Kindai Pension

Location: Kuojin Hot Spring is very small, the homestay is very close to Tangyu, but if you pull your luggage from the bus stop to the homestay, it will be very inconvenient, and it has always been uphill. You can pick up and drop off at TripAdvisor or Customer Service Union B&B; If you want to go to the station before 10 o'clock, you can take the bus at the entrance of the homestay. See the map for the timetable. Environment: The environment is really great. I went to the end of January. The room I lived in opened the window to see the snow scene. There is also a leisure area where you can read and chat. The restaurant environment is also very good. There are also 24-hour hot springs, 5 different scenery, you can lock the door and soak yourself, great! Service: Packed dinner and breakfast, the first day of dinner did not eat very annoying, there is a cow 😭 the next day breakfast is very rich, completely can not finish, delicious ~! The boss can speak a little English, although the language is not very good, but very nice, just met the Taiwanese lady who is traveling and working, solved the communication problem
Kusatsu Kogen Youth Hostel

5/2 I stayed in room 201, which was about 10 tatami mats and had 4 bunk beds. It was 4,200 yen per person + 200 yen for heating + 200 yen for sheets = 4,600 yen. Due to the influence of the coronavirus, there was no bath but only a shower. (It's a hot spring, so if you can't take a bath, you should let them know in advance.) The heating in the lobby was turned off even though I had set aside the heating fee, and when I went into the room and turned on the heating, it wouldn't turn on, probably because it was broken. The cafeteria was occupied by students in the group and I was unable to use it. Therefore, even though I came to the hot springs, I couldn't use the hot springs, and I kept saving money for heating, and even though it was snowing outside, there was no heating, and I couldn't eat freely. It was a crappy hotel that was a rip-off.
Matsumuraya Ryokan

Very close to Kusatsu Onsen, just around the corner, good location. Parking spaces are a bit limited, so driving by yourself depends a bit on luck. The room is very good, the boss is very nice, the food is delicious and exquisite.
Nakamuraya Ryokan

This was my first and only stay at a ryokan so I don’t have much to compare it to. I chose this lodging because of the cats and good reviews on the food. The cats were really sweet and I enjoyed playing with them. I have 2 cats of my own so it was really nice. The food was so beautiful and delicious - the mushroom soup at dinner was amazing. I really enjoyed it. The private bath rooms were very convenient and open 24 hrs. I thought the facilities were clean and very pleasant. The location was very close to the central area and a quick walk to all the important sites including the bus station. The only comment I have was in the morning someone was smoking and the smell got ****** into the 2nd floor hallway so maybe more care should be taken to be sure the smoke stays outside. The host was so nice and sweet and I used google translate to ask questions. The matcha madeleines are so tasty I bought a box to take with me.

The location is convenient, close to Yubatake and a convenience store nearby. The inn is old, but the rooms were clean. There was also a kotatsu. Even though it was 20 degrees in Tokyo, it was snowing and cold, so that was a relief. It's less than 8,000 yen including two meals, so I think it's a reasonable price in Kusatsu. The food tasted like home-cooked food, but it was delicious and the dinner was quite voluminous. A private room was prepared separately from the guest room, and we were called when preparations were complete, and no one from the hostel entered the room during the meal. There was a private bath with the Watanoyu source on the first floor, and a private bath for men and women with the Yubatake source in the basement. It was my first time to enter the Wata no Yu hot spring source, but the water was soft and I took my time. Nikawa-no-Yu, Otaki-no-Yu, Jizo-Yu, and Shirahata-no-Yu are all within walking distance, so you can visit them. I went to Kusatsu for the first time in about 3 years, and new accommodations had been built.
