Nikko Senhime Monogatari

The hotel's hot spring bath smelled of bleach and I dared not soak in it. I felt that the grade difference was too big after moving from Asaya to this one, although there was no difference in price. The dinner in the set meal was really too ordinary. If you have eaten Kaiseki in Tokyo or buffet in Asaya, it is recommended not to buy this set meal. There are many restaurants nearby with better choices. The room facilities are old and poorly maintained. When I checked in, I was assigned a room and could not change it. I don't know if it was because I was a foreign guest that I was arranged on the lowest 3rd floor and the river view was blocked by pine trees outside the window, but the view of the river was ordinary. It would be better to go out and have a cup of tea at the riverside stall.

Cool and high-class ryokan hotel. Optimal location for exploring Nikko and surrounding attractions, excellent service, clean and cool onsen with a variety of creams, which can be bought right there in the souvenir shop. Great and varied dinner and breakfast, inexpensive drinks. We stayed for 2 days and 4 meals were different on the menu. It was nice to receive gift coupons for souvenirs and alcohol at the hotel. View of the mountain river right from the room. Girls can choose a yukata of the color they like for their stay in the ryokan. It's cool that for the entire stay in the ryokan you are assigned one maid who feeds you and sees you off and helps deliver your luggage - you feel like you are visiting friends. The staff is great - very attentive, but not intrusive. The downsides are the slightly tired room, but not lacking traditional chic, old curtains, cold light in the room (personally not very pleasant for me, I would advise the hotel to think about replacing the lamps with 3000 Kelvin). I highly recommend the ryokan, the guys are trying.
