Hotel O Sole Mio

Hotel is not in Sorrento, it is 20 to 40 minutes bus ride away, depending on route, traffic conditions, or 1 to 2 hour walk, mostly downhill depending on route taken, fitness, and walking conditions, obviously takes longer coming back if you decide to walk back, people do it. This hotel is not for you if looking for a Sorrento hotel, and if you make the mistake and book here, then don’t go finding fault with hotel, facilities, staff because of your mistake. Hotel is not in the centre of Sant’ Agata, again depending on mobility, to reach bus stop, tourist information, main part of town downhill around 10 to 15 minute walk, and 15 to 20 minute back up. If you enjoy walking, and exploring back streets on way to Sorrento, or around Sant’ Agata, then this is an ideal location, or if you want a hotel to escape the hordes of Sorrento and day trippers to the town. Hotel is used by tour groups, there were 3 different Swedish tour groups a handful of other one night tour groups, using hotel and lots of Italians in over weekend. Looked at this hotel last year when visiting area, initially dismissed it as somewhere we would not book, due to being too modern for us, size of hotel, we prefer much smaller hotels, lack of kerb appeal. This year we were looking for April get away to Italy, came up as being used by Jet2, decided as knew area to go ahead and book, plus as travel agent said, this has a balcony, compared to another hotel, on offer in Sant’ Agnello, so went ahead and booked it. Glad we did. Road outside of hotel can get busy, mainly locals in cars, and walkers, nothing like the roads in the town, car park for hotel located across road. The hotel has a swimming pool, and garden with bar to the side of the hotel, pool and bar was closed, first week here, plenty other hotels pools are not open at this time of year, plus weather was not always good, windy, raining and cold, so no idea why a couple complained when if there was water in the pool, it would not have been practical to use it. Heard this apparently if a hotel advertises a pool, it has to be open to use whatever the weather! Pool opened second week, better weather. There is a free bus service from hotel to Sorrento, but only for a couple of months in high season, so not in use, at this time of the year. Room Free keypad safe, room is open planned, no wardrobes or draws, but then it means less chance of leaving belongings behind. It would possibly benefit from a mirror, not really an issue, as one in bathroom, which did the job. Unusual but there was a kettle in the room, and complimentary tea and coffee. Small fridge stocked, personally not a fan of mini bars, would get rid of this, and leave fridge. TV can get a few English channels, mainly news channels. Balcony is a little small width wise, on plus side private as you cannot see your neighbours, table and 2 chairs. We spent 4 days here during our trip along the Amalfi Coast and really enjoyed the hotel, the nice rooms and the facilities including the bar outside and the pool. Many activities can be booked from the hotel so you don't have to do all that in advance. Transport to Sorrento is a top service. Plenty of parking spaces, also handy. Finally, very friendly staff, they deserve a big 10 !!! We will definitely return here in the future.

EasyJet meets Travelodge is how I’d sum up this hotel. Extremely basic. No lamps proper wardrobe or drawers. No tea and coffee or room service. Panoramic view of the car park. Bar and dining room devoid of atmosphere. St Agata is a delight and a short walk away albeit up/ down hill which is fine for us. The pool is clean cold and round the corner. The bed was comfortable and the tired bathroom very clean. Staff were friendly. There is no way this is 4*. 2-3 at best. We were attending a wedding at the Relais 5* opposite and there was zero comparison. Definitely not worth £216 per night.

Excellent staff, friendly faces, really clean. 3rd floor with view is highly recommended. I emailed ahead and Veronica pre-booked the room for us. Breakfast is exactly what you expect. Lots of choice. Evening meal is a bit hit and miss. We’d rather have the option of bed and breakfast to be honest. Can’t fault the cleanliness, view and staff. 7-8 minute walk to a little town with great bars and a 2 Michelin Star restaurant. Can’t knock that! Free transfers to Sorrento also is a bonus.

We stayed here as a young couple last summer and had the best time. The staff are most friendly, and extremely helpful. When we arrived we were placed in a room over looking the street which was a little disappointing how ever after asking at réception if we could move rooms to the other side of the hotel with a balcony they moved us with out hesitation. The rooms were nice and spacious with good air conditioning. The view was okay, but as the hotel is quite high up on the mountain/ hill you can’t have a sea view room anyway !! The food was amazing, lovely pasta, meat dishes, vegetarian options. Lovely serving staff too all very friendly. I have stayed in a different hotel when coming to sorrento before and the experience in this hotel was so much more welcoming. The pool garden was very quiet, most days it was just us two. The pool is very small but big enough to play around it. There’s a shuttle bus that goes into sorrento town at certain times. That was extremely useful as taxis are €50+ for a one way journey. The hotel is near a very small traditional Italian town which was a lovely walk too. Overall I couldn’t recommend this hotel more and when we come back to sorrento I will be making sure to visit again⭐️!!
