I was assigned a small room at the back, which I was told was the last room left, due to an event that night. I complained at reception, having been unable to find the details of my reservation online. They could not help! I was told that I requested a quiet room, which it true. BUT, I also request an airport shuttle 2x and got not reply.
Most critically, the room had a very bad smell & after my second trip downstairs on a busy night due to the wedding I explained that I refused to sleep there. I had left opposite facing windows open for 10 mins to air, without improvement. FInally, 2 cleaners were sent & one explained that a wall had just been painted! I complained again & finally they discovered another room!
40 mins after check-in, I moved my luggage to the new room (no offer to help). Bad service at Esplender hotel.

A very good more upscale hotel in Montevideo. it's close to many transport options and breakfast was included as well.
The rooms were alright; but nothing that wasn't working.
The staff were super welcoming and warm, always attentive and smiling, especially at the front desk!

I needed somewhere nice to stay for a quick visit to Montevideo- this hotel is in desperate need of renovation, the rooms themselves were clean but absolutely tiny- I could barely move around the room. Breakfast was decent and service was great, friendly staff. For the price, I think it is okay.

In the old town, a very good stay experience, the house is very European style, cleaned every day, there are many European buildings nearby, close to the beach, within walking distance

Check-in is at 3pm and check-out is at 11am, which is a little bit uncomfortable. The building has a sense of history, and the decoration and facilities inside are not very new, which is different from the hotels under 200 in China, but the price here is reasonable. It is very close to Independence Square. In short, I am quite satisfied.
