The Little Hara

The Little Hara is s perfect little quiet place in the heart of lively old medina in Marrakech. Super easy walk to Jemma El Fna. Romantic traditional rooms with all the comfort you need. And everywhere smells like orange blossom. But what made our stay exceptional was the staff. They would make you feel like part of the family. I’d never exchange staying in riad for stay in a hotel. Hotels don’t have that personalized service.

Just off rue sidi el yamani at 7 Derb El Ouartani and a 4 minute walk to taxis at laksour derb elouzmani this little gem is ideally placed. It is a 2minute stroll to the souks and 8 minutes to Jemaa el fnaa square in the day and 5 at night when the souks are less crowded. There is a really good restaurant not 100 metres away. Sidi el yamani is traffic free at night and only a few bikes and deliveries use it in the day so it is very quiet especially at night. The riad has just seven rooms. Three at ground level overlooking the courtyard. Three more are one floor up and one at the top. We were in the Asni room on the ground floor. It has very comfortable twin beds, a seating area with a small table and a separate en suite bathroom with a large walk in shower with both a rainfall and hand held shower. Good quality toiletries and towels are provided and replaced when required. Breakfast is served on the roof terrace or in the courtyard and is tasty mix of yoghurt or fresh fruit salad, bread rolls, local flat breads, cake, preserves, soft cheese, olive oil, amlou and honey along with eggs cooked to your choice and fresh orange juice and coffee. We were even welcomed back by Ali from a hard day’s haggling in the souks with complementary mint tea. The whole ambience of the riad is tranquil and unobtrusive and the two guys deal with all requests with patience and constant smiles. Jamal is there from about 7.00 p.m. and also serves breakfast and Ali is there from about 11.00 a.m. until 7.00 p.m. Both are very friendly, speak good English and happily go above and beyond their basic duties. Ali pre booked an airport pick up for us and despite a 2 hour wait the driver was still smiling and waiting for us which was a nice surprise. He also booked a taxi for us to visit a restaurant out of town and for the return and agreed the fare in advance so there were no arguments with the driver. Everything was perfect, five star and we recommend the Little Hara and its staff as you will not be disappointed. We will be back.

My stay at The Little Hara was absolutely fabulous! When I arrived, I was welcomed by Ali who made my stay most comfortable with his helpful and warm manner! I had actually arrived way before check in time as my flight had landed in Morocco early in the morning. Even though I arrived so early, it was not an issue for the team at The Little Hara! When I was organising my stay at The Little Hara, the person I booked with kindly organised an airport transfer for me for when I arrived. This was a very helpful touch which made my arrival stress free. As soon as I arrived, I was provided with a pot of delicious mint tea and some biscuits to enjoy while I waited for my room to be ready. As I arrived so early, the team kindly got my room ready earlier so I could get comfortable and freshen up before heading out for the day. I had a one night stay booked at The Little Hara and Ali and his colleague both looked after me very well, consistently providing impeccable service with a smile! It was my first time in Marrakech and both gentlemen were very helpful when I asked for help navigating the souks and finding places. Ali also helped me to organise my transfer from The Little Hara to the hotel I was staying at with ease and without complications! In terms of location, The Little Hara is ideally located in the heart of the centre, only a few minutes walk away from the souks! While staying there, I also met the owner of The Little Hara, and just like the rest of the staff members, he was also very friendly and welcoming! The room itself was beautiful! It was a good size and spotlessly clean! The stained glass windows made a beautiful coloured pattern on the wall opposite with the light shining through them! I really liked that they had included a fruit bowl, some snacks and water in the room! The next morning I was served a scrumptious Moroccan breakfast, it was a very large portion which kept me well satiated until lunch time! All in all this was an excellent first experience of staying in a Riad and I’m really glad that I chose The Little Hara to stay at! My only regret is that I only booked The Little Hara for one night! If I get the chance to go back to Marrakech in the future, I would happily book The Little Hara for the whole duration of my stay!
