Otsu Hotels with Wi-Fi

"I used a pre-purchased room voucher, and it was such an amazing deal! The hotel is right near Otsu Station and is absolutely beautiful. The room was huge, with a direct view of Lake Biwa. Unfortunately, I only stayed one night this time and didn't get to fully enjoy the hotel's facilities. Plus, the staff were incredibly service-oriented. We mistakenly thought the drop-off point for the shuttle at Otsu Station was the pick-up point, and the driver kindly took our luggage and explained that the pick-up was across the street, without being rigid about making us go there. When we arrived at the hotel, the concierge immediately took our luggage, and by the time we checked in, our bags were already in the room. My daughter went to buy something from a vending machine and met a staff member who bowed 90 degrees to her; she came back telling me how polite they were... Even though it was only one night, it was the most beautiful memory of my Kansai trip."

"The cheap price has its reasons, it is equivalent to the domestic Super 8. It is quite convenient to shop and take a bus around. One step to the countryside, one step to the bustling city, one step to the mountain, and one step to the boat. If a person is tired of the hustle and bustle of the city and wants to hide occasionally, this is still a good choice. After all, it is absolutely affordable to live here in seclusion for a month or two in Japan."

"Location: Right on Lake Biwa, almost all rooms offer lake views, providing a first-class scenic experience. It's lovely to walk around the vicinity, and there's a unique cafe and small shops nearby. Service: The shuttle bus to the station runs every 30 minutes, which is very convenient. The front desk service was a bit average, lacking smiles. Facilities: The Prince Hotel chain is generally reliable. The triple room was very comfortable. The buffet restaurant on the top floor has fantastic views. While the snow crab at the buffet was of average quality, the other dishes were good, making it convenient not to have to go out."

"The room was very comfortable and large, and we were able to open our two 28-inch suitcases. It was great that we chose to live in Ishiyama this time. In the morning, we walked along the Seta River to Ishiyama Temple. The scenery was beautiful. The small town in Japan was very quiet and comfortable."

"The location is convenient, very close to the subway station, and the room is of normal size. It is easy to find on the roadside, but there are trams on the road, so people with poor sleep may need to pay attention. I didn't feel anything when I slept alone"

"It was a great stay at this ryokan! The hotel is able to arrange a car to fetch you from the JR station. You can call them using a dedicated phone at the station which is used to contact the different ryokans. The car arrived in 10mins or so. The ride to the ryokan was also less than 10mins. The hotel also fetched us to the station on the last day of our stay. The ryokan itself is homely and cozy. We were greeted by an english speaking staff who introduced us to the amenities of the ryokan. There was also a nice welcome tea and matcha chocolate. Our bags were brought to our room as well during this time. The room is spacious and cozy. The hotel prepared 2 welcome biscuits in the room which was a nice personal touch. The room has a nice living room and a great view of Lake Biwa. Recommend to catch the sunrise over the lake! There are 2 normal beds as well as futon beds (need to set up yourself). Both are comfortable. The hotel also prepared pretty yukata for both female and male guests which you can wear during the stay. There are 4 different designs for ladies, and one design for the guys. You can request for different size if the one in the room doesn’t fit you. There is also a full length mirror and a mini dressing area at the side of the living room. It was fun dressing up in the yukata! The toilet, basin, shower and hot tub areas are all separate. The toilet is a little small, but the basin and mirror area is very spacious. The shower area is quite small as well and the shower head is rather low so you need to hold the shower head if you wish to wash up while standing. There is a small stool given for you to sit down though. The hot tub area is semi-outdoor and you can see Lake Biwa. But it is quite small (only good for one person). It was too cold so we didn’t use the hot tub. Instead, we booked the private onsen for 50mins. The private onsen has a private toilet and dressing area which is equipped with hairdryer, body lotion etc. There is a water dispenser as well if you need to hydrate yourself. The onsen area has a washing area, and the hot tub area is spacious for 2 person. There are privacy screens around the onsen area but there is a small gap to let in cold air for ventilation. Wish there is a good view from the private onsen but it was still enjoyable! Dinner and breakfast was Kaiseki style, and the meals were one of the highlights for my husband and I. We really enjoyed the courses which are clean tasting yet wholesome, fresh and flavourful. It was such a sumptuous treat! The ryokan also has a souvenir shop if you wish to buy anything back. Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed the stay here and we agreed this was one of the main highlights of our 12 days trip in Japan. Highly recommend!"

"We were traveling independently, and the single room was much bigger than the one we had in a tour group before, and the environment was also very good. The highlights of this hotel: it is close to Otsu Tram Station, and there are only two stops to Kyoto by taking the new rapid line: Yamashina Station and Kyoto Station. It is more convenient to travel north to Lake Biwa. It takes less than half an hour to walk to Otsu Cruise Port, and a taxi costs about 1,000 yen. Go to Japan's national treasure town: Hikone; take the Hiei Mountain Line Cable Car (Sakamoto Station) to overlook Lake Biwa; soak in the 1,200-year-old hot springs, etc., and use the tram to transfer conveniently. If you want to see one of the three most scenic views in Japan: Amanohashidate, you can also take the JR New Rapid Line at Otsu Station and transfer to Amanohashidate Tram Station. Although this hotel is close to the tram station, it has good sound insulation and there are few trams after 10 p.m., which hardly affects sleep. We stayed here for 5 nights, visited Gion in Kyoto for one day, Lake Biwa for two days, and Mount Hiei and hot springs for one day, but it still felt like not enough time."

"Location of the hotel is very convenient. It is 5-10 min walk from JR Otsu station which is only 2 stop away from JR Kyoto which costs about 200 yen. The room is clean and quiet but it is a bit tight for 2 mid size luggages (to open simultaneously) but still manageable. Hotel comes with full Japanese breakfast and has coin operated laundry (200yen) and dryer (free). We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone who don't mind staying out of Kyoto."

"Excellent location, right at the station. Check in 16h00. No wifi offered. Hotel access via public restaurant - feels weird to walk between diners to go out / return. Lockers far too narrow even for airline carry-on. Bathroom is clean, shower has small dry area, and water pressure varies. Capsules are spacious with power socket, lights, shelf, etc. The mattress is a few cm thick piece of soft foam and is so worn that it feels like a slab of concrete wrapped in a sheet. Very uncomfortable! And I am 77kg, not overweight. The pillow is a bag filled with what feels like gravel stones. Breakfast comprises one hot / cold drink, a small pile of lettuce leaves with dressing, a thick slab of white bread that is scored about half way deep into a small chessboard and very lightly toasted, and a thimble-size serving of sweet fruit yoghurt. They do offer to hold luggage until 16h00 after check-out, and collecting it is easy and fast."

"It was great that there were two large public baths for men and two for women, and they were open 24 hours. Thanks to this, the baths weren't crowded at all, even for such a large ryokan. Dinner was served in a grand banquet hall at a designated time, and it was so lavish that the dishes barely fit on the table – everything was delicious! The facilities are quite old, so I did notice noises like the motor and the bathroom fan, but all the staff were very kind, and I had a pleasant stay overall."
