Best Saint Albans Spa Hotels

The room was clean and well presented . Check in was made more difficult as the screen did not work for both ourselves and others which meant waiting for a receptionist to man the desk. She was polite and efficient. The breakfast was good. Parking was limited and we paid for parking on a nearby street . This turned out to be cheeped than the multi story car park even when the discount was applied Overall we were pleased with our two night stay in St Albans. This was the fourth forth hotel we stayed at and was certainly the best of the bunch

I recently stayed at this hotel in St Albans and had high expectations given the beautiful design, especially in the common areas, and the very good breakfast offerings. However, my experience quickly turned sour. While the rooms appear new at first glance, they are actually quite shabby, with old stains on the furniture and in the bathroom. This was disappointing, but what really soured my stay was the attitude of the staff. I was assigned a room on the ground floor facing a wall—literally 5 cm away from the window. When I brought up my concerns, the staff was not only unhelpful but openly arrogant. They blamed me for checking in late and didn’t even attempt to hide their annoyance, despite the fact that I’m a Hilton Honors Gold member, which should entitle me to an upgrade or at least a better room within the category. With staff treating guests this poorly, I won’t be returning to this hotel. It’s a shame because the design and breakfast had potential, but the service needs a serious overhaul.

Price Quality ratio is excellent. We particularly like the typical English character of the house, the interior, the bar, the dining rooms and the sleeping rooms. It is a comfortable hotel with very good service. The Italian restaurant serves a large variety of dishes, but I never tasted such a nice Spagetti Milanese! So they are also excellent in the simple dishes. Any way very worthwhile to visit, also because it is situated quite close to the centre of the lovely town, St Albans

We stayed for a Thursday and Friday night. The rooms are quaint it being a 15th century hotel. Room 1 is quite small with a tiny shower and toilet. Room 2 is much better and even has an air conditioning unit. The main issues with rooms 1 ,2 &3 is they are at the front of the hotel on a very busy road which goes uphill and thus generates even more traffic noise. The windows in the rooms are very old and do not shut properly and the secondary glass is ineffective. It means we were continuously woken up in the night due to the traffic noise. We were moved to room 2 after 1st night which was much nicer but still suffered from the noise problem. Unfortunately there were no interior rooms available. Our sons stayed in room 16 on the floor above which suffered similar noise problems, we were disappointed to have been placed in the two worse rooms in the hotel even though be booked 6 months earlier. On the positive side the breakfast was very good with tasty ingredients for the full English. There were also another 5 or 6 hot options. There are no pastries available which appears to have been discontinued so should be removed from the breakfast menu. The real positive not is that the hotel provide the wedding dinner reception for my nieces wedding for 50 people which was organised very well with very good food. So if you are booking check they are not allocating you a room overlooking the road in particular do not stay in rooms 1,2,3 & 16
