Bickleigh Castle
"Went for the Castle and grounds tour followed by Tea and Scones. A perfect day out, a very interesting tour with some fascinating historic details. It was perfectly finished off with great company and fresh scones and tea. Highly recommended even if not staying at their beautiful accommodations."
Hillside Bed and Breakfast
"Second visit and perfect in every way. The bedrooms are well equipped and immaculate and beds very comfortable. Breakfast selection fantastic and delicious. Thank you Sue"
Bridge House
"We booked all 3 rooms for several days for a family wedding in the town. It couldn't have been a better place to stay. Very comfortable beds in beautifully appointed rooms, and the owner, Caroline, being an exceptional host. The food was also delicious, with the lemon curd biscuits going down especially well with my wife. Bridge House was the epitome of rest and calm before & after busy days of wedding preparation and celebration. I cannot recommend it highly enough."
New Inn
"Excellent meal, home made , chips were a proper colour. Sticky toffee pudding was the best ever. Landlord an affable man, enjoyed the lunch there. Will go again. Good selection of beers. Old public house, typical Devon pub. Tables and general cleanliness was excellent. The live parrot was an attraction, he has been in the pub for many years. No problem. Over cast day on our visit, the pub has an outdoors seating area which would be nice in the sunshine."
Fox & Hounds Country Hotel
"Nice looking buildings in a secluded location, check in time of 3pm is the latest we have ever come across, room was OK but pretty basic & could do with some updating. Don't think it's really value for money though & you need to be aware that you can't take drinks out of your £35 per person dinner allowance, even though they appear on the dining bill! Food was quite nice but there are very few choices on the menu, limited if you don't like fish. Breakfast was serve yourself from a heated buffet table, not my favourite! Dire lukewarm coffee. Sorry but for the money I think there are better value places to stay."
The Quarrymans Rest
"Best pub I've been in in a long, long time! A proper, honest pub. Very friendly. Well kept beer and a pickled duck egg! What more do you want? If you remember when pubs were pubs then don't miss this beauty. Thank you for making us so welcome. See you soon."
Anchor Inn
"Amazing staff and fabulous locals. Lauren from the bar went above and beyond to help me out of issue on LEJOG she is one in a million. The food was fabulous when we ate there and all the locals were extremely welcoming thank you all"
The Globe Inn
The Exeter Inn
"Had a wander down here while staying in Bampton. It didn't have much to offer for the length of the walk, so we sadly didn't return. The barman was lovely and served us well, but then all we could hear was him complaining about his job to other customers, which let him down. Maybe had it been busier the atmosphere would have a bit more inviting."
