Bull Costa Canaria & Spa - Only Adults

We booked a 14 night stay as a family group of six. We had a budget and this Hotel had good reviews and was within the budget. We were definitely not disappointed. We booked a high floor seating view room, which was plenty big enough and if good quality. We had a walk in shower. Room had tea making facilities and a small fridge. Water was replenished daily. At check-in you are given a ticket to attach to a sunbed of your choice which then is yours for the entire stay, which for me is a real game changer and a brilliant idea. Towels are free but have a €15 deposit. They can if you wish change them once daily. You can choose to be around the pool area or in the lovely gardens which are a little quieter. There are daily activities available if you wish to do take part. There is a no smoking policy inside and out except in a designated smoking area, away from everyone else. Another very welcome game changer. We were on fully inclusive and the food did not disappoint. Breakfast had a large choice of hot and cold. We tended to have a big breakfast and no lunch, but the lunch offered at the pool bar was excellent and very popular. Available 12.00 to 16.00 Dinner was again excellent with a good variety of hot food and cold salads etc. each night they offered a different joint, beef, lamb, pork, duck and Turkey for example. There was also two live cooking stations where the chef soul cook your fish or meat to order along with accompanying sauces and vegetables. All very good Pizza freshly cooked and available every night. House wine was very nice. They had just installed a brand new pizza oven outside by the pool when we were there which was also excellent. Again all included and available 11.45 to 16.45. In summary it is hard to find anything to say against this hotel. However, one small thing which is only important if you have allergies. Is that the food labelling was pretty poor so if you have a serious allergy then you would need to be careful. The Staff were always happy to help with regards to ingredients and to get Gluten free products for two of our party. One last thing. At the time we were there I would say it was around 80% German and few British, so personally that was good, as they are generally nice people. I can imaging at an all inclusive British dominated hotel there might be a bit too many drunk people. We were not expecting too much before going but we were really surprised and would happily go again.

Do not trust the system to reserve a sun bed . It seemed like such a good idea given that the two predominant groups are British and Germans (no jokes about towels on sun beds) At check in we were given labels to take to secure our sun beds for the week . Having chosen we went for a walk along the beach . By the time we came back a little over an hour later the labels were no longer on our sun beds - the Germans were! . We complained at reception as we now had no labels and no sun beds. The official story line was that sun beds had been moved about because of a fallen tree ( about 100 yards away). The reality was that the sun bed attendant knew exactly where they had been moved from and too , and had presumably taken a bribe to execute the movement. Not a great start. More to follow.

Our go to Winter location based on three previous visits. We have stayed in the Pool View Bungalows on each occasion. Plenty of space with your own terrace area. The staff are very smiley and helpful all around the Hotel. The well laid out buffet restaurant is easy to navigate even at peak times. There is a outside area by the lower level entrance. There can be a queue here to get an available table. The food quality & variety will suit all tastes and differing clientel of european demographic. An added advantage is The Spa with a sauna, steam room and lots of whirlpool features. Only a short ride from the airport. There are buses (No 30) to the capital & Maspolomas nearby and taxis are cheap and plentyful. The Hotel is Adults only and they operate a Half Board or All inclusive basis. Be prepared to put a few pounds on just on the Half Board. San Agustin is small, with a nice beach, and relatively quiet. If you want Bars, Clubs & racket try somwhere else further South. We met some very nice people, (next bungalow) from Belgium. You know who you are.

My actual mark for this hotel would be 3 1/2 . On arrival was greeted in reception by a friendly , professional lady who gave me all the information required about the hotel in a prompt fashion . Room was very clean , comfortable bed and spacious bathroom , only criticism was instead of a proper tea spoon there was something resembling half a lollipop stick . On to the restaurant nicely laid out , waiter was on hand almost straight away to serve the drinks , was disappointed with the salad options only the basics and food was in very small containers so at times things you wanted weren't available as got emptied fairly quickly , the meat carved by the chef although not the best cuts of meat were well cooked , desserts were nice and plentiful. Fruit options like salad were limited , only hotel I have ever stayed at where I never saw any melon for the whole week , next morning on to the breakfast very busy , not a comfortable experience and I have to say worst cerial choices I can ever remember a couple of processed sugary options I have never seen before and a sort of hybrid muesli/ cornflake sugary concoction in 2 of the containers the rest of the breakfast I would describe as average although the ladies cooking the eggs were quick and friendly , spoke to a gentleman on reception with my concerns over the poor cerial options he took my details and said one of the management team would get in contact within 2 days , that didn't happen which is disappointing as I wasn't demanding to see someone but if you make a promise you should follow up on that . The entertainment was better than I expected , singers in the night bar and a live music option in pool bar , excellent bar service with branded spirits and pour as much as you like with all Inc. Gym was excellent for a hotel . Pool area with sunbeds looked claustrophobic so I went to the garden area which was nice and relaxing and a very good location. The sunbed tagging system wasn't something I liked but most people seemed in favour so fair enough . Just one more point I would like to make read a few reviews saying bar staff favoured German customers, I didn't find that to be the case so don't be put off by those comments

Before I write my review, I have to take James S from Paphos to task. His January review is an insult to many of the holidaymakers and effectively mocks those who are less agile than him. At his age I was playing tennis three times a week, badminton twice a week and golf regularly. For various reasons, none of which are his business, through no fault of my own I now have severe mobility issues at the age of 75. However, my wife and I holiday as often as we can and, although envious of people like James, who are fit and healthy, we thoroughly enjoy life. This hotel is absolutely superb. It is spotlessly clean everywhere, the staff are without exception fantastic and the (free!!) spa is unbelievable. I wasn't over-impressed with the food at lunch and dinner, albeit there was a lot of choice, but I am not a fan of buffet meals. Nevertheless I was never hungry and the breakfast spread was amazing. I am not sure who ate the broccoli though! The pool bar is excellent and the food there at lunchtime is really good. We didn't expect entertainment so it came as a pleasant surprise. Some of it was excellent, some a little less so, but to have any entertainment at all was a bonus. And as stated above, Vanessa was very efficient and welcoming. The alternative entertainment at the pool bar was sometimes worth a visit. We will be going back to this hotel, probably more than once. And finally, to James S, I hope his words don't come back to haunt him. It would be awful if, in twelve years' time, other guests at a hotel he is staying in look down on him as some sort of inferior being if he ever becomes infirm.

Beautiful Hotel. Five of us came for my friends 60th birthday and had a fab time! A simple but elegant hotel, tranquil and peaceful but very friendly. The clientele were very much older than we were but it was so lovely to mix with everyone. The food was amazing! Very good quality! Loved the pool bar food especially! The staff were so friendly. Couldn’t really fault this hotel! 100% recommended! Also they made my friends 60th very special without having to mention it to them.
