Amazing
Beautifully restored building on the edge of the Samurai District. Close walk to everything in town. The room was stunning- no detail was lost. The bath was amazing.

Completed during renovations this April, this hotel is one of the best in Rutou Hot Spring Township. Dinner was plentiful, the food was excellent, and the service was attentive; we were very satisfied. Highly recommended!

Very nice experience. The cafe has a warm and cozy ambience. The room is unique too with nice lakeview. The meals are special too. It is better to order meals during this period as you cannot find food elsewhere easily. It’s strongly recommended to visit the Lake Tazawa. The water is so calm and clear and clean.

The room was huge and tidy. The staff were very nice. The pick up and drop off service at the near by bus stop was very appreciated especially in the snowy winter. The food was simple but good. The private off spring was most impressed and recommended.

AAlbert Alexandre AlexisAs luxurious as one can expect. Beautiful place in a secluded natural environment with lavish service and delicious food. The bath are very well prepared and the staff is extremely kind and attentive.
It is a hard ask but it would be nice to have some western options at breakfast. But of course this is a Japanese traditional inn yet these options would feel even more luxurious.
Some of the decoration feels a bit either dated, kitsch or not being harmonious, I think they need a redesign of the furnitures are it looks more like an assemblage than a harmonious selection of decoration and furnitures. It’s a little on the weird side even sometimes!
But the bedding is exceptional. You will have a great sleep at this stay!

Love the location and the private onsen with lake view, you have option to reserve this by yourself so it’s quite convenient as we have a room for ourselves for 30 minutes to enjoy the onsen and the views. The building is quite old from outside but the room and amenities are quite okay, they provided everything you needed for your stay. We would love to go back for the cherry blossoms

The environment is very good. The hotel is right next to the lake. If you make a reservation, the merchant will pick you up at the JR station by car. The hot spring is also very comfortable and worth visiting.

The hotel is a 15-minute walk from Kakunodate Station, or a short, inexpensive taxi ride away. It's perfectly located right at the entrance to the scenic area. I enjoyed a very pleasant stroll through the Samurai District (Buke Yashiki) and along the river. Kakunodate is wonderful: it has beautiful cherry blossoms in spring, stunning autumn leaves, and picturesque heavy snow in winter – I absolutely loved it! On my second day, I also rode the Akita Nairiku Line sightseeing train.
