We stayed here after staying at the Cala D’or last year and we do prefer the room set up at the Altair as it feels more spacious and light. We loved having the full length balcony with access to both the living area and bedroom. We found our room and view great however we did have a few issues with the cleaning as the room wasn’t swept so there was constant it’s everywhere, the shower leaked and created huge puddle all over the bathroom. I do definitely think the rooms should have had air con installed after the refurbishment as the noise from the bars in the commercial centre can be so loud and until like 4:30/5am so it was annoying having to leave the door open to get some kind of air flow but noise from the centre was too much. Kitchen/room had evening you need for a good stay and was good for 2 adults and a toddler. Shame you have to access the hotel via the Cala D’or so makes the journey make longer at night time and just makes it feel like you are not in the main hotel but in a side part having to access via another hotel to check in or of the evening.

Cala D`Or and Altair apartments are clean ( almost every day cleaned) and comfortable ( providing what you need for self catering holiday). All public areas are kept spotless clean. Apartments look out over the valley and have an angled see view. Pool bar and bar staff do a great job ( especially Jamie). Reception staff and night staff are very helpful and can give advice re-nice places to eat. Plenty of Sun-loungers and pool area space. There is a small shop onsite that supplies the essentials. Safe costs 25 euros ( 5 is a deposit) which did feel a bit steep. Accommodation is at top of valley therefore a number of stairs straight down but can choose to take slightly longer route with fewer stairs. We are in our 60s and not very fit but didn`t have to take a taxi back, although some folks do and there are plenty of taxis. A few supermarkets in the valley providing everything you`d need and a small one opposite the entrance to apartments. There are two shopping malls - one with the usual cheap goods and the other with more designer shop goods and both have restaurants and bars. Some are more pleasant than others but cater for everyone`s tastes. Walks down to beach and into Amadores and Tauro are easy lovely walks, For kids there is Angry birds play area which looked fab fpr kids,- we only saw on the passing, there`s the beaches and the usual amusement arcades/ pool tables. Definitely plan to return here as the people were lovely , accommodation fab, and the weather helped us have a fab holiday

Been coming to Puerto Rico for many years ( usually with kids but now they’re grown ups) have stayed in Cala dor ( sister hotel nxt door) many times but In April we got put in the newly refurbished Altair and we absolutely loved it , so much so we are going back in June. Pool area is lovely with decent size pool and jacuzzi, food& drink at pool bar is reasonably priced! Staff & cleaners all very friendly..Can’t wait to return.

We loved our week’s stay here at Altair ! Absolutely spotless , cleaners seem to be permanently cleaning ! Fab room with two double doors on to huge balcony with sea view ! Lovely shower and comfy bed. Bit noisy from main town at night but you get used to it ! Staff are amazing! Beautiful pool. Loads of eating places walkable . Lots of steps but we were fine! Definitely coming back 😁. Eating out pretty cheap to be fair ! We have high standards and this hotel met them all. Thank you. Your staff are a credit to you 😊

Absolutely loved our stay here staff are very friendly chatting with them daily they can’t do enough for you ,very helpful and very polite , the room has kettle microwave toaster electric hob and fridge ,freezer big enough for a bag of ice the room has tv which we never had on as we were out all the time with plenty to do .. room was very clean and maids were in cleaning daily also very polite and friendly.. the pool was very clean and quiet .. no noise at the pool while we were there and were able to read books .. sun hits the pool around 9:30 -10 am and is on it all day with a great breeze.. wee shop outside the hotel ideal for juice crusty bread and has pretty much everything you need a walk down the stairs to the town centre it has everything near to hand even the buses run on time and you can visit other parts of the island for a very reasonable bus ticket , and forgot to add they have entertainment on every night from karaoke to singers and acts which were really good , on the last day you hand your key in at 12pm there is also a shower room you can book if you want one before going to the air port ….we give this a 10 out of 10 we really loved our stay and will book here at the Altair without hesitation again

We have recently returned from a 10 day family holiday with our 18 month old grandson. Overall the Altair is a lovely apartment complex with everything that you need for a self catering holiday. All the staff were friendly and very helpful especially when we had to carry the pushchair up lots of stairs. We were on the sixth floor so had lots to climb. The pool area was spacious but there was no baby pool as was stated in the review of the apartments. In its place was a whirl pool which wasn't very good when the bubbles were on for our grandson.

Good clean hotel, has everything you need kettle microwave hob cutlery pots and pans hairdryer tv etc. They cleaned room 3/4 times a week. Good sized balcony with views over shopping centre where all things occur, at night you can hear the night life but shuttle French doors and noises are gone.To check in you need to go to Cala d’or reception and they will take care of you , key cards, safe key €25 €5 you get back when key is returned. Decent pool you can use both hotels pools, lounges, bars and sun loungers. If you have been before you know about the steps all around Puerto Rico this hotel is about med hight so two lots of stairs. From the shopping centre front it is aprox 194 steps to hotel then aprox 30 to get to reception but there a hotel lift incase you have luggage. Staff are spot on, entertainment most nights. We went to Shamrock pub after 22:30 to watch Kelly Marlow singing rco songs very good if you like rock . We paid aprox £1100 for holiday that’s with price of seats included for self catering holiday money well spent 😀

From a great start to our family holiday to a upsetting turn of an ending! I don't think I've ever come across a more disrespectful, aggressive bar man in my life than I have at the Altair poolside bar. My daughter picked up a plastic cup from the bar (the plastic cups/straws are located all the way around the end of the bar for what looks like easy access for guests) for the bar man to aggressively raise his voice infront of the whole pool calling her a disrespectful lady. She said sorry & asked how much they were to buy, for him to say they were free and threw 3 plastic cups at her telling her to ask next time. He laughed at her with the life guard and she felt embarrassed and belittled. I walked her straight to the reception to make a complaint where the woman there seemed understanding and promised to speak to him, However whatever she said to him clearly didn't work and just seemed to make him angry because when we made our way back to the pool he started shouting in our faces saying that the woman on reception agrees with him & this is his reception and he can do what he likes and again starts calling my daughter disrespectful and that he doesn't have no remorse for throwing the cups at her. My daughter (a young girl) is now in tears, frightened to walk anywhere near the bar again. This is out of order and so far from the professional welcoming personalities you'd expect from all hotel staff. Speaking to 2 women like this is unacceptable. After I spoke to reception for the second time, she was disgusted in his response and claimed his words were false and that she didn't agree. However, for him to continue giving us grief after his 'speaking to' clearly isn't enough which just shows the unprofessional behaviour throughout the whole hotel. I had to ask her to ask him not to speak to us again and we would keep out of his way. No one should be made to feel uncomfortable like we did. You should NEVER have to come across this level of nastiness by anyone, but in a hotel that me and my family have recommended and returned on holiday to with small children is just unacceptable.
