Crowne Plaza Madrid - Centre Retiro

We had a business conference in the Voco Retiro from Monday to Wednesday at the end of February. To say I was impressed with the staff at the hotel is an understatement, nothing was a problem, they were all so helpful and we had everything we needed. The conference room was set up the way we requested, coffee breaks and lunch were at the times requested, the lunch was fantastic! The hotel rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. Working in tourism myself I would absolutely recommend this hotel 100% for a few nights stay or a business conference.

Absolutely loved this hotel. It was perfect for a couple traveling with their children. We stayed for a week, the location was amazing across the street from The amazingly beautiful Retiro park. The staff was great, rooms cleaned very well. We had the included breakfast which was great lots of choices. Can’t say enough about it. Having a junior suite with separate bedroom and huge separate space for sitting and bunk beds was key for us to have a wonderful week! Would definitely return!

I had a late checkin around 2AM. This late checkin was already notified to the hotel and it was acknowledged too. Despite this, they gave us twin beds instead of a double bed as per the booking. (Twin bed rooms are normally cheaper than the double bed rooms). On complaining at the reception, they said they are fully booked and can not give us a double bed room. Then what was the point of an advanced booking when you will give it to someone else? Commitment was not fulfilled. The guy on the reception apologised and understanding the situation, I agreed on taking a double room next morning at 11am. When I went to the reception at 11am, there was a different guy who was unaware of the situation. On complaining, he said he can not give me the room as there is no double bed room available. I decided to discuss this further and raise the complain as being nice was not helping me out. After I raised my voice, he called someone and all of a sudden he had a free double bed room and he gave me the keys. There was no compensation for their mistake neither I needed one. Anyways, I stayed there for 3 nights. The room was nice and clean. The location is excellent with many attractions around on a walking distance. Except for the initial complain, everything was OK. I guess it does not happen too often so I can not suggest anyone to avoid this hotel. I gave the ratings on the basis of my personal experience.

Terminal2 is bus and bus is 2 stops from Engles. Walk to line 1 for one minute and line 6 for 6 minutes. Line 6 can be changed to line 8 to the airport. There is Dia opposite the hotel, a little further and there is 24h Carrefour

We stayed at the Ayre Gran Hotel Colon for one night recently. We arrived quite early not expecting the room to be ready but hoping to be allowed to change somewhere because we had a lunchtime reservation. The man on reception checked us in and gave us a room without an issue so we could settle in and get changed comfortably. He also gave us a map and was nice and friendly. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a good size. There were two small complimentary bottles of water in the mini bar. The window cannot be opened unless you ask at reception which I don't like. However it was a big window which made the room nice and light and airy. Breakfast was way too expensive at 20 euros or 16 if booked in advance. We got breakfast for two people for half that price outside the hotel. There is a nice looking bar at the hotel and I believe they do food too. I would stay there again but would look out for cheaper advance booking prices.

The room the hotel is too small. There are many kinds of juices, coffee, and small desserts for breakfast, but there are few other choices. The breakfast is not enough for those who don't like desserts. The advantage is that the hotel is very close to the subway station.
