Hotel was excellent with everything! Clean rooms / fast elevator / very good breakfast Close to everything / very nice staff

Positives Good location, close to shops, bars, and restaurants. There are two different types of pillows on the bed. There is a fridge to store drinks, etc. The shower head was detachable in the bathroom. The lighting in the room was good. The rooms are cleaned daily, but the standard of cleanliness depends on who cleaned your room. There are plenty of plugs, but it would be nice to have USB sockets for charging equipment. The majority of the staff were lovely. Negatives Only two out of three lifts work, which causes a long wait during busy times. The lift is also not level with the floor and is a tripping hazard. The rooms are a bit dated. The beds are too hard. They need some memory foam toppers. There's no kettle in the room. Sun loungers are very uncomfortable. The plastic digs into your back. They need cushion covers on them. The pool is small and freezing cold. If you have a direct sea view, you will get noise from the Anderson bar until the early hours of the morning. Don't leave any unsealed food out in the room. We brought some pizza back from a restaurant, and it was full of weevils the next day. We saw a similar thing with a neighbour's cake left outside the door. This makes me think the hotel rooms are a bit unhygienic to have critters in the rooms. There is not enough storage in the rooms. The furniture is open glass shelving, which looks horrible and is dangerous, in my opinion. The gym is small, and the equipment is old. The elliptical trainer handles were dirty, so I don't think the equipment is routinely cleaned. The air conditioning did not work in our room; however, we didn't require it during our stay. It might be an issue during the summer. Food is okay for a buffet restaurant, but the bread and pastries are stale. There are not many vegetarian or vegan opinions. If you have these dietary requirements I would recommend booking on a room only basis. The soft drinks are OK, but the house wine and beer were not to my liking. I would not recommend this hotel if you have children because they will be bored, there's nothing for them to do. If you get a reasonable deal, then the hotel is perfectly acceptable to use as a base to explore puerto de la cruz.

Lovely traditional hotel. Clean and well maintained by staff. Reception staff and service staff kind helpful and cheerful. No tea or coffee facilities in room but on asking reception gave us a kettle and cups for our room. Nothing to complain about in general however food needs a huge improvement. Breakfast plentiful however meats and cheeses all out on the side and not fresh in chiller. Evening meals. Very poor selection. Often cold. One night huge plates of prawns out on table not refrigerated or on ice. We were half board 21st to 28th April but food so bad in evenings we ate out 3 nights. Location of hotel excellent and plenty to fo and see in the area. We would suggest go room only or bed n breakfast. Cheap to eat really good tasty plentiful food in town. My rating of 3 is mostly in realtion to food

We stayed at the Be Live Oratava for one week in April, travelling as a family of three (two adults and a child). Firstly I will say I've rated our stay based on value for money and our experience. We stayed during Easter week and the hotel was very quiet. Service We didn't notice any issues with the 3 lifts but this might have been due to the lack of other guests. I imagine it would be slow when busy. The atmosphere was very relaxed. Staff were excellent and very helpful. The bar staff, cleaners and restaurant staff were all jovial and friendly. This hotel seems to attract a more mature clientele so we saw only a few children. The pool was.small but clean and wasn't busy and there were plenty of sunbeds buyt I believe this would be an issue during peak periods. Room Neutral decor, clean, spacious and certainly nothing to complain about. Not terribly modern but more traditional. The cleaners did a great job and certainly earned their tip. There is a fridge in the room and bottled water and glasses. No tea or coffee facilities in the room,it would have been a nice touch but we obtained a travel kettle for 17 euro in the shop around the corner so easily resolved. Hair dryer is standard hotel one. Not powerful but did the job. All inclusive service: We felt we got a great deal. Decent cocktails and a good variety. They are from a premix but tasted great and fairly strong, and perfect serviced with ice. If you are expecting mixologist standards, pay for a 5 star. Beer was San Miguel and spirits were local and seemed to be given out in generous measures. Also some cocktails can be served without alcohol if requested. Great variety for meals. Prosecco/Cava was available at breakfast on the Sunday for mimosas. Plenty to choose from and we always found something to enjoy. Could have been a little hotter and fresher at times. Again I think this is due to the hotel being quiet and therefore not being refreshed as quickly. Lots of variety, lots of options to suit different tastes/diets and decent quality. Location: The location is superb. There is a shopping mall opposite with a burger king etc and then around the corner is the beautiful town and coast of Puerto de la Cruz. Lots of shopping, restaurants, cafes, bars and stunning scenery. It's vibrant and lively and caters for tourists while retaining more of a traditional Spanish feel. It's perhaps a little more cool and sophisticated than the more southern locations that are focused on clubbing and partying. 25 minutes walk to Loro Park Parking: We hired a car. Don't use the hotel parking if you can avoid it, it's €28 per day. There is free parking near the beach about 15 minute walk away. All in all we were very happy with our stay and had excellent value for money. Had there been reasonably priced parking, a kettle in the room and perhaps a slight improvement in keeping the food hotter, this would be 5/5 so 4/5 it is.
