This might have been a 4 star hotel a decade ago but not anymore.
We booked a club room for 2 nights. The hotels website says you had access to a club lounge, bathrobes, slippers and a larger room so we felt it was worth the extra money per night. Big mistake.no lounge, no robes, no slippers nothing extra and hasn't been since covid. When I asked teceptipn to explain the benefit they said it was 1sqm bigger.
Few hours after checking in our electrics tripped and the receptionist couldn't get it fixed so had to move us and put us in a deluxe room. When asked if they would be compensating us for the downgrade we were just told no. Told to speak to a manager but there wasn't one on duty (which i highly expect was a lie, what hotel of that size doesn't have a duty manager).
Our new smaller room left a lot to be desired. It was much smaller, no table and chairs to sit, big hole in the carpet which was very easy to trip over. Not all bad tho, the view from 6th floor at the back of the hotel is great as you can see the london skyline and the planes coming in to land at Heathrow. The shower was great and had really nice toiletries but the towels were the cheapest ive seen in a hotel (and I travel alot). WiFi is strong enough to stream on an amazon stick.
We had breakfast included. Wish we hadnt. The food wasn't good quality. Pork sausages must have been the cheapest lowest meat content they could find. Scrambled eggs were nice but when I asked for fried eggs was told they dont do them. If breakfast was £5 then it would have been ok but £12 is just a rip off. The coffee was shockingly bad too. Instant coffee, no option for cappuccino or anything like that. Also, itd the first time ive seen a hotel put GB News on at breakfast which is certainly a choice that I was surprised by.
The public areas of the hotel are dirty. Corridors dont look like they've been vacuumed in weeks. Stairs were dirty too.
Apart from one nice young lady on reception who retrieved my sunglasses I left in our first room, the rest of the staff could do with some customer service skills. Its very clear they dont rely on repeat business.
About 10 minutes walk to the tube for heathrow.
All in, there are much better hotels near the airport and this one would only be recommended if all the other were full. This hotel would have been really nice when it was built but clearly the current management don't want to spend any money keeping the standards.
