Paddington House Hotel

Avoid avoid avoid, this is by far the worst hotel I’ve ever had the misfortune to book, from the outside it is dilapidated and neglected, the foyer is dirty and bare, once checked in I entered the room through a door which didn’t fit properly, I don’t think it would be hard for anyone to access, the walls all had footprints, boot marks and damp stains on them, the bed looked old and it was dirty, no tea/ coffee facilities ( this was my first trip back to reception) when I was given said facilities the cup was stained and dirty. I then noticed there wasn’t a tv in the room ( my next trip back to reception), I was brought a tv which wouldn’t fit in the alcove where it should’ve been so it was balanced on a chair!!!. I then attempted to open the window because the room smelled musky and hot, the windows wouldn’t open, ( this was my next trip to reception), I was handed a bunch of keys, none of which fitted, this was the last straw, off to the local Travelodge I went. i would like to write about the hotel but i cant ,seeing as they cancelled our booking the night before, with no explaination and up to now, no refund. you cant phone em or txt em either. we arent the only people this has happened to either it seems. read the other reviews. it seems like a common occurance. do not book here to avoid disappointment.

ALL THE REVIEWS WERE RIGHT. I genuinely don’t understand how this place is still operating. The moment you step into the hotel, you’re hit with the overwhelming stench of decay—and it only intensifies as you walk through the corridors. By the time you reach your room, it’s nearly unbearable. To be fair, the man at reception was friendly and tried to be helpful. I asked for an iron and ironing board, but apparently the hotel only has one for all guests, and someone else was using it. He did manage to get it to me later that evening, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The pillows were laughably thin—more like sheets of paper—and the mattress had clearly seen far better days. The carpet in the room was filthy; I didn’t even want to take my shoes off. There were suspicious white, crusty stains on the floor, especially near the mirror, and I honestly don’t want to imagine what had gone on in there before my stay. While the bed sheets looked clean, there were no pillow or mattress protectors. Just thinking about what might’ve been lurking beneath that thin, crispy sheet made my skin crawl. As soon as I stepped into the room, regret hit hard. I actually asked myself, “Why did I book this place?” To make things worse, it was 25°C outside—but the hotel had the heating blasting with no way to turn it down. The tiny window barely opened, so not only was I dealing with the awful smell, but the heat made the room feel suffocating. Had I not arrived so late, I would’ve left on the spot. Later that night, I went downstairs to grab a Deliveroo and passed a group of sketchy-looking people. One room had the door wide open; people were sitting on the bed drinking, staring at me as I walked by—it felt like they were high or on something. The walls were paper-thin. I could hear people talking all night. I didn’t feel safe—so much so that I used a chair to barricade my door. At one point, I dropped my phone between the bed and the wall. When I reached down to retrieve it, I was horrified by what I found: years of grime, old food, and who knows what else. To top it off, the TV didn’t have a remote, so I couldn’t even distract myself from the creeping dread that I might not make it through the night. If you’ve ever seen American Horror Story: Hotel, this stay gave the exact same energy. The best part of my visit? Leaving—at 5 a.m.

The hotel has cancelled my room 3 days before due to go ... same as another review ....I even rang to double check my bookings were secure after reading the other review ...... the rate I paid was cheaper than every other rooming the area ...due to an event .... really poor customer service ... b warey if booking seems a common occurance

The staff were friendly and helpful enough but the rooms themselves weren’t the best I’ve ever seen. The desk chair in our room was covered up in a towel and when I removed it was ruined. Sadly the photos were obviously taken many years ago when the hotel was in better condition. The beds were clean so I was happy about that. One good thing about the rooms is that they had tv but as we had two rooms one of the TVs didn’t work.
