289 Midway Motel ★★★

"Very good motels in the town. Everything was completed and very comfortable. The owner was quite friendly . We got the ground floor room, and the car was Juz parked infront of the room. Super convenient."

Casa Nova House ★★★★★

📍 1 Alt Street, Oamaru North, Oamaru

"Our room was absolutely wonderful. A comfortable bed, lovely bathroom, an ocean view and to top it off a home cooked breakfast, lodge style, in the morning. Thank you to our hosts for a lovely stay."

📍 126 Thames Street, Oamaru

"The front desk staff were incredibly friendly. We were greeted with welcome milk upon check-in and even received handmade cookies. The breakfast in the morning was excellent, a classic Western spread. Overall, it was a fantastic stay and highly recommended."

Brydone Hotel Oamaru

Brydone Hotel Oamaru ★★★

📍 115 Thames Street, Oamaru

"Nice place with central location of the Oamaru town, near Woolworth supermarket, some nice old-fashion places and beach. Nice to visit and grab photos. Hotel keeps original decoration you can feel warm with the fireplace and wooden furniture. But the room is clean with modern style."

Oamaru Motor Lodge

Oamaru Motor Lodge ★★★★

📍 391 Thames Highway, Oamaru North, Oamaru

"The smell of the room was not very good and the facilities were relatively basic. This was my least favorite motel in the whole trip."

Pen-y-bryn ★★★★★

📍 41 Towey Street, Holmes Hill, Oamaru

"James' service and attitude were excellent. Great value for money. Very nice to stay here for one night and the continental breakfast was also very good. Too bad they are closing, so hurry if you want to stay."

The Mews Oamaru
9.1 (56 reviews)

The Mews Oamaru ★★★★

📍 26 Exe Street, Oamaru

"The landlord is very nice. When you check in with the key, you will receive a small bottle of milk~ This time I booked a cabin room, number 19. It was very nice. I felt like I had a small home in New Zealand~ Parking is available at the door, and each parking space is marked with a room number, one parking space for each family. The room facilities are a little bit old, the exhaust fan is a bit loud, the heater in the bedroom seems to be broken, and finally the heater in the living room is turned on. Since I was in a hurry, I didn’t take any photos. There are McDonald’s, KFC, etc. nearby. When you go out of the hotel and turn a corner, you will reach the main road of the town."

ASURE Ambassador Motor Lodge
8.6 (78 reviews)

ASURE Ambassador Motor Lodge ★★★★

📍 296 Thames Highway, Oamaru North, Oamaru

"Look at these two hot and cold faucets that are quite far apart, how to use hot water! Cold or hot, hot or cold, hot and cold water cannot be mixed at all! Moreover, the spout is almost close to the pool wall. Is this for guests to use their towels to wipe the pool? More than 1,000 per night! The accommodation experience is so bad! Even children cannot use hot water to wash their feet with PP!"

The Nest on Till
9.3 (7 reviews)

The Nest on Till ★★★

📍 35 Till Street, South Hill, Oamaru

"It is lovely home and well decorated. Clean and feel like home stay. Well equipped with kitchen amenities and washing machine and dryer. Free coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Whole house having heater except the walk way to toilet and laundry room."

Casa Nova House ★★★★★
"Our stay at Casa Nova House was an absolute highpoint in our visit to New Zealand, in my case, a month spent on the South Island. From the Old World charm of the house and grounds, which I won't even try to describe since I know I won't be able to do it justice - you just have to experience it - to the warm, generous hospitality of our hosts, it wasn't merely a nice place to stay while exploring the area, it was a magnetic and inviting place in and of itself, one to which you can't wait to return. And there is one reason in particular for that: Brenda and Katrina are the most delightful, gracious hosts I personally can recall from any of my travels over many years. Katrina is a wellspring of information, and not just dry information - she makes it interesting and fun, a real conversationalist. Brenda, too, is a joy to talk to, and her breakfasts are the most delicious works of art, but also hearty and substantial (I can scarcely imagine what a remarkable treat it would be to experience what might be offered up if she were preparing dinner). I could go on at great length, but suffice it to say, you'll be grandly well fed here. This is so much more than a standard B&B and, having stayed at many of them in various parts of the world, I have to say we've never felt more genuinely welcome, as if we were family."

"This hotel is steeped in history and thoughtful design. From the decor and furnishings to the amenities, you can feel the owner's dedication and commitment to every detail. The front desk staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The lobby is locked after 8 PM as there's no one on duty, but there are other entrances to access the hotel. The location is excellent, with a large supermarket nearby. It's within walking distance of the Victorian Historic Precinct, and along the way, you'll find many historical sites and unique small shops. The hotel doesn't have private parking, but street parking nearby is free from 5 PM until 9:30 AM the next day. If you need to park longer, it costs one New Zealand Dollar per hour. Breakfast primarily consists of simple pastries, cold cuts, fruit, and hot and cold beverages. Overall, it was a comfortable stay. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Oamaru!"

Brydone Hotel Oamaru ★★★
"It’s a vintage hotel, I’m surprised with the lift which is very old type of lift, the design very pretty and retro. Room is quite spacious for 4 adults. The heater is very powerful and strong. The hotel is located near to the town center and precinct street, just a few minutes of walk can reach."

"I thought it might have been our imagination, but after reading two similar reviews from guests who stayed during the same time we did (Nov. & Jan., 2025 - 26), I think it wasn't just us. My friend and I also felt initially that we were imposing on our hosts, rather than feeling welcomed, but we persevered, and one of "the Jameses" at least finally warmed up a bit. I think it was our request to meet their dogs that did it. The place is gorgeous and impeccably maintained. The delicious (vegetarian - we had requested in advance) dinner was a bit awkward, with only the 2 of us and the unsmiling chef (the other James), but breakfast was very impressive and more friendly, with several other guests to talk with. A good lesson in tolerance for different types of personalities."

"Chinese service, attentive and enthusiastic service, the car encountered some problems, the owner has been helping to communicate on the phone, thank you very much! The room is clean and hygienic. It has its own yard and parking is convenient. The car is parked at the door of the room. The motel is right on the main road, making it easy to get in and out. This is a very nice motel, highly recommended!"
