Views were stunning, especially for rooms overlooking the lake. Really poor choice for food, they had about 8 meals for the main course to choose from and when one of us told the staff we were vegetarian we were offered a basic salad for dinner. Poor communication especially between the hotel and the spa as the spa was double booked and they cancelled our appointment five minutes before our massage but the senior manager compensated us for their mistake so that was appreciated. Rooms were comfortable but not the biggest but that’s fine.

The hotel is a bit of an odd design and a bit dated. Heating was by way an electric radiator, and we had to pull the plug out to stop the room getting too warm. The restaurant has the feel of a staff canteen and is utilitarian rather than welcoming. The plus side is a comfortable bed, big window giving views over Lake Titicaca and the very helpful staff. My wife was not well when we arrived and required oxygen. This was provided quickly by a young and very efficient trainee manager who explained the cylinder’s use very well.

Stayed three nights over two stays, lakeview rooms. Located right on the lake, which means it’s a bit outside the main part of town. The surrounding area isn’t particularly nice, but the location itself — right by the reeds/water — is nice. Be aware, train track which is used by Perutrain (Titicaca Train) is running between the hotel and the reeds (two times a day, once at around 4.00am...) We didn’t find Puno itself very attractive or interesting, so being slightly outside the city was actually a plus for us. It’s a great place to spend time by the fireplace in the bar or restaurant. Contrary to some reviews, it wasn’t as cold (inside) as described — with the low outside temperatures, a sweater is sensible, but sitting in the restaurant in a parka would be unnecessary. We had two different lake-view rooms over two stays. Both were adequately sized for a few days, though a bit small for a longer stay. Very clean, though a bit dated. The bed was excellent, but the tiles or carpets/also in the public areas could use a refresh. Still, the overall atmosphere remains charming. The biggest strength of the Casa Andina group and especially here, in our view, is the staff — extremely well-trained, friendly, helpful, and always proactive. They’ve truly made us fans of this Peruvian hotel chain. Breakfast offers a very good selection — as long as you come at the right time. Due to many early tours/departures here, it gets quite crowded between about 6:20 and 7:00 a.m., making it sometimes hard to find a seat or get what you want from the buffet. Outside those rush hours, it’s excellent. Food in the restaurant and the bar snacks were good. Prices — including for drinks — are on the higher side but we found still acceptable. The bar area is currently run by an excellent bartender. Would come back for sure. 4* due to the worn situation here and there...

There are not a lot of options of where to stay in Puno, and staying in the heart of town is probably not very safe. Given that, staying here was ideal as it was isolated from town. The negative, is that it was isolated. The hotel was very pretty and had lovely grounds. It is right on the water - stunning. Provides great access to Lake Titicaca which everyone needs to see and enjoy.

This hotel occupies a great setting with a patio and (some) rooms offering commanding views across Lake Puno. The nicely finished interior sports clean white walls, dark wood and a pleasant bar and restaurant and spacious bed room. There's a nice garden and access via a private walkway to the water's edge. In and around the garden, birds we saw included: Puna Teal, Andean Duck, Plumbeous Rail, Large-billed Tern, White-tufted Grebe, Cinerous Harrier, Andean Flicker, Wren-like Rushbird, Cinerous Conebill, Black-throated Flowerpiercer, Peruvian Sierra Finch & Cream-winged Cinclodes. There were opportunities for further birding within a short walk of the hotel. One small negative was the paucity of drinking water available. There were only 2 small bottles in the room (although they were refreshed daily) and those for purchase at reception were expensive and not chilled - not good at an altitude of 3,900m! The bar food was generally good, particularly the pizza and trout with curry sauce. We also enjoyed the pisco sour and local beers served by a very friendly and helpful bar man. Breakfast was superb with lovely fruit, breads, coffee from a machine, salads, cooked offerings and much more. It was one of the best breakfasts of our whole 2 month trip! We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay here, and would recommend it.

Old and outdated hotel. The rooms don't even have heating—they use an old electric heater. The rooms are large, but not welcoming or comfortable. The hotel is in urgent need of renovation. The restaurant is good, but it also has no heating system and customers eat with their coats on because of the cold. Although they light the fireplace, the space is too large and uncomfortable. The staff at the restaurante is very nice.
