Sunrise Village Beach Hotel ★★★★
"We recently returned from a one week stay at Sunrise Village and as a family with 2 young children, this hotel was perfectly suitable for us. We have travelled to many Greek islands before but never mainland Greece so this was somewhere new for us. The setting is breathtaking, uninterrupted views of the sea and mountains, a view you would never tire of. The pool area is beautiful, with tiered levels of sun loungers and parasols, always plenty available. The pool facilities were excellent, with a separate shallow kid’s pool and a small waterpark just a 5-minute walk across the complex. Lifeguard on duty at the water park, who is great. No lifeguard at the main pool. Location – the hotel is standalone with no shops or restaurants in the immediate vicinity, which we were aware of at time of booking. We took a short 10 minute taxi ride into Petalidi which was really lovely and enjoyed exploring the village with some nice cafes and restaurants, a few small shops and supermarkets, as well as a pharmacy if required. Accommodation – our initial room was very basic, just 4 single beds in a row, and the shower was lukewarm at best, however after some issues with our air con unit, we were moved to an executive room which was of a much better standard, so if we were to return I’d definitely book an executive room. The hotel staff were excellent at handling this issue and reception staff were always helpful. Food and drink – we found the restaurant food to be excellent, we love Greek food so were more than happy with the variety of traditional Greek options available each day, as well as plenty of fresh salad, fruit and home-made pizza. The restaurant team work incredibly hard to keep things turning over. We liked the alcoholic and non-alcoholic self service cocktails at the pool bar, however we were disappointed that there was no ice cream available at the pool bar - this was only available at lunch time and evening meal time. Any all-inclusive hotel we have been to before, has had ice cream available all day for the kids. Entertainment – this was run by the tour operators, none of them British, which wasn’t an issue as everything was spoken in English anyway. It was a little amateur, however, our kids enjoyed the evening mini disco most nights. The kids club was excellent, our children enjoyed bracelet making, rock painting, butterfly hunt, and visits to the play park. Timings were not clear as most of the information displayed around the hotel was not in English. The airport is really small and basic, there is a small duty free shop and some vending machines, but these are not available once you move to your departure gate so make sure to buy any drinks or snacks before going to gate! We would absolutely return to this hotel! Please ignore the negative reviews!"

Hilltop Residences ★★★★
"It was a nice stay in general. The residence was quite big, clean and modern, with a lot of electric sockets in all rooms, even in bathroom. It had a great view of the sea. When we asked for a pillow as we were 4 persons and there were 3 available, the responsible person brought it to us on the next day (she tried to bring it on the same day but by mistake she left it in another residence). We did not have any issue with insects as all windows and external doors (except bathroom) had a mesh screen, and it was possible for us to stay late at night on the balcony, playing board games without issue. The only drawbacks: 1) Passage from parking area to residence did not have enough light so we had to use our mobile phones' strong light, and 2) The access from the road was easy to lose if you do not know the area (we know the area so we did not have an issue). A good quick solution for visitors is to have the big hotel Sunrise Hotel as a spot that is in the same turn of the road. However, residence owner should change the current Hotel sign with one with light or at least with one with light reflection so that it can easily be seen at night. By the way, the property did not send us check-in instructions via email before arrival, but we called the owner 1 day before arrival date and he provided the instructions needed: if someone wants to use a map app, they need to use the iMaps app in an iOS device, if available, as google maps does not lead you correctly to the hotel. Another good suggestion would be to add 1-2 11 kW chargers for electric cars in the parking area. I could not use my electric car in these holidays as there was no fast charger close to the area, so I had to get the one using unleaded gas (not the best option for me). Adding such chargers will give important advantage to the hotel owner versus the other hotels that have not installed one yet as more and more people are using electric cars (just consider that the company I work for have globally decided to change its global car fleet to electric cars until end of 2025). In our Greek affiliate, we will complete this change by end of 2024, so that about 110 cars will all be electric until then (and just consider that this is just a single company, while more and more companies worldwide are switching their fleets to electric cars)."
