Love this Castle, had a great weekend and booked two breaks to go back later this year. My only gripe about this establishment is the fact they now charge to book seats in the entertainment area which at £45 a night is ridiculous, so for a weekend that’s costs on average £500 per person you are expected to spend another £135. That smacks of greed and now you have to pay to do shooting and archery which used to be included in the price. It does really leave a nasty taste in the mouth and don’t even get me started on drink prices. We don’t purchase and alcoholic drinks when we stay for that reason. Luckily we like other aspects or this place or we wouldn’t bother going back.

Arrived 11th April, today 12th. Pros- check in on the driveway whilst sat in the car, good system, nice room !With patio in shared courtyard. Cons - see pic of our view when we exited the lift to room PH104. Member of leisure team totally disinterested to our queries. Cheapest bottle of white wine £24.75! Had to pay £50.00 to ensure we had a table in the cabaret room (a barn!) Had to pay for coffee after dinner. Positive about room turned into negative at. 5.00am when the seagulls woke us up

If you go to Bodelwyddnan castle - be sure to participate in the guided tour of the castle and grounds with “Graham”. He is so knowledgeable, enthusiastic and amusing. It’s about a 2 hour tour describing the history of the castle, the changes in its use accompanied by so many myths, legends & stories. Graham has a very amusing delivery and is a font of detailed information. You can really tell he has a passion for history as well as gardening and nature in general. HE IS AN ASSET TO THE WARNER TEAM at Bodelwyddan.

Pleasant enough but wouldn't return. Booked a garden lodge with balcony for my birthday. Room was adequate for our needs. Had I known it was quite a walk from the room to the main areas, I wouldn't have booked it. Our alloted car space in the car park was a fair walk to the room too. On arrival you have to queue to pick a table in the dining room for the duration of your stay, then a set time to go and pick a table for the evening entertainment. So much hanging about after a long drive. The bar area could do with a good clean, chairs are very dirty and lots of dust. The grounds are lovely, the shooting and archery is a nice touch. Unfortunately, the pool was still out of order, which immediately spoiled my stay. The one thing we couldn't fault, was the food. Lots of choice and freshly cooked. We had a young lady called Beth as our waitress, she was ran off her feet! All in all, for the price we paid, I wish we had chosen a different hotel for our long weekend away.

We were looking forward to going back to bodeleyddan. It did not start off very well before we went. The pool was going to be out of actions. We rang up asking questions, be did not get very far. We got there and asked about the pool, we were told you need to asked and we would ring up the other hotel and see if it is convenient. So you just not go when you wanted. On the first night we got there I fell down a pothole outside hotel. The next morning I reported to reception, there said it would be reported to the ground staff. That hole was never covered over I am gluten free so I got the menu on the morning to order my evening meal, that was fine. I asked for some gluten free breakfast was I could not have any because I had not ordered it. I was never told I needed to.order breakfast. So I made a complaint and spoke to the team leader. She was lovely and we did get a token on our account. We went down for the evening meal and it got worse. I got my starter and then waited 40 minutes for my main meal, when it came it was cold. 15 mins later a new one came. I was not in the moods my them. The same team leader came to see me. I then asked if I could speak to the manager. The manager came to see be and was very nice. He had already been told about the restaurant problems. He then asked me what had gone on. I then told him about my accident and I was l not happy, that it had not been but in the accident book. We did that and then he went and put a cover over it. He said someone would see use before we left the next day, but no one did. On a happen note the staff were great and Asa Elliot was brilliant.

Stayed at bodelwyddan castle for my wife's birthday this March. Booked in using the paid for extra which I found useful, staff on desk were pleasant and helpful as were the staff who greeted us at the gate. Found room easily and central to where all the facilities were. Booked a table in the restaurant when it opened at 2pm again staff helpful with which table would be best for my wife's mobility. Would advise booking the vip for the evening as sometimes difficult to get a table. Food was of a similar standard to when stayed at other warner site reasonable quality, menu not overly varied and and always a roast on in the evening. Waiting staff in restaurant really pleasant and helpful, Bar staff really helpful and friendly didn't have to wait long most of the time, apart from one night when approx 2130 all bar staff and waiting staff disappeared from the atrium bar and lowther bar and we had to wait for about 5-10 minutes. Cleanliness of room ok. Booked to come again.

This was our 3rd visit to Warners Bodelwyddan Castle and overall it was a good experience but not as good as previous visits . BAD - It has lost its edge, they clearly have problems with staffing levels. There are clearly maintenance issues in respect of two of the mens toilets (see photos). Worn out furnishings in the Atrium Bar, chairs and settees that clearly need replacing. Settees have stud covers missing on the back leaving sharp studs that can damage a jacket. The underneath of chairs hanging down in both the Atrium Bar and Mulberrys and stiching worn out and frayed on tub chairs (see photos). We knew in advance that the pool facilities were goin to be closed for maintenance until at least March 25 but no specific reason given for the closure over many months. The leisure facilities were a disappointment as one of the usual two table tennis tables was missing. I enquired about this at the Leisure reception, who actually have the worst, laconic, indifferent, staff at the Castle. When one of them finally got off of the wooden cabinets on which he was seated they told me that the other table was broken some time ago. They could not tell me when or if it was going to be replaced. One of the leisure reception staff was rude to my wife later on in the weekend. A butterfly active table tennis table exactly like the missing one is £419 in Vat delivered next day. Warners would save the VAT and its pennies ot them to replace it. Our small group was looking forward to the table tennis in view of the bad weather. The gents toilets in the Leisure area and the Atrium are simply poorly maintained and foul. They are malodorous all the time. There is no evidence of regular checking during day and evening, The fans and air freshening system do not appear to work. One of the two cubicles is so small you risk becoming trapped if you turn around. Underneath of seat toilet have long term staining... and should be replaced. GOOD- The majority of the staff were excellent, smart, polite, efficient without being servile. 'Tegan' our dining waitress or Tiggy as I called her, was superb. Always happy and we wanted for nothing at mealtimes. 'David', a 67 year old waiter in the Atrium bar and Mulberrys was again excellent, a pleasure to order from and always quick with food and drinks. I noticed on this visit to the Castle that quite a number were not wearing their name badges and it appeared to be from choice rather than mislaid or lost. The same ones always had no badges. Its hard to compliment staff with no badges. The waiter staff male and female in the dining room work really hard, especially when it was obvious that they were short staffed at times because some staff had no showed that day. The cooks etc behind the buffet self-serve were lovely, ready to answer questions about dishes. All food was superb and faultless. MANAGEMENT - For some reason, other than in the dining section, you do not readily see supervision or management walking around the rest
