This is one of the most exquisite places in the US. We were, however, very disappointed not to get to have our breakfast in the Easton Dining Room. Right after the renovation, we stayed at The Chanler and they used the Cara area for breakfast. That was the most beautiful experience in Newport, with classical music and wide ocean views. For whatever reason, they decided to discontinue this experience. If we had known, we would not have booked a multi-night stay. The main reason we had booked was so we could have that wonderful breakfast in the Easton Room setting. That’s a one-of-a-kind experience for hotel guests, and my family and I talked about it for weeks. Now, we had to be content having breakfast in the darker/indirect-ocean-front setting of Remy’s Loose. It doesn’t seem like a big lift for the hotel leadership to organize breakfast at the Easton Room, and this would be a major selling point for hotel guests. Personally, we now know that we would prefer staying elsewhere and just coming by for dinner at The Chanler. Really sad — feels like a major missed opportunity to make this a unique hotel, and I hope this comment will make the hotel owner/leadership reconsider this. If they do, we’d be glad to book The Chanler again. But for now, we’re booking a different hotel and simply having dinner in the Easton Room.
