"This hotel is very neat and clean. The room is spacious with a beautiful view of Lake Biwa, and a walk along the lake is very relaxing. It's definitely worth staying here. I especially love the fragrant POLA toiletries they provide, and the bath salts are also lovely for a very comfortable bath in the evening. 👍 There's a free shuttle service from the north exit of Otsu Station, just across the street, that takes about 10 minutes to reach the hotel. There's a convenience store within a 5-minute walk, and a large mall about a 15-minute walk away. Near Otsu Station, there's a food market with great food at reasonable prices. I'd love to come back again if I have the chance."

"The cheap price has its reasons, it is equivalent to the domestic Super 8. It is quite convenient to shop and take a bus around. One step to the countryside, one step to the bustling city, one step to the mountain, and one step to the boat. "We were traveling independently, and the single room was much bigger than the one we had in a tour group before, and the environment was also very good. The highlights of this hotel: it is close to Otsu Tram Station, and there are only two stops to Kyoto by taking the new rapid line: Yamashina Station and Kyoto Station. It is more convenient to travel north to Lake Biwa. It takes less than half an hour to walk to Otsu Cruise Port, and a taxi costs about 1,000 yen. Go to Japan's national treasure town: Hikone; take the Hiei Mountain Line Cable Car (Sakamoto Station) to overlook Lake Biwa; soak in the 1,200-year-old hot springs, etc., and use the tram to transfer conveniently. If you want to see one of the three most scenic views in Japan: Amanohashidate, you can also take the JR New Rapid Line at Otsu Station and transfer to Amanohashidate Tram Station. Although this hotel is close to the tram station, it has good sound insulation and there are few trams after 10 p.m., which hardly affects sleep. "The location is excellent, 2 minutes walk from the Shishan J R Station bus station. It is also very convenient to eat around and there are many varieties to choose from. Although the hotel room is a bit small and the facilities are a bit old, the service attitude is good and clean. There is free tea and coffee in the lobby, and cleaning supplies need to be picked up. It's close to the government district, and you can walk to Hamaotsu as well.
It's also about a 10-minute train ride to Kyoto. It's an excellent location for both business and sightseeing.
"The single room is relatively large. What I like most is the window. The sun shines in every morning and it feels very warm. The bathroom is a bit small, and the space saved is used in the room, so the room does not feel depressing. The location is a few hundred meters away from Otsu JR Station, and it takes 5 minutes to walk there. The hotel logo on the roof is very eye-catching and easy to find. The hotel has a free buffet breakfast, which is quite rich. After staying for three days, there are still some different things. The local specialty Omi beef is also provided, which is delicious. This small town has a small population and is very quiet. The attractions are not inferior to Kyoto. It is worth visiting. It's a pity that the cherry blossoms are not in bloom, otherwise it would be more beautiful. The hotel also provides facial masks, which are also very good."

AAnonymous UserIt was a great stay at this ryokan! The hotel is able to arrange a car to fetch you from the JR station. You can call them using a dedicated phone at the station which is used to contact the different ryokans. The car arrived in 10mins or so. The ride to the ryokan was also less than 10mins. The hotel also fetched us to the station on the last day of our stay.
The ryokan itself is homely and cozy. We were greeted by an english speaking staff who introduced us to the amenities of the ryokan. There was also a nice welcome tea and matcha chocolate. Our bags were brought to our room as well during this time.
The room is spacious and cozy. The hotel prepared 2 welcome biscuits in the room which was a nice personal touch. The room has a nice living room and a great view of Lake Biwa. Recommend to catch the sunrise over the lake! There are 2 normal beds as well as futon beds (need to set up yourself). Both are comfortable. The hotel also prepared pretty yukata for both female and male guests which you can wear during the stay. There are 4 different designs for ladies, and one design for the guys. You can request for different size if the one in the room doesn’t fit you. There is also a full length mirror and a mini dressing area at the side of the living room. It was fun dressing up in the yukata!
The toilet, basin, shower and hot tub areas are all separate. The toilet is a little small, but the basin and mirror area is very spacious. The shower area is quite small as well and the shower head is rather low so you need to hold the shower head if you wish to wash up while standing. There is a small stool given for you to sit down though. The hot tub area is semi-outdoor and you can see Lake Biwa. But it is quite small (only good for one person). It was too cold so we didn’t use the hot tub.
Instead, we booked the private onsen for 50mins. The private onsen has a private toilet and dressing area which is equipped with hairdryer, body lotion etc. There is a water dispenser as well if you need to hydrate yourself. The onsen area has a washing area, and the hot tub area is spacious for 2 person. There are privacy screens around the onsen area but there is a small gap to let in cold air for ventilation. Wish there is a good view from the private onsen but it was still enjoyable!
Dinner and breakfast was Kaiseki style, and the meals were one of the highlights for my husband and I. We really enjoyed the courses which are clean tasting yet wholesome, fresh and flavourful. It was such a sumptuous treat!
The ryokan also has a souvenir shop if you wish to buy anything back.
Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed the stay here and we agreed this was one of the main highlights of our 12 days trip in Japan. Highly recommend!

