"It is really necessary to live in Shuiyunyao. You can avoid the crowds early in the morning and night. You can better enjoy the earth building. "Our little one wanted to see 'A Yuan's Home,' so we brought the picture book and came to stay. This guesthouse is located within the Tianluokeng Tulou Scenic Area in Nanjing. It's easy to find if you're driving, and personally, I found it even better than the Yunshuiyao Scenic Area – fewer crowds and stunning scenery. It's also very close to Taxia Village, which you can reach by cycling or walking. There, you can visit the 700-year-old Yuchang Lou, famously standing 'crooked but firm,' and grab a meal at the Xiaogqiao Liushui Restaurant. Just a heads-up if you're driving, be mindful of parking restrictions. Getting to Tianluokeng's iconic 'Four Dishes and One Soup' cluster is also super convenient, just a ten-minute drive. The Tulou are truly magnificent!
The guesthouse hostess is incredibly nice, and they have a lovely Golden Retriever named Xiao Chai, who is very friendly and well-behaved. We booked a duplex room with a living area downstairs and the sleeping area upstairs. It even came with a projector, which was a huge bonus! But the real highlight was the in-room washer-dryer combo – such a thoughtful and convenient amenity!"

"The B&B is right next to Heguilou, very close to the No. 6 bus station to and from Nanjing Shuiyunyao and the parking lot of the scenic spot. Boss Jian’s family is very accommodating and enthusiastic. They helped me with my luggage along the way, and reminded me in time of the camera at the counter. They even gave me the small scissors I wanted in the rain at night. The hotel is gone, but when I heard that my drone was blown up, I asked if I needed help to find it. This service awareness and attitude are awesome. The B&B is remodeled on the basis of a small earthen building, a bit like a small courtyard house. The interior decoration is very floral, elegant and casual, and a fruit tea tray and a box of exquisite tea are also provided, praise. In addition, the boss specially recommended me to take pictures in Huoshaolou, which is not far from Guilou, and the film was produced. I paid a 500 deposit for check-in, and the sky hot spring is charged separately. It seemed quite fun, but I didn't experience it because I checked in late. The buffet is also relatively rich. The only drawback was that the water stains on the shower head in the bathroom affected the appearance a bit, and the water in the shower at one o'clock at night was very hot. I adjusted it to cold water, but the cold water became smaller and smaller during the shower, and finally disappeared completely, so the water was too hot to continue washing. It was quite late so I didn't go to the waiter~ It was normal the next day. Overall, the price/performance ratio is okay."

Friends who like quietness and leisure should not miss Taxia Village. The temperature is suitable, cool, very original and not very commercialized. The Firefly we stayed at this time is a store run by the couple with great care. We also let the boss arrange the food at Firefly. We told the boss how many people can eat and what the budget is, so we can go out and play with peace of mind. The meal in the picture only costs 200 yuan, tastes great and is very filling! ! What I like most is that there is a large platform to dry clothes, and you can lie on a chair and watch the stars in the sky at night! You can also see a lot of fireflies in June and July! The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Yunshuiyao, making it very convenient for sightseeing and getting around. It's a converted circular *tulou*, and having a private bathroom is quite a rare find for this type of accommodation, offering a truly unique stay. However, if you have high standards or specific requirements for your accommodation, you might want to consider carefully before booking.

