And we stayed in the Tapa building and ocean view just outstanding. The restaurants to Bali was fabulous. The restaurants are on the street level was fantastic and we walked around the city and experience various type of cuisine. This is an outstanding vacation seven days and my wife and I are so glad that we have mobility and at our age so we could really enjoy the beach. Enjoy the catamaran enjoy just walking around the city shopping and so just outstanding. We look forward to another vacation like that.

GGuest UserThe hotel is in the center of Waikiki. A lot of shops and restaurants are nearby.I The beaches are 100 meters away. The famous hotels Moana Surfrider and Hyatt Regency are across the street. Royal Waikiki Center is a beautiful mall nearby. There are a lot of luxury retail stores and restaurants in the mall.

FFlo RetaReview and rating solely based on our one night stay. High on convenience because our flight arrived late so rental cars were closed. It’s a few minutes (about 5) from airport where we needed to get our car next day. At the outset of entering there’s taped off area in lobby like work being done and a bit pungent smell that gives you an off the bat impression. Friendly receptionist. Room was not very likable as sheets felt and smelled too starchy it was uncomfortable to sleep in. Beds (two twins) felt old and somewhat lumpy. Shuttle does run on the hour til 12:30am and we were lucky to catch the last one and to get back to airport next morning. In conclusion, it met our convenience needs but way overpriced for the subpar room accommodation (174$ total).

EEdwinThe hotel is located near the airport which is excellent for transient passengers. However, if you plan to stay for visit you may want to consider staying near the tourist spot. We need to take an UBER to another hotel as this hotel is not jn the route of the tour bus where taking going to Pearl Harbor. The staff are friendly and accommodating especially Emil who’s one of the Filipino in the front desk. However, I cannot say the same to the other Filipino staff who’s name I will not say. He needs to polish on his hospitality skills and the way he speaks to the guest of the hotel. You also need to tell front desk everyday that you need them to make up your room as they will not do so since the Covid hits. There’s a free internet available specific to our room but this becomes unavailable after a couple of days stay and we need to connect to the WiFi of other rooms. There’s a Chinese restaurant nearby who serves excellent Chinese food.

GGuest UserThere is a main building and an annex, but the annex is really bad, and if you stay in the main building, the cost-effectiveness is really good! I stayed for 3 nights and stayed in the annex on the first day and was so depressed that I paid extra money to upgrade my room to the main building, and I was very satisfied! And it's very noisy because it's a downtown area, so take that into consideration! This is a picture of the bathroom when I stayed in the annex, but there was no ventilation and no lighting in the shower cubicle.. It was poor. Compare it with the pictures of the main building!
