⭐ 1 Star I have been a loyal customer of The Fountain Hotel for years, regularly bringing my family for Sunday roasts. However, after my most recent visit, I received a £100 parking fine two months later—despite parking in the hotel's own car park, as I have always done. I called the hotel five times to ask for assistance, and each time, I was told the manager would sort it out. He did not. Worse still, he never returned my calls, which is absolutely unacceptable customer service. Given how poorly this was handled, we will no longer be dining here. It's a shame because we used to visit once or twice a month, but we will now take our business elsewhere. Be warned—if you visit, you might end up with an unexpected parking fine and no help from management!

I attended a training weekend and we were placed in a pretty little outhouse, but unfortunately this was not at all suitable. The WIFI connection was extremely poor, which meant long waits and drop outs in the middle of working through the exercises. This became really frustrating. We were told that a signal booster would be available for the next day but we chose to leave and go elsewhere to complete the course. The room was dark with coloured lighting that kept going out (they were overheating), and there weren't enough electrical sockets where we were sitting. The radiators were on low and, because the building was so old and tall the heat dissipated to the celling, I suspect, which left us feeling chilly and was not conducive for learning.

Attended Day 1 planning weekend and was met with a cold room described as a conference room. No facilities or adequate heating. Then asked to leave after the manager removed the HDMI lead, when we went to lunch, to watch a rugby match. When our trainer asked for it back was met with a lot of abuse and asked to leave if we don t like it. Definitely not a way to run a business. The lost revenue could have been around £1500 I guess they don’t need the money. I would not be recommending the conference room or establishment to anyone.

Very disappointing stay: Heating not working, damp showing in bedroom, severe damp above shower, unable to unlock room to get in and had to get help from the bar. Lady told us to use brute force which she did to open it. In the morning, unable to use the sink as water wouldn’t drain away, tried to go down for breakfast but the door would not unlock. Rang hotel number 5 times over next 40 minutes with no reply. About to ring police to get help, but instead decided to use a Swiss army penknife to remove the lock myself, so that we could actually get out of the room. After a disappointing breakfast, I reported our difficulties to the girl who gave us breakfast and asked her to report it to the management. Was hoping we would get an apology from them but have heard nothing. Very overpriced accommodation for the state of the room. Would not recommend to anyone and will not stay there again.

I booked the hotel last minute and liked the look of the property and previous reviews. Arriving at the property, the welcome was warm from both the Hosts and customers which have a great first impression, the bar and lounge are very well presented and honour the period style with a twist of modern. I had booked the last room which was room 4, this had a double and single bed which suited a small family, the room is well presented with all the amenities required for a comfortable stay, the en suite shower room was again freshly refurbished and well presented, the bed was very comfortable which lead to a good nights sleep. Sadly I had to leave before breakfast so never got to taste the food, I will definitely return.
