"The Dunhuang Hotel lives up to its reputation! It's located right next to the Shazhou Night Market and offers a wealth of dining options. The hotel's facilities are first-class, elegant, and beautifully appointed. I originally booked a king-size bed room without a window, but the hotel proactively upgraded me to one with a window, which was very thoughtful. The room was comfortable and cozy, and the front desk and housekeeping were attentive and helpful. I stayed four nights, and while the room was quite expensive, it was a great value! The only downside was the breakfast. While the breakfast setting was pleasant, the service was friendly, and the food looked plentiful, it was almost identical every day and not particularly tasty. The hot dishes tasted like leftovers. The cantaloupe wasn't sweet at all, and there were several canned fruits on display. It's harvest season, so why not have more fresh fruit?"

"The hotel is well located in city center and provides complimentary pick up/drop off service from train station. There is a direct bus which goes to mogao caves right in front the hotel- making self transport a breeze. Room is spacious and nicely designed with a large bath tub. Apart from the hotel hardware, what really stood out was the extra mile services offered by the staff. There are 2 staff who really shine. Firstly, Ms tong tong （彤彤）was very patient in explaining all the touristy sites around and how to get there. She helped us book performance tickets so we could enjoy some discounts. When we enquired about transfer to liu yuan, she not only checked for all the information online for us but also personally went to the bus station to find a driver who goes to liuyuan. We're so impressed with her extra mile service!! Really kudos to her great personality and service. Next staff to mention is Mr li (李师傅）who picked us up at the train station. He suggested some dining places to us and offered to drop us off at mogao caves when we bumped into him at the hotel lobby. Overall, highly recommend to stay at this hotel."

"Checked in on New Year's Eve. Two wind towels were given as a gift when I checked in. I took a photo of it specially because it was my favorite color, hehe. Cleanliness: The room was surprisingly clean. No weird smell. Facilities: Free toiletries are provided. The bathroom is spacious. The eco-friendly slippers are comfortable, but you can’t take them away. Environment: Entering the hall, it is cozy, warm and the heating is very good. Service: The beauties in the lobby are enthusiastic and warm. To emphasize, heating is very good in winter. The bedding was clean and tidy. We stayed for two days and went out to the scenic spot on the second day. They cleaned and tidied the room without any request. It is convenient to eat. There is an authentic beef noodle restaurant opposite the hotel, a convenience store next door, and a large supermarket around the corner, which is open on New Year's Eve. A perfect trip to Dunhuang! Dunhuang of the world, where my heart longs for!"

"Hotel is very nice. The location is close to the Shanzhou Night Market and it takes roughly 5-10 Minutes by walking there. In one of the side alleys are hidden gems, namely restaurants that do not appear on Google Maps or Apple Maps. I recommend to explore the surrounding area. Also the hotel is very clean in general, however my room has stains of previous travelers in the rug. I recommend to thoroughly clean it professionally. The staff were excellent and super friendly. Check In was very easy as foreigner and the overall service was very good."

"The overall experience here was even better than some five-star hotels. First, the 1.3-meter-wide twin beds and complimentary breakfast for children under 1.4 meters are incredibly family-friendly. It ensures everyone eats well and sleeps comfortably, with plenty of room even when co-sleeping with a child. Second, the entire room boasts smart home features, including automated curtains and toilets. What's also impressive is the bathroom design: it not only has wet and dry areas but also separate cubicles for the toilet and shower, allowing simultaneous use without any disturbance. Third, the toiletries are excellent. The selection of shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion is of very high quality. Given the dry climate of Dunhuang, the daily provision of body lotion is an especially thoughtful touch. Fourth, the service is outstanding. They proactively contact guests a day in advance to confirm airport or train station pick-up arrangements, and any requests are promptly and efficiently addressed. Moreover, the front desk staff always greeted us warmly whenever we left or returned, which was a very nice personal touch."

The night market is a few minutes' walk away and there are a handful of Western cafés nearby.The hotel's four buildings have played host to a number of domestic and international notables visiting the area and the good value rooms are clean, comfortable and offer high speed Internet access.

"It was a completely unexpected state guesthouse-level experience. Since its construction in 1979, the hotel has received many dignitaries and VIPs as a state guesthouse. The murals in the lobby of the north building and the flying fairy in the lobby of the south building are definitely national treasures, and can be called the first cave of Mogao Grottoes. Although the rooms of the old four-star hotel are small and the equipment and facilities are a bit old, the hygiene is very good and the service is very considerate. The breakfast alone is 40 per person, which is a little expensive, but the quality is beyond reproach, especially the fried dough sticks, which are absolutely state banquet-level, and the beef noodles are the standard answer to Lanzhou beef noodles. In the off-season, you can enjoy the state guesthouse at a relatively low price, which is great value!"

"When traveling on business, I am most afraid of encountering a hotel with poor soundproofing, but this hotel is simply the ”caring representative of the hotel industry”! When I arrived in the early morning, the guy at the front desk took the initiative to help move the suitcases. When checking in, he gently reminded me that ”there is an ice machine at the end of the corridor, and you can add ice if you stay up late to work.” In the room, there was an eye-protection desk lamp and free mineral water next to the table. The sockets were marked with ”mobile phone fast charging” and ”computer interface”. The detail control was directly grasped! There is a constant temperature shower in the shower room, so you don’t have to worry about the water temperature being hot and cold when taking a shower. The water volume is really large. , Dunhuang feels like a relatively desolate city. I didn’t expect the hotel facilities to be so amazing. They also gave us water before leaving. This feeling of being cared about is so warm. I have already recommended it to other friends who plan to come to Dunhuang."

TTravellerBobStayed for two nights. The value for money was good. The hotel itself is not very clean and a little outdated, but the linen was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The window of the room did not close properly, and the nights were very cold, with 16°C inside the room. Because the windows did not close, a lot of outside noise was heard at all hours (there was an outdoor street piano that people played at all hours of the night). The room was also very small, with no space for placing luggage or anything. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
