It’s within the Old Town itself so lugging the luggage was a little difficult. But the room made up for that. It has really quaint-looking and authentic old town kind of furnishing. Breakfast was really simple given that it’s winter and there’s not many customers.

The room is nice, with good soundproofing and a good location, but there is no trash can in the room, only a mini bucket in the bathroom, and I used a large plastic bag to put the trash. . The service is too bad: the attitude of each service staff is like you owe them money, very unnice, especially during breakfast, it’s ok to have few things, but they also want to make a hundred kinds of dishes with 2 eggs, which is very "**". It should have been a buffet breakfast, but it was made like a French meal, and the key is that it is not filling.

Went to the restaurant here for a late dinner in November during the week. We walked in off the street and had very attentive service, and had lovely food (including pasta and bread) which was very good value. The decor was cosy. Would absolutely return!

Called one evening in October at the outdoor restaurant of the Monte Cristo. Having been in Montenegro for a week, this was the best food we had eaten during our stay Served by the delightful Jelena (I hope I have spelt her name correctly,) my wife and I had soup, pasta and desert together with beers and wine, all accompanied by the enjoyable jazz music from the next door bar. A wonderful evening, thank you so much to all the staff of the Monte Cristo Steve and Jayne

Hotel Monte Cristo is a boutique hotel situated in the historic Kotor Old Town. Hotel is about 5 minutes’ walk from the main entrance and it's almost the same distance towards the North Gate. Cars are not permitted inside the old town, hence, just like any other hotels inside the walls, you will have to walk with your bags towards the hotel. The original architecture seems to have been carefully preserved or restored, but it also has all the modern amenities. You have to climb up the steps to get to the hotel lobby situated on the first floor. Our room was on the second floor, hence, we had to climb again with all our bags, which was not a pleasant experience. There was no hotel staff to help us with the bags. The room, like the hotel, is styled in a vintage/old-fashioned manner with antique wooden furniture and cupboards. All rooms offer air conditioning, TV, free Wi-Fi, a minibar, electric kettle, telephone, locker, bathrobes, and slippers. The bed was saggy and not at all comfortable. It’s high time they change the mattresses. Bathroom has free toiletries and hair dryer. However, it was too small. There is no proper exhaust for the toilet. If you open the windows, then the opposite building is so near and there is no privacy. Breakfast is served in the restaurant located on the ground floor with its entrance from the street. Breakfast was included in the price of the room. Had a good buffet choice with a nice spread of meats, cheeses, breads, olives, cucumber, capsicum, cereals, pancakes, pastries, croissants, yogurts and loads of fresh fruit. Omelets were made to order and coffee or tea was served on the table as per our requirements. The staff were very professional and courteous in their approach, particularly the restaurant staff who very happily and patiently attended to us. Though I read several posts that it’s very noisy at night, we didn’t have any such issues. Maybe since we were visiting in low season, tourists were less and some of the restaurants were closed. Hence, the room rent was also on the lower side. There are plenty of restaurants and bars inside the old town. The tourism office is situated just outside the main entrance walls. Overall, the property is good, but, if you have luggage, ask for rooms in the ground floor room right next to reception.

The hotel is in the historic center of this old town. No cars can enter, so you have to walk from the free parking spot outside the town wall. The cart that brings your luggage to the car was not available upon our arrival in the afternoon, so we (72 years old and slightly walking-impaired) had no choice but to "help" ourselves. At check-out the cart brought our out. The hotel is an historic town house without elevator but very steep stairs. Guess where they put us up? Two floors up. The staff had to carry our luggage up and down, which worked well. The rooms are nice except for the lighting. A lamp was flickering so we had to remove the bulb. Bath was extremely tiny, with the appliances looking like from 60 years ago. We had to head it with the hairdryer, there was no other heating. The staff was friendly, though, and very helpful. The service at the restaurant was swift and courteous. With the food being less than four-star we decided to eat elsewhere the nights following our first one. Breakfast was ok but no big thing. Cooked egg dishes were made to order and very tasty, on the other hand. The worst of our complaint has been documented in reviews here for nine years now - the unbearable Boom-Boom noise from a next-door Techno bar that stopped after midnight. Only then it was possible to sleep in the pretty comfy beds. The management does not seem to want to correct this situation. We can recommend the hotel to young people who can climb steep stairs and do not mind sleepless nights.
