What a gem of a hotel. Beautiful room with lots of extra treats in! Comfy bed & the staff so helpful & polite. The breakfasts were amazing with plenty of choice. Just a short walk in to the city. Would definitely return with added benefit of restaurant & pudding on site

We thought we would treat ourselves to a night away. The room was clean, tidy and well presented as well as very even though there was a wedding reception happening and that our windows overlooked the garden and restaurant. The bathroom was spotless and the bed was very comfy. However, not all was as good as we first thought. Upon closer inspection, the fridge was not plugged in (due to it not having a plug cable at all!), the room was very hot despite all windows being open and the fan on full blast meaning we were unable to get extended periods of sleep. The TV did not work completely as despite all the settings being on bright, we were unable to see anything on the screen. The fire alarm then went off intermittently from about 5:30 as well as the hot water being turned off. Unfortunately, there was a leak in the bar area which meant limited service for breakfast as well a tree had collapsed onto the cars of several guests.

The hotel is very handy for the town centre and has free parking for guests. Drawbacks: 1. My first floor room -4 had no fridge unlike my friend’s room. A request for breakfast tea and milk was not responded to. 2. Bedside Plug sockets behind table. None by desk. No usb sockets. 3. Decor - dark paint and one window made the room gloomy. The furnishings were strange a desk and bedside cabinets which looked as through they were purchased from a prep school closing down sale. No wardrobe just a rail with hangers. Badly stained carpet on the landing outside the room. 4. No price list for the mini bar or instructions for the expresso machine. 5. Was it necessary for the window cleaner to be cleaning the exterior windows of the lavatory and shower room at 8.15 am as I was washing? I appreciate that 2 and 3 would take sometime to be rectified but 1, 4 and 5 should easily resolved. ‘Boutique’ and ‘quirky’ and the Georgian heritage can be combined with modern furniture and facilities.

Have been for a lunch a couple of times recently and have been disappointed. There seems to be 5/6 members of senior-looking staff all on laptops taking up tables for customers, discussing things such as wages within hearing range of customers, and we’ve had to wait long times to be greeted or served due to those staff talking to the staff on shift. The cost of a pint of lager will set you back more than £7. The food is pretty tasteless, nothing special at all for the high price and we weren’t checked upon during our meal to check that we were enjoying it. Not sure if it’s under new management at all but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, there’s several other more reasonably priced places in Norwich for much tastier food and better service.

We spent a Friday night here as a belated wedding anniversary trip to Norwich. There was such high potential for this hotel, and it really is a stunning building with impressive decor hoover due to a wedding party taking place, and guests staying up all night and not going to bed until 5:30am and 6:30am, we got hardly any sleep. We were in room 10, right next to the main stairwell, hence we heard everyone coming up the stairs. Pros: The staff were friendly, the breakfast was delicious, and the rooms (although in need of a paint refresh) were pleasant and comfortable. The city centre was only a short walk away. Cons: No available parking, due to the wedding party, so we had to pay to park elsewhere. Noisy wedding guests staying up all night until literally 6:30am. This would probably have been a very different experience had we been staying there midweek as we might have actually got some sleep!

Booked here for one night for a birthday. On arrival we were sadly disappointed. The place is tatty, and grubby. The room was a disappointment and not like it looked on the pictures. The lamp was broken, one upper light didn’t work, the handle on the bedside table was broken and the bathroom was mouldy and grubby. We asked to be moved to another room but there was no other option, instead a new lamp was brought up. There were some nice features like fresh milk in the fridge. But overall it is clear that the rooms need a lick of paint, good clean and once over. The breakfast spread looked lovely and would have been….. except for the fact my eggs Benedict arrived with a hair on it. Would I stay here again? Definitely no. Such a shame as I’m sure it used to be a lovely venue.

Clearly extensively renovated in recent years with a lot of charm. However now sorely in need of a refresh. Badly stained carpets and scuffed paintwork are letting the place down. Bed was large and very comfortable, room was warm & cleaned. Bathroom clean and well stocked with towels. Shower excellent. Liked the refillable dispensers for soap etc. Broken tiles at skirting board need to be repaired. Appreciated the tea & coffee facilities, especially liked the milk being in a small glass bottle instead of plastic pods. However it wasn't clear if the snacks were complimentary or not. Wifi was a washout. Unable to get online at all in my room & staff didnt seem to be able to fix it. Breakfast was fine, good selection available, coffee bitter. Individual cafetieres would work better. Location excellent, easy walk to town centre. Staff were very pleasant.

Had my wedding there and whilst the place (as a whole) looks fantastic and the servers were wonderful the organisation, communication and the poor state of The Nest ( told this was bridal suite) was shocking. No wedding coordinator on the day, room was shabby at best, lost mothers bouquet and a couple of gifts. My son had an apartment that had an issue with the lock, spoke to hotel reception, and nothing was done. He ended up barricading himself in to feel safe. When you think we had met their minimum spend and booked 5 rooms for the night before and 9 of the night of our wedding, we were hoping for a magical time but this certainly left a sour taste in out mouths.