But then they started the morning with a team of workers going through the temple grounds with deafening leaf blowing machines! Why do they disturb the peace like this? The temple claims to be environmentally conscious, but these machines are noisy, irritating, wasteful and bad for the environment. It made me leave the place in a bed mood.

MM235976****Facilities: The room size is quite spacious, with a separate bedroom and dining area. There are also two restrooms, and outside is a private hot spring tub. Overall, the facilities are well-maintained.
Cleanliness: Acceptable.
Environment: Very good. You can see Lake Biwa right from the room. And you absolutely must try the large communal hot spring bath. Especially in winter or on a rainy day, when it's raining or snowing outside and you're soaking in the super warm hot spring – it's incredibly comfortable, truly indescribable.
Service: After exiting the JR station, if you call the hotel, a car will come to pick you up. However, that phone is really well-hidden; it took us a while to find it. The drive to the hotel takes about 10 minutes. The staff's service attitude is very good. They also escort you to your room and thoroughly explain each feature and how to use it. Check-out is at 10 AM, but most hot spring ryokans in Japan have this check-out time.
Dining: We booked the two-meal plan, breakfast and dinner. The variety was quite rich, and the taste was decent, within expectations. Overall, the dining service was pretty good. Room service is also available; the latest you can order late-night snacks is 9:30 PM. Room service food is absolutely delicious! And it's not expensive at all, the prices are the same as outside.
Overall, our stay at this hot spring ryokan was very comfortable. For those who can, I recommend staying two nights. On the second day, you can explore Biwako Valley, which is quite close to the hotel. It definitely won't disappoint (provided the weather is good; if the weather's bad, don't go).

和和牛控The hotel services and facilities (if you want to use the soup in Yu Yuan Pavilion, you need to add 700 yen) are great; as soon as you park the car, the service staff will come to guide you to check in. After changing your indoor shoes, you will go to the lounge and watch the whole hotel ”Introduction video” is clear at a glance.
It is an old but renovated hot spring resort. There is no elevator, but you can go up to the third floor. The CP value is very high!
The breakfast is very rich and carefully prepared, and you can enjoy authentic and creative kaiseki cuisine.
The only regret is that the meat in the shabu-shabu dinner is not Omi beef! But all the ingredients, colors, flavors and flavors are all present and every dish is worth savoring!
*The nearby Lake Biwa is a must-see attraction. Depending on your time, you can search for interesting attractions on your own.

KKyoto GodIt was very clean and well-cleaned. The living environment around the station is convenient, with a medium-sized supermarket, two Seven-Elevens, and a Starbucks right next door. You can do your laundry, and toothbrushes and towels are also provided.
Kyoto is a 10-minute subway ride away. It felt more convenient than many accommodations in Kyoto city. Otsu is full of nature and has a calm atmosphere.
I recommend it so much that I don't want to let too many people know about it (lol). The staff were all very kind, and it was fun to have the restaurant help me check in. I'm very grateful!
Very clean and well-maintained. The area around the station is super convenient—there’s a mid-sized supermarket and two 7-Elevens right next door, plus a Starbucks. Laundry is available, and they provide toothbrushes and plenty of towels.
It only takes 10 minutes by subway to reach Kyoto, and honestly, it felt even more convenient than many places inside Kyoto. Otsu has a peaceful, nature-filled atmosphere that’s quite refreshing.
