A hot spring inn by Lake Biwa, with 1200 years of history and a base for sightseeing in Kyoto
Located by the shores of Lake Biwa, "Komorebi" is a relaxing hot spring inn where you can enjoy the historic "Ogoto Onsen," which has a history of approximately 1200 years, at a reasonable price. The adjacent sister inn "Yumotokan" offers facilities such as an open-air bath with a view, spa treatments, and a shop. Guests staying at Komorebi can use the facilities of Yumotokan . It is very convenient as a base for sightseeing in Kyoto, being about a 20-minute train ride from Kyoto Station, with a shuttle bus available from Ogoto Onsen Station to the inn.
Situated in the grounds of world heritage Enryaku-ji Temple on Mt. Hiei. The view over Lake Biwa is a highlight.

Amazing
GGuest UserVery nice room, very good service, very good breakfast.
The fly in the ointment is that the shading of the room is not very good, and friends who care about it can prepare an eye mask.
In addition, it is best to communicate the check-in time before check-in, so as not to eat closed doors
PPYPYThe single room is relatively large. What I like most is the window. The sun shines in every morning and it feels very warm. The bathroom is a bit small, and the space saved is used in the room, so the room does not feel depressing. The location is a few hundred meters away from Otsu JR Station, and it takes 5 minutes to walk there. The hotel logo on the roof is very eye-catching and easy to find. The hotel has a free buffet breakfast, which is quite rich. After staying for three days, there are still some different things. The local specialty Omi beef is also provided, which is delicious. This small town has a small population and is very quiet. The attractions are not inferior to Kyoto. It is worth visiting. It's a pity that the cherry blossoms are not in bloom, otherwise it would be more beautiful. The hotel also provides facial masks, which are also very good.
KKitVery nice. The owner is very nice and helpful. He is able to speak English. Moreover, the private Onsen room is really impressive. Hope I can go next time.
AAnhuiThe cheap price has its reasons, it is equivalent to the domestic Super 8. It is quite convenient to shop and take a bus around. One step to the countryside, one step to the bustling city, one step to the mountain, and one step to the boat. If a person is tired of the hustle and bustle of the city and wants to hide occasionally, this is still a good choice. After all, it is absolutely affordable to live here in seclusion for a month or two in Japan.
AAnonymous UserThe accommodation comes with breakfast, and the breakfast is rich. The breakfast changes every day for three days, which is good. The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from JR Otsu. There are some shops and supermarkets around. You can walk to Mii Temple, but it is relatively quiet and there are not many tourists. I stayed on the 14th floor. The room is small but well-equipped. I operated the machine myself. There were Chinese prompts. I chose not to clean, but I was given a new towel every day, which was hung in the bag outside the door. The wifi in the room was available in the afternoon of the first day, but it was not available at night. I went to the front desk to negotiate. The communication was a bit complicated, but it was solved smoothly. In addition, a password was given, but the wifi in the room on the 14th floor was not very stable for three days. Overall, it is still a recommended place.
GGuest UserLocated right at JR Otsu Station, you can just step out of the ticket gate and take the elevator straight up to the hotel. Super convenient!
GGuest UserIt is directly connected to Otsu Station. There is also a supermarket directly connected to the station.
The free area has a microwave, kettle, and water server.
The capsules are spacious, which is common these days, and I have no complaints.
It is also convenient that the lockers and capsules are close to each other.
It was generally empty so it didn't bother me too much, but if the capsule booths are full, the free area, toilets, showers, etc. will probably be crowded.
If I had one complaint, it would be that the route to the hotel goes through the restaurant, which I thought was not suitable for budget travelers.
AA.Y.LSuch a lovely hostel to stay. The owner is very friendly. If you’re looking for a place that offers nature and rest, only 10 minutes away from Kyoto station. This is your place
RRoger MichaelOk. First of all leave your expectations at home expecting hotel level service. Once you've done that if you want a cheap but clean place to stay this is it. This is a seinenkan - a facility for youth and youth-related organizations to conduct independent study and recreational activities, many of which have basic accommodation facilities but higher grade facilities than youth hostels. They are located all over Japan. I stayed in a tatami mat room on a floor with shared toilet facilities. The ground floor has a large communal bath - obviously separate for male and females. They have lights out at 11 p.m. and guests must return by the same time. There is a very modern cafe onsite serving cheap breakfasts (see photos) but the cafe closes by 6 p.m. There is a convenience store 10 minutes walk away so I suggest you buy snacks and beverages en route from JR Ishiyama station. For dinner, there is a family restaurant - good value and okay food - about 6 minutes walk away.
The seinenkan is located on a small island by a historic bridge. The views of the river inlet flowing into the main Lake Biwa is relaxing, lots of bird wildlife, and lots of rowers (the seinenkan is a water sports facility too). and the sunrise and sunset views are lovely.
The staff are very kind. It cost me ¥5,500 for one night and I will stay there again if I have the opportunity.
