Centrally located in downtown Lerwick. Comfortable beds, quiet room, decent breakfast (eggs cooked your way). Good communication from the hosts. Only negative? The caulking in the shower needs to be redone. Also not a lot of parking at the hotel. Other than that, good.

I stayed here for a week in November 2024 If you are coming to work in or visit Shetland then I advise you to look no further than this marvellous establishment. I challenge you to find another guest house that is as well run and impeccably furnished and welcoming as the Alder Lodge in Lerwick. Vanessa who looks after all the guests will do anything to make your stay as welcoming and as nourishing as possible with her delicious food freshly prepared with locally sourced ingredients that are quite possibly the tastiest in town and beyond. The rooms are beautifully decorated and modern with a wee fridge for convenience. Thermostat controlled central heating in each room makes this a home from home that is only a short walk to bars and restaurants. Vanessa takes customer satisfaction to another level and cannot do enough for her guests. AMAZING ☺️

Absolutely the best wee b and b super friendly lovely staff couldn't have made our visit to shetland any better breakfast to die for Vanessa definitely an asset to this place ask anything she will help if she can or point you in the right direction

I stayed one night here and took a single room with external private bathroom.. the room was cozy, well equipped and warm. The bathroom was a little cold even though very beautiful and I think it was recently renovated. However even though I chose the room myself to save a little, the external bathroom is a little bothersome. Breakfast was tasty and I appreciated the gluten free bread. There was full English breakfast, yogurt, honey, butter,.. An advice: who serves breakfast has to know what food contains gluten and what not.
