I would avoid this hotel completely. Room is mediocre. Food is awful. I’ve never sent food back before to anywhere I’ve eaten in my life until today and with it being a town there was nowhere else to eat. Not worth it at all and this was our first night way as a first time family. Do not recommend. I am really upset at how bad this was.

Great place to stay for breaking the journey to or from Scotland. Hotel staff were all very helpful and very good service. The public rooms and bedrooms were all well decorated to a high standard. I would class this as a high standard traditional hotel.

Beautiful hotel, but the food experience was dreadful. Duck was served cold with burnt garnish, cauliflower arrived charred beyond recognition—less “chargrilled,” more cremated. Ordered a gin and tonic, got gin and soda water. No manager on duty, no one to address the issues. Front-of-house staff were doing their absolute best, and I genuinely felt for them. They were let down by a kitchen that seemed to be on autopilot and a management team that had clearly clocked off. For the price and promise of the place, this was far below expectations. Room was excellent—easily the highlight of the stay—but the overall experience left a bitter taste, and not just from the burnt veg. A beautiful hotel deserves better leadership and better food. Right now, it’s style over substance.

A bit of a let down, e food was cold and portions quite small. Serving staff were not on the ball. Sadly an expensive meal and really not what you’d expect. Window peels in the bar/ conservatory area are blown and it was cold. Cheese board is £10 for very small bits of not exciting cheese with crackers that added colour but no Tae and braised grapes.

Great hotel, lovely big room, friendly staff, fantastic breakfast, beautiful setting. Moffat is a small town but with plenty of places to eat and drink. Friendly locals and a great taxi service provided by Ruth’s taxi’s recommended by the hotel

What an excellent find in Moffat. A fantastic old building with cosy comfortable bar, excellent staff, excellent wine and tremendous food. We had a king size bed which gave us a comfortable sleep. Plenty parking at front, beautiful setting for dinner which overlooks the gardens. The breakfast was fantastic, met by pleasant waiter who looked after us. Haggis for breakfast was great idea and went really well with full Scottish breakfast. We will definitely return in future. Highly recommended!!

A visit to the Moffat House Hotel is a real treat. I always look forward to my visits. It so so beautifully and tastefully decorated, it just feels so luxurious. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating. The food is amazing and very reasonably priced.

We arrived for some lunch, shown to a table and we both had a drink each (coffee and diet coke). After 30 minutes of waiting for someone to provide a menu, take our order we gave up, paid and left, then went elsewhere. Had better service in a greasy spoon.