VVythicaWe stayed in Floral Luxury.1949 Guesthouse for 1 night. We booked Mufan room located on the ground floor as i am travelling with my elderly mom and carrying heavy luggage bags.
The guesthouse butler will contact you the night before your arrival to add them to Wechat for easy communication. They will share their hotel location and offer pick-up service at the train station if required.
Access to Yunshuiyao town is RMB90 perpax and free for those aged above 65 years old. Yunshuiyao is a scenic town area with 3 km long (2 - 3 hours walk). We hired a chinese speaking guide to accompany us to explain the history of Huaiyan building (square tulou), Hegui building (round tulou), and the town area. It cost RMB100.
The guesthouse is located inside Yunshuiyao town, behind the shop houses, in-between waterwheel and 2 trees (named as husband and wife) aged above 670 years old.
When we reached there at 2.30 pm, it was raining. The hotel staff immediately came out with an umbrella to pick us up and assist with the luggage.
The check-in is fast, and the access to the room is by password, which they will share in Wechat. Checkout is also very easy.
The hotel offered free fruits twice a day, afternoon and evening.
The basic bathroom essentials are complete, and they also provide bathrobes. The bed and pillows are very comfortable for a good night sleep. Luckily the aircond can change to warm mode as it was very cold on raining day.
There's a mini kids playground for children's. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast set come with porridge and soya drink. Can topup if needed more. The in-house restaurant provides lunch & dinner with a la carte chinese foods menu.
The sky brightens at 5 am, while the sun rises high at 6.45am. If you are able to wake up early, this is the best time for you to revisit the town and tulou surrounding area for nice photos and cool breeze as only local people around. There's a roadside stall selling super long youtiao (equal to size of 2 youtiao) located near the stone bridge not far from guesthouse.
The whole Yunshuiyao town is covered with natural peebles pathway. Wear suitable shoes as it will be very slippery during the rainy day.

GGuest UserWhat an amazing experience to live in the “chopsticks” buildings of the four dishes and one soup! This was a small and beautiful village and the family who ran the inn helped us carry our luggage up to the inn and later down to the inn. When we arrived they cooked a dinner which was reasonable in price based on a local menu. And then during dinner, they told us that one of the family members will be running a free tour of the Tulous of four dishes one soup for us in which they explained the history of the building of the tulous, especially the oval shaped tulou. Our guide was very funny with his stories (he spoke in Chinese) and it was a lovely time seeing the artists and candy makers in the Tulous. I would highly recommend this place. We did have to bring our own towels (or at least we brought our own and they didn’t supply one), so maybe best to check.

GGuest UserThe B&B is run by a young couple. The overall building resembles an earth building in appearance, and the interior has a standard hotel-like layout. The decoration is in a nostalgic campus style, but the hardware facilities are not outdated. You can see the subtle care that the owner put into the room design. There will be several modes of room lighting to suit various needs. The wet and dry partitions in the bathroom are relatively reasonable, and the sewers are smooth and do not accumulate water. The water heater has a large capacity, so you can take a comfortable bath without any problem. It has its own parking lot and is very convenient for self-driving. The location of the B&B is very close to the viewing platform of Four Dishes and One Soup, which has the advantage of seeing the lights and entering the village at night. The landlady usually drinks tea in the front hall. When you pass by and she is free, she will invite you to drink tea and chat with her. The boss will tell you about travel strategies when he has free time, and even take you for a walk in person.

GGuest UserOn our way from Shenzhen to Xiamen, we passed by the Tulou and, as night fell, made a spur-of-the-moment decision to stay overnight. Tianluokeng is a quintessential Tulou attraction, and we chose No. 1 Homestay in the core area, which certainly didn't disappoint.
We contacted A-Wei, the owner, in advance, who provided us with directions. At the time, it was pouring rain, and the winding mountain roads were shrouded in mist, offering a uniquely atmospheric drive.
The owner personally met us at the parking lot and helped us with our luggage. A short 100-meter walk through the narrow paths between the Tulou buildings led us to the guesthouse. Even though it was already past 9 PM, the owner cooked us a lavish dinner. We were truly touched by his dedication and promptness; the meal was incredibly delicious. Feeling completely satisfied, we enjoyed tea and some local Tulou tobacco, feeling as if time had stood still. We originally wanted to stay another day, but due to time constraints, we had to leave after breakfast the next morning.
The guesthouse rooms were unique and very spacious – truly rare for such a central location. Its location is exceptional, being the closest to the main viewing platform. Right next door is Hecheng Tower, one of the structures comprising the famous 'Four Dishes and One Soup' cluster, which you can enter and explore anytime.
As we were leaving, after driving a few kilometers away, my wife suddenly realized she had left her handbag in the room. The owner personally drove it to the parking lot for us. We are incredibly grateful!

Great place, better stay at least a couple of nights to fully enjoy the tulou life.
Mr Huang and wife were amazing, some of the most hospitable people I’ve ever met. They cooked food for us and gave the best advices about exploring the surroundings.
If you have time, at sunset, walk up to the bus stop and find the little gap in the guardrail, it will bring you straight to the rice terraces. Can see the Tulou Complex from a different point of view!
